That seems extremely wasteful on Royal Mail's part, and I can imagine it must end up being quite ridiculous for heavy* Special Delivery parcels; do they really expect me to stick SEVENTY 2nd class stamps (£34.62) onto a 10kg parcel?!?!?!
I can just imagine the staff struggling to count them now! and the queues.... dear lord, the queues!
*Obviously anyone using Special Delivery for a 10kg parcel has more money than sense; it was meant as an example to illustrative RM's daft system.
So, postage stamps are a daft system? Is that your point? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Here are some ways of getting super-discounted stamps or even a generous discount on your grocery shopping:
Ocado
Go via: http://www.quidco.com/ocado/
You'll get £6 cashback for your first shop. But don't use their £10 off code. Instead, if you can, get it from here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/dea...cado#deal17603
You'll then get £30 off a £90 spend. Delivery can also be free since your shopping is above £75.
N.B. the Ts and Cs of the code state not valid on stamps etc. But it worked for me! Might be best to add some bits of food in to your shop.
So that's £36 off a £90 shop which is equal to 40% off. And that's off current stamp prices before the big rise!
Alternatively, you can use the £15 off £75 shop code on Quidco if you're not an O2 customer. But people on HUKD have been using codes by inputting random numbers to get the £30 off code. That's a personal decision really. More info. here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/30-o...oments-1170053
Tesco
Best offer is £10 off a £50 spend plus £5 cashback via Quidco: http://www.quidco.com/tesco/?ac
Didn't know Tesco sold stamps online before. Once again, probably not the smartest idea to buy stamps only. Remember there is the delivery cost to factor in here; although, you may be able to get free click and collect (if your store does it).
Saving here (not including delivery) = 30% off.
Sainsbury's
£10 off a £50 spend here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/dea...urys#deal16913
It's very rare for Sainsbury's to give out codes. Only 50p ashback via Quidco on top: http://www.quidco.com/sainsbury-s/?ac
Add delivery cost too.
Not the best but a decent saving nonetheless!:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

Looking at the new pricing table it will be cheaper for me to use parcel delivery services i.e. myhermes or collectplus as these at the moment seem much cheaper then royal mail (unless they put their prices up too).
Like someone else said there will be no point in listing small items on ebay as postage will be more then they are worth. Charity shops may benefit from the RM changes then!!!No buying toiletries challenge - possibly for most of 2011,2012,2013,2014,2015!
£1 in sealed pot for each UU (2011 135/500:D) 2012 have UU 130/400 (never realised I had a mini chemist under my bed!!!) :rotfl:2013 UU 156/350. 2014 UU 197/250 2015 UU 16/100

Be aware though that you may get complaints if you use these cheaper delivery companies. As I wasn't in when a package arrived , delivered by myhermes, they threw it over my gate.
I don't think my experience is an isolated incident.
I would have preferred to go to local PO to collect.0 -
Have used myhermes lots with larger and heavier ebay items with no problems so far. Have always had positive feedback and my delivery stars rating is the same as all my other ratings. No buying toiletries challenge - possibly for most of 2011,2012,2013,2014,2015!

Ocado is now showing as OOS on stamps. :eek:0 -
So does anyone know where I could buy £5,000 worth of second-class stamps (at a discount obviously!)?0
