Can someone give me a little advice?

The posting schedule states that I should add a SMART to one of the letters I'm sending. However, the system didn't give me an option to allocate a SMART to the letter when I wanted to change the status to 'ready for posting'. I've checked the FAQ's but there's no advice on this point.

Shall I just send without a SMART?

    Cheers, Birdy
The most up to date posting schedule is the one on-line, and this is the one you should follow.

Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know just how sophisticated SMARTs actually are?

They're RFID (Radio-Frequency IDentification) devices, but at what points are they tracked - maybe they can be tracked to individual post boxes!

I know for a fact that they're tracked at local sorting offices - I went to my local one to pick up a parcel once forgetting that I had a test letter in my pocket to post that day.

I got a query about it fairly quickly!

So it was able to pick up the radio device in the SMART from some distance then? I wonder what the range is!

It seems that we use the same RFID system (http://www.lyngsoesystems.com/postal/postal.asp) as Australia Post (http://www.rfidjournal.com/article/view/2014).

The article doesn't say what the range is, but I imagine that information is available elsewhere.

It does make you wonder just how much locational information those SMARTs are giving out, doesn't it?

For all we know, they're being tracked at every point along the way - showing exactly which post boxes they've been put into! :D

I received my monthly stamps yesterday with three letters to post for bank holiday week, for once they appear to have actually taken account of the double bank holiday on monday and tuesday as the first item is due to be posted on the wednesday.

The short answer is that it will depend on whether/when they need anyone living in your area.

I suggest that when you are interested in any of the threads that you read through them as most questions have been asked and answered before.

A lot of the threads have full information at the beginning which is a good place to start.
