hi all, can anyone tell me what work goes on in d block at jaguar castle bromwich im on my induction and they have told me ill be in d block but i aint got a clue what work they do in there?0

Hi hingley,
I am in D block and it is XF trim an final but there are 5 lines, starting on line 1 where the body of the car is bare and ending on line 5 where they add the last bits and do the testing, so you could be anywhere in between! Some jobs are good some are hardwork but you get used to it and when you get paid it all seems worthwhile! Lol but don't bank on being in D block, I was originally in I block but they decided to move me a few weeks ago. Good luck0 -
thanks kraigwalton. ive bin told the d blocks the hardest from people on my induction so its nice to hear from someone whos in there an says it aint bad. aslong as the people in there am sound an the days go quick im happy. just cant wait to get in there an start instead off all this paperwork im doing at the minute lol.0

im in D block aswell mate, I havent heard anyone that ive spoke to say that its easy. I found it hard first week but yes you do get used to the as you repeating the same process on every car. But thats not to say the aches/pains go away..they are still there but you just seem do bare them more and are so engrosed in your work that you dont feel it lol
From what i see on a daily basis most of them on quality checking have it nice...check the car quality and report any faults i sometimes see about 10 of them crowded around a car I wish i had 10 people helping me do my job!. Its different on the track though you have approx 3 minutes to do around 10 things on a car (some have less but take more time doing them ) . Trust me mate the time goes very quick..1 little obstacle or someone comes and asks you for something...you get distracted and you can fall behind then it will take you 5/6 cars to get back to pace/in a comfortable position.
Its good when the track stops for a few seconds (rarely) as it gives you time to catch up.
A Lad walked past me today by the lockers and all i smelt was Deep Heat lol0 -
Bimma your right I come out everyday aching all over, it annoys me how some people get easy jobs though. What line you on mate?0

The aching should go away after a few week, it takes at least two weeks of "work hardening" for your body to become accustomed to the work. It doesn't matter how fit or strong you are, if you are doing something new, you are using different muscle groups in different combinations.
As for people getting easy jobs, well, that's life. Work hard, don't complain or !!!!!, prove yourself reliable and competent and there is no reason that you can't progress to the "easy" jobs.
I have just finished Pera Training and am about to start in Body in White, lots of assembly experience but no BIW, so don't know how that happened lol.0 -
I had a call on Thursday inviting me for a skills test but I've recently started at Aston Martin. Hopefully the ones that are waiting will hear something anytime now.0

Good advice, I was aching all over when I started but after a couple of weeks it went away, still have the odd day here and there but most of the time I am ok.
The person with the deep heat was probably me.0 -

Body in white is awesome, albeit a dirty grimy job. If you don't mind callouses on your hands and the occasional cut ( you are using sheet metal) than you will enjoy it! You can tell body in white people instantly cus they seem to be the most unkempt lol. The work is not particulary hard, but does take some skill, especialy if your on framing!0
