  • you must have done OK for them to contact you. but i can imagine they must have had a massive response. when i went for manual assessment in December one guy said then that they had had more than 32000 applications so i suppose it takes time

There were 15 women out of a 100 starters last Monday so they are more than capable of doing the job as quite a few are being put in trim and final and paint .

havent posted on here for a while but have been following the thread on and off. Quick update for those starting.

i work at CB we had a team talk . In the presentation we were told that we are dropping production by 300 cars a week so 150 per shift. We were told that the quality standards had dropped resulting in poor feedback/warranty issues etc which in a very competitive market has affected sales amongst other factors.

I wasnt surprised with the 'quality' part of the news because all they go on about is volume volume volume and more volume they have forgot the basic principle that Quality is more important than quantity, they pile on the workload in a very tight tact time and some people struggle to cope...they end up falling behind/making mistakes and then rush to catch up...we all know rushing leads to errors that why so many silly things are slipping through the net....but what do i know!. This relates to the next bit of 'news'.

Also at start of this week we had a letter telling us there would be some changes taking place in march and the letter was also asking for volunteers to transfer to solihull. I think there will be line balancing taking place to accomodate the drop in cars so the lines will reshuffle the workload as the track will probably slow down.
This will mean some people will probably not be doing their existing job while others will have to take on MORE work.

My question is for those that have worked at solihull and Castle brom...can you post come comparison info on here ..pros and cons of both sites..obviously not taking distance or personal circumstances into account. Given the choice (like we have now) which is a better place to be?.

I know that loads of people were refused their floating week holiday before xmas even with the appropriate notice and ended up loosing it because there wasnt enough cover (there never is) and its pretty much impossible to book a day off even if there is no one off on that day! they just want you to take the shut downs off and the floating week you can wave good bye to !

whats it like at solihull are the management just as stubborn or do they actually treat their staff with a bit of respect?

I had my assessment on the 31th @ 3.45 I had a phone call the following day for an interview this week. But due to work had to reshuffle to next week. During the conversation the young lady mentioned something about an old and new campaign that there had been a mix up and likelihood of current interviews being changed coz it was in the old book rather then the new book
And the jobs were for solihull/ castle brom.
I'm struggling to find out hourly rate and shift premiums so I can calculate the wage. There's a few figures mentioned but seems like it varies from site and shift can anyone shed any light on this thanks.

Bimma you mentioned line balancing and volunteering. how does this affect new starters if volume is dropping?
  • Should I just give up now? :(

Was supposed to have a manual assessment on the 21st of Jan but it got cancelled due to snow and they didnt contact me back to give me a new appointment. I left it for a week, phoned them back on the 31st and they said they would give my number to someone at Jag. Another week has gone and still no phone call... Its quite annoying to be honest because if it wasn't snowing that day, Id probably be at an interview by now.
  • Bit worried now. Seems that people are called sooner rather than later. Hope I'm wrong!
