    Hey ,

Im quite new to this and over the last few weeks ive recieved alot of Smarts from people . I now have 12! I recieved a letter in this weeks pack to send any back that i was told to send back. The problem is i dont know which ones i have to send back. i dont have a manage smart page and im quite confused?

Phone them to say you do not have a "manage my smarts" option and they will add it (probably while you are on the phone)

I dont think the time it was delivered really matters too much. They know the majority of people work so would have no idea when it came. Ive added dont know to every item for years and it hasnt been an issue.
I guess it all boils down to how much you care about the purpose of the survey over and above the receiving of a couple of books of stamps a month.

Personally, I work on the principle that if I have agreed to do something such as this I follow the instructions given rather than make up my own rules and decide myself which bits are important to the data collectors.

I'm just old fashioned I suppose, but I assume that questions are asked because they want to know the answers, not as a time wasting exercise and unless you are reasonably consistently in a position to answer all the questions asked accurately, then you should not be doing the survey.

I appreciate that "don't know" is an option for delivery time, but at one time or another, every single instruction given for filling in the survey by Kantar has been questioned on this thread and has had a response from one poster or another saying "it doesn't matter". If people were to follow all that is said here then Kantar might as well just say "Post where ever you like, sometime in the next month or so, preferably on a Tuesday, but don't sweat it and tell us occasionally that you've received stuff".

Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.

Oh please, many of their survey panellists work so I am sure they are well aware most people will not know what time their post arrived - I live in a block of flats with fire doors and a second door behind the front one so I rarely hear the post and frankly it can come any time from 11am to 3pm so its not really possible to check at approximately the right time - we haven't had a "regular" delivery time since they went from morning deliveries to all day. I post the time when I do know but click Don't Know for most, they do not appear to have a problem with it. For their purposes, the most important thing about posting items is that they are posted on a certain day of the week, everything else is flexible, that is what I was told when I emailed them a couple of times in the early days of being a member of the scheme.

Please do not try to confuse new members by giving them inaccurate information or getting them stressed about things they cannot control. If Kantar wanted us to tighten up procedures on any aspect of the scheme then they would let us know about it, the fact that they have not seems to suggest they are happy with the status quo.

I'm not trying to confuse anyone. I have been doing this survey since the days when it was all paper based and all I am saying is that they provide clear and full instructions on the website and in the documentation provided. The instructions include time, day, date and post location type for sending items. On receipt they ask for time of delivery, date, item and franking details, ref no and SMART details.

Is it really too confusing to suggest that people follow the instructions they are given and fill in the details they ask for accurately? It isn't difficult. What is the point of doing half a job? If you're going to do that you might as well not bother at all and make it all up.

Remember when the targets weren't met by RM a couple of years ago? RM managers still got their performance bonuses because they cited inaccuracies in the way the survey was run. That was why the SMART format was changed along with the addressing method. If targets aren't met again, all the managers need to do is point to this thread and the "advice" given about ignoring parts of the survey.

So let's keep this simple: For anyone unsure about what to do on the survey; Kantar provide both a telephone helpline and an email on the website. Phone/email them and ask them, don't rely on random opinions gathered elsewhere, get the answers from the people that actually have them.

Lol!!! I will tel my employers i am handing in my resignation so i can add the exact time the post was delivered!!

Seriously though, if it was an issue then im sure in the years i have been doing the survey that Kantar would have either fired me from the survey or at least sent me an email. As neither have happened i will continue to add dont know.

Absolutely - if I put "I don't know" as time of arrival I'm still doing the survey accurately - this is what the option is there for. If a panelist is able to put the exact time in thats all well and good - but it is gold plating to then expect all other panelists to do the same - Kantar are not seeking this level of commitment (which is why the don't know box exists!!)

My only real problem is the amount of paper in envelopes. I wish they would put more in. If your on the panel you'll know what I mean.

It all depends if they require people in your area. When there is a place in your area they will contact you to ask if you are interested. :)
