Today was the last day of chaos ..or at least i thought.
Ive been there 5 to 6 weeks and what i find shocking is the lack of organisation regarding implementing the shifts. We start our shifts on monday, most stations/parts are being reorganised over the weekend to make it more efficient and they only decided to actually tell us our new jobs/process today friday...2 hours before we finished for the week. Not only that...the longer serving member of staff was shown one or 2 of the jobs if they asked to get shown it ...not even given a chance to master it themselve then was told make sure you show your opposite shift person aswell.

So some people had little or no chance to practise, in some cases the time they spent over the past month or so learning a job, mastering it , learning the tricks to make it quick has been a complete waste as that job has been completly taken off them and given to someone else..e.g on the station before them! and they are back to square one..or worse. There are some lads who saw their process sheets and didnt know how to do any of the new tasks on there. and only had 2 hrs to learn them before starting to do it in time alone on monday without any time to learn or practise/iron out mistakes.?

Surely it would have been logical to work out the new jobs / plan it and get the new starters to learn what they were actually going to be doing and have 4 weeks to practise and get up to speed instead of learning something completely different and told to scrap that this is your new job 2 hrs before you finishd your last day with your mentor.

My job has changed quite a bit...ive lost appox 3 or 4 tasks and gained another approx 5 which are completely different.

Not only that i cant believe they didnt logically work it out, sounds like they randomly put the jobs in a hat with station numbers and thought oh lets have 10 tasks per station. 2 of my mates were given tasks on top of their exisiting jobs which they say are almost impossible to do in the time, yet others had jobs taken off them which only took a number of seconds in the 1st place. A couple of people complained and said it isnt possible and had their jobs looked/reworked at but others were told youll get used to it...dont worry you'll get another 30 seconds or so..lol

oh well it will be interesting to see how many problems arise next week or if anyone actually knows what they are supposed to do .

I'm assuming your in trim and final? In BIW we learnt our task over two weeks and rotate the task everyday, We only got our shifts the other day. Nothing else has changed much. The only real difference is we will be doing more cars, which is again easily doable.

@ Bimma, Know exactly where your your coming from mate!
Just go with it, and see what happens, may take weeks but im sure thell figure it all out in the end.

On a seperate note Several Manpower Agency workers where dismmised last week Friday, due to failed CRB checks.
Potential Manpower workers, It would be wise to ensure you declare all issues that may have arisen regards this check, however minor.

The above info was confirmed by the Block Supervisor, before anyone asks!
  • anyone working at jaguar castle brom confirm the shift patterns?

i heard there is only the one shift 7.15 to 3.45 or something like that?

Yes, but i cant remember exactly by how much :S i know it's a fair amount over the week though! plus we only work 4 shifts! ( longer hours!)
  • Don't worry about not having learnt your jobs yet. I'm sure the track will be running at a snails pace for the first few days to let us get use to the changes. It'll cost them more in time & money to rectify issues then to run the track at a slower speed for a week and have all the cars are up to standard to be sold.

You do get more for the night shift but over a month (2 weeks days 2 weeks nights) you come out with pritty much the same as doing double days or any other shift pattern.
