My birthday is on 1st september and I was oldest in the year! but my mum is a nursery teacher and I was born a day late so I bet she was happy coz she didn't have to put me in childcare for an extra year. Anyway, I am 5 weeks pregnant at the moment and am due on March 7th. I did plan this month because its away from my birthday, I won't have to suffer heavy pregnancy through the summer and basically March is just a nice month. It took me and OH around 3 months to conceive. This thread has been very helpful as we are in the same position as a lot of you. We both work full time OH's wage being the biggest, but mine is also quite high. BUT our income only just covers all the bills, mortgage etc and OH also has a 9 yr old from a previous relationship. So we are doing some major cutting down on spending, and planning carbbots etc. my mum has offered to buy the pram and OH has big family who will help. Also OH's sister works in Boots which will be handy!
Anyway congratulations to anyone expecting and good luck to anyone trying! x0 -

Hi, I haven't had time to read through the entire thread, so apologies if any of this has been mentioned before!
New parents waste an absolute fortune on non- essential baby products like baby lotion, baby bath, oil etc. You get lots of free samples from Bounty packs, Emma's diary etc, and all you need for your baby's skin is good old fashioned olive oil - this is all I recommend to new parents rather than smothereing baby's delicate skin with chemicals.0 -
i don't put anything on his skin, except for when he had a patch of eczema and the doctor gave us some steroid cream and some moisturiser - doublebase.
baby lotion is handy for cleaning baby's bottom, especially if you're out and using water would be fiddly. in the long run it works out well if you also start to use it on your face instead of buying make up remover or wrinkle cream
contents change but the free huggies changing bag i got when i joined the boots baby club contained a bottle of baby shampoo, we're still using it 11 months later, it lasts for ages because babies don't need shampoo every day.
congratulations to all the pregnant MSE'ers :T
and just as an aside, the organix moon biscuits or worse than rusks, they're so yummy you have to eat them as soon as you open the packet :rotfl:52% tight0 -
Babies can be money savers! They change your life so much (for the better!) so you don't go out much - to the pub or whatever (big saving!). If you are at home with them you have more time to shop, plan meals etc. If you're lucky people shower you with gifts so the first year of clothes etc is covered.
It's later on that children start to run up bills but by then you have reorganised your life anyway! If you want babies just go for it!0 -
Quite funny that I found this thread today......decided not to get next depot injection so body can get back to 'normal' before trying.....absolutely EVERYBODY around me at the mo is either pregnant, recently given birth or got under 1's/toddlers..............sooooooooo broody............must be ...even their whinging/screaming/hysterics isn't putting me off! That was my failsafe:rolleyes:0

Thanks:D
I can always tell when I'm getting broody again (apart from the yearnings)....I start thinking they are all cute and lovely...and ah bless......when they are getting hysterical and loud!!! And the cute things that they do seem soooooo much cuter:D
I'm hoping coming off depo I might lose a bit of weight as well....before I 'hopefully' get preggers and put it all back on again!:p
Having extra hormones causing through your body for 16 years can't be good for it.....
Hope you enjoyed your bath.....if indeed you got the chance!! Hope the babe's better and less narked:p0 -
This is a really wonderful and inspiring thread. OH and I lost a baby(unplanned) earlier this year...But during the time I was completely obsessed and worried about our finances whereas he was of the mind of "We will manage".. and after reading many of the posts I think I really owe him an apology. I think I was overwhelmed by the costs of things for new baby... but now I know how to be a smarter new mom, when the time comes.Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest. -Mark Twain
