I was thinking of using AutoAid but wondered how they are for people with pets. I have 2 dogs (friendly but large) and wouldn't want to be stranded because they wouldn't transport the dogs. Anyone got any experience of how they deal with pets?0

Teena read the policys very carefully Recovery does not mean they'll take you and car home most have the option of taking to a local garage if the car could be fixed that day,If its a major breakdown then they probably would take you home.Theres very few now that actually state they will take you home if they can't fix it at the roadside. The reason most want taking home is because you could end up at a garage that will charge a fortune and rip you off. Most people know a local garage who they trust and would rather the car go there,If you have credit card with you at all times then the best recovery is autoaid just £38 a year where you pay the recovery driver then claim it back off Autoaid,GEM breakdown cover also state they will take the car home or on to destination for around £90ish a year but that would cover both you and your daughter if at the same address,You can read the small print on nearly all the others and it will say they can take you to a local garage if it can be repaired the same day.
I have been reading the Autoaid and GEM policies (both backed by Red Star Equity) and they both state the same exclusion:-
"The cost of recovering the vehicle and its passengers if
the vehicle can be repaired within a reasonable period
of time at or near the place where it has broken-down."
Does anyone know of a policy where YOU are given the CHOICE of having your car recovered if they can't repair at the roadside?
Also does anyone know of a policy where they will recover your car if involved in an accident which is included in the policy?
Thanks

Dear Mr Shields
Thank you for your enquiry.
I can confirm that we are happy to cover your Mazda 2500, and that if you breakdown more than 1/4 mile from your home address and the vehicle cannot be repaired at the roadside, we will recovery you to any one destination of your choice.
I hope this offers clarification.
Kind Regards

Well it doesn't make sense if you want a full relay service. Nor does it make sense if you want to use an independent garage.
Ford breakdown cover is only roadside repair or a tow to the nearest Ford dealership.0
