I have been with AutoAid for quite a few years, and have had cause to make use of them a few times. They have always been helpful and got me on my way one way or another.
I did have a bit of trouble with a recent claim however. I paid for recovery by credit card, and the recovery firm charge a supplement for doing that. It was only a few quid on a ~£120 charge and I thought no more of it.
I sent the invoice and claim for to AutoAid, who paid the £120, but deducted the credit card charge from the payment.
I wasn't impressed by that, particularly as the autoaid FAQ says "we will ask you which form of payment you have with you at the time, so the garage we send out to rescue you will be able to accept whichever credit/debit card that you have with you. We recommend AutoAid members to always carry a form of payment with them." So credit card sounds fine there, and no mention of not paying any charges associated.
I grumbled and they at first said they didn't cover it, then escalated it as a complaint and said they would send a cheque (which I'm sure they will).
So - I'm still happy they provide a good value service, but a little disappointed they weren't up-front about costs they don't want to pay (even if they did in the end). If you use them and want to avoid the hassle, use a debit card instead.0 -
Hi, i am thinking of using our tesco clubcard points for RAC.
After looking at the RAC own website, I want the 'personal roadside only' £43.99 on RAC website
and Not the 'vehicle roadside only' which is less.
Does anybody know which One i need to purchase from the clubcard website as its not clear which is which with tesco.
Many thanks for any help0 -
Personal cover is for you in any vehicle. Vehicle cover uses a single registration number and covers this irrespective of who is driving.0

Hi, yes i know the personal is the one i want, but which do i choose on tesco website as it doesnt state if its personal or vehicle
here's the link

I've been using auto aid now for at least 3 years (it could be 4!) - and I've found them to be brilliant. Made 3-4 claims over the years - they've always been super helpful, super quick and I've never had a quibble over getting my funds refunded - couldn't be happier :jBubblesunshine0

I've recently upgraded my Nationwide Flex Account to FlexPlus. For £10 per month there are several useful features, including free UK & Europe breakdown cover via Liverpool Victoria Ins Co. As far as I can see, the cover seems to match that of the AA. Has MSE done any comparisons?
Have now found out that LV are using Britannia Rescue, so looks like a good deal0 -
i want to cancel my aa membership and join green flag at the moment i pay by direct debit (monthly) i get my new aa membership card at the beginning of december i would like to know if you pay a penalty fee if you leave the aa i would be grateful for some advise please0

This is from the RAC terms and conditions, so i imagine the AA to be somewhat the same.
Can I cancel my existing breakdown membership?
Your right to cancel is set out in our terms of membership. You are entitled to cancel your membership up to 14 days following the start date (or renewal date) of your membership, or the date you receive your Terms of Membership, whichever happens later. If you have not made a claim or used our service within the first 14 days we will refund the cost of your membership. If you cancel the membership after 14 days no refund or credit can be applied.
Whenever you cancel any sort of contract whether it be house insurance; car insurance, or a gym membership you're going to lose a lot in charges.
I think you'd be better off waiting until December.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
