  • I do hope everything goes well. I met my BM when I was 25 and it didnt work out but when I met my natural father 5 years later it was much better.
It was unnerving finally meeting someone who I looked just like and we still keep in touch. though he's 87 now and very frail,

good luck for the meeting SDW. You wont disappoint hun. can I suggest taking pictures of your adoptive parents? in your mums shoes I would love to see the people who raised my child so well. of course you would have to rely on instinct on whether to show her those pics or not - you will know hun!
  • Big day tomorrow! I have bought them both some chocs and have made up a little album of photographs for birth mother showing myself and my son at various ages. I'm also taking birth mother a bouquet of flowers.

    Tomorrow afternoon, 2pm, aunt's house.....exited and nervous!

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

I really wish you well, and hope you both find in each other a real good friend and ally.
  • Good luck for tomorrow. I would suggest you start the meeting with a big hug as you will both be very nervous and the ice needs to be broken. Your BM must be quite scared tonight as she will have guilt to deal with and she will also be worried that she will disappoint!

I met my father after 45 years and have slowly built up a relationship. It will never be a normal parent/child relationship but if you can accept it for what it is then it will be a positive experience.

I will be thinking of you tomorrow afternoon and please keep us posted.

Oh brilliant, it's tomorrow! How exciting.

I hope it all goes well for all of you. Good that you are going on a retreat afterwards too.

You must have all sorts of emotions bubbling up. Am looking forward to another update, although I guess we're all aware too that it is going to be sensitive for all sides of the family so some bits may be great and some bits not as expected (although I guess you are trying hard not to expect anything in particular).
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • Not posted before but been following this thread. Wanted to wish you the very best for tomorrow and hope your meeting is all you want it to be x
  • Thanks all. I am trying not to expect anything, just to take it as it comes.

I will greet her with a hug and I am also going to tell her that everything is OK, in case she feels guilty about what she did over sixty years ago.

Will update as soon as I can, hopefully that will be tomorrow.
