  • Hi,

I did my first online assessment on 28/01/13, had a call the next day to do a manual assessment last Friday 01/02/13, had an email the next Monday to say, thanks for attending and I will receive a call detailing the next stages in due course.....

Does this mean so far, so good ????

Im just stating what was said in the meeting not hearsay...they did ask for volunteers to go to solihull and there definately will be line balancing taking place in D block around March. This means certain jobs will get re shuffled/re-allocated and there is a good chance that the number of people per line will reduce to compensate the reduction in volume.

From what i heard thats why people are being asked if they want to go to solihull first....after the volunteers...if the numbers are not complete they will probably pick people etc. I dont know how many people they need.

Some may even get moved to different blocks as castle brom is also a big site and there are lots of different areas to move to.

If you say they are still recruiting then it could be for either solihull or maybe a different block. just wait and see where you will be put.
From what i saw on news there are 800 jobs being created at solihull so this move is targeted to fill some of those. I dont think anyone will be laid off completely just moved around.

As for wages the wage structure for the new starters on manpower has changed as of 01/01/13 so i think you will be on 70% of what the JLR staff are on which again i dont know the exact rate they are on. You will be given a paper on induction with all this on so sit tight an wait for that.
  • Hi
I thought the wage was90% of Jlr staff ?

    Current rates for Manpower
    days -£10.45
    mornings/afternoons £12.19
    nights -£13.93
£30 pw attendance allowance after 13 weeks

70% for new starters with Manpower, going up to 90% after 1 year (I think it still stands at 90%) when taken on temp JLR contract for 1 year before being taken on full time.
  • it is 70% that is correct

and its 90% after you get your permanent contract
