I have just rang Manpower have been waiting since 16th August and the woman told me the recruiting has been suspended until further notice.She wouldn't say anything else.

I went to the Union meeting today and these are the facts of the new starters.

1. The Union have accepted having new starters on 70%, 10% lower than us so our jobs will be more vulnerable with cuts.

2. No additional rights in any way shape or form was achieved for the temp' workers.

3. The union want us to join and pay them for this performance even though we have no vote and will get shouted down when complaining or fired.

Ello! havent posted in a while, been there for just over 2 weeks now, im in D block, everyone still just as friendly as they were on the first day, if you mess up, they will be a little angry, but they will only come up and tell you what youve done wrong and what you need to do right, just dont mess it up again..

also, you said something about we make 155 a day and its going to 110? will they be slowing down the track then? (bit of a dumb question, but its an understandable target with all the new people working solo for the first times on shifts)

Yeah, the track will be slowed down if they are reducing the number built but expect more work to do in return for having longer to work on each car.

If that's true what Lucky Mucky said then it proves when I said (then deleted).

Also don't ever expect to be on 100% pay, the union are about as useful as a chocolate fire guard. My union membership will be withdrawn tomorrow if what Lucky Mucky has said is correct.

Had a call from Manpower earlier this evening I've got a 6 to 8 week contract over at LR Solihull starting next Monday.

oh yeah, silly me, totally forgot our jobs are changing lol,

totally forgot we were learning more, getting told tomorrow what else we're doing, cheers for reminding me But, atleast we're getting more time! just hope it'll be enough!

Just an update following my call last night..

The Manpower lady who called me last night said that its looking like no new staff will be taken on at Jaguar till the new year now..

I suppose that does make sense with what's been said on here the last few days.

She also said that there will be about 50 of us starting at Land Rover on Monday 22nd so I hope you all get the call..

I'd be interested who to hear how the other lads who started over at Solihull a few weeks back are getting on..

still seems they are telling one person something and someone else the complete opposite,

i had a call this morning and they want me to start tomorrow at 7am, castle bromwich on launch. like everyone else i have the 4 weeks guaranteed. then who knows what happens next.

i am not as excited after reading all these posts, feel like they will get 4 week out of me and get rid of me!And i havent even started yet!

also i been told i will be on 11.48p/h..

i only had my interview on 9th,

can anyone give me any info on 1st day? What happened to the 2 week training? that gone to pot? will steelies, black tshirt and black combat trousers be ok?
