I see my figures still haven't been challenged and my question to Cardew has been yet again ignored.

    Mmmm

Were those figures and that question, stated/asked when you wrote as 1carminestocky or Carespress or operastar.

Where do you live under your new name?

I suspect your consumption of gas and electricity will have reduced even more this time???

To get back to the subject of UW gas and electricity prices - which I am sure you will feel is the important issue!!
Using the company's price point for electricity and gas, I pay Utility Warehouse less for my utilities than I would to any other supplier or combination of suppliers. I use the Utility Warehouse pre payment card to good effect. If I can do it, others can too.

I am an independent distributor with Utility Warehouse and the views I express may not be shared by the company.

Againb you repeat your spam mantra regarding "paying" less to uw than "any other supplier".

    Simply wrong.

UW energy prices are very expensive compared to most suppliers.

When you say you pay less, what you mean is that your bill is higher than it would be elsewhere, but by "earning" discount by shopping using the risky cashcard, the uw takes the cashback due to you in part payment of the bill!

Perfect example of a busy fool.

Why not buy your energy from the cheapest supplier and then shop where you want to - keeping any discounts/cashback etc for yourself?

There are a lot of UW salesmen on this thread trying to promote their product, so for the benefit of new readers, and existing UW customers, be advised that:

UW gas and electricity is just about the most expensive in UK and £hundreds more than the cheapest tariff - generally around 30%.

That fact can be confirmed by checking the tariffs in any comparison website or by comparing the tariffs yourself. Use the WHICH comparison website if you wish.

There is no need to listen to either side of the argument on this thread, just confirm the facts with any independent source.

As an example the average UK customer uses 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricity. In my area(Midlands) that will cost £894 with the cheapest supplier, the cheapest UW tariff is £1,199. That is £305 and 34% more expensive if you are silly enough to have UW as your gas and electricity supplier.

To give a actual example, Essexmum(a UW customer) posted on this thread “my usage is Gas 20478 kWh pa Electric 8667 kWh pa precisely” and sought advice on how to save money – which strangely is what MSE is all about!

The cheapest tariff for her consumption in Essex would be £1,286.

The cheapest UW tariff would cost £1,753

So that is £467 more or 36% more expensive than the cheapest tariff.

She is leaving UW – can you blame her?
  • Hi

Dare I ask a question! Be nice to me please.

I'm currently with U/W for all my services. I want to switch my gas and electricity to somebody cheaper, but I like to be in control of my bills so like the pay for 'what you use' monthly system that U/W offer. Is there another supplier who offers this, but is cheaper.

I am going to keep my telephone with U/W as I do have the cashback card which I use often, plus from reading parts of this thread, they aren't to expensive for line rental etc.

    Thanks for any advice.

You could have a look at one of the British Gas Energy Smart Tariffs, these can be paid for by Variable monthly Direct debit, but wont be the cheapest accounts around.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

I know BG have such a system,(Energy Smart) but it is not available with their cheapest tariff(Websaver 6)

However even on their more expensive standard tariff with Energy Smart) BG are much cheaper than UW.

How much cheaper depends on your consumption. To give you an idea, someone in my area(Midlands) with average consumption of 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricity) would pay £1,074 with BG Standard.

The cheapest UW tariff is £1,199. So UW are £125 or 11.6% more expensive.

The cheapest on-line tariff costs £889 so UW are £310 or 34.9% more expensive.

Whilst I appreciate you want to have 'pay for what you use bills' you pay a lot extra for that facility.

Thanks for the info, what a nice helpful bunch of people on this web-site! I will have a think about going on to a fixed monthly direct debit if it will save me lots. I have all my meter readings so will have a play this afternoon on afew different switching web-sites.

Let us know who are the cheapest, and by how much, please; it is important the message gets across to Money Savers!
