You are not given accurate information by UW salesmen; at best you are given no information, but the majority of times it is implied, or stated, that UW are cheap for gas and electricity.
Take NigeWick's contributions - he constantly posts that his gas and electricity is the cheapest.
He stated this above "I showed my own figures earlier in this very thread."
He posted this in post#1102
Go back to 19/1/09(page 51) and there is no post by NigeWick as it has been deleted(there other posts on that date)
When I pointed that out I was told it 'is a lie'.
Every one of his posts on UW prices are disingenuous. He know full well that UW have just about the highest gas and electricity prices in UK - £hundreds more for the average customer; yet he constantly denies this and uses his example(which has been deleted) to support this - and refuses to give his consumption figures.
Yet he sells his gas and electricty to family and friends! Makes you think!!!
That's a very sweeping statement to make, have you met every single UW rep or are you judging them all from a couple on here?:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Nope, but when I signed up (many moons ago) they were considered competitive. I gave the rep all my bills and I was sent an estimate from UW as to how much I would save if I switched. I have kept all my old paperwork and I did save money!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I believe first:Utility's best rate relied on installing a new type of meter.
I dont think it would in Essex, I think they are only installing smart meters in the midlands region.
However you still probably made the right choice because a whopping 12.5% of first:utility's discount is paid after 12 months making them worse than Npower regarding discounts. (but still cheaper than UW of course)Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
The silence on here is deafening when you say something people don't want to hear!! I'm sure if I had said that the rep was a pushy bully it would be pats on the backs and thanks all round. I do hope that some people who read this thread but don't contribute can see both sides and realise that not all UW reps are scum of the earth.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

What percentage would you estimate?;)0 -

Probably a similar amount to all the other utilities companies that lie to get you to sign up to them, they get paid commission as well!
Exactly!!!
Surely the point is that these rogue salesmen from other companies are not allowed to come on MSE and mislead readers about the price of their products. There are over 30,000 UW salesmen so the problem is magnified many times.
Moneysupermarket takes a firmer line with UW.Due to persistent attempts by Utility Warehouse distributors to tout for business on this community forum - contravening the moneysupermarket.com Community Standards and Terms of Service - this post has now been locked. Touting for business, advertising and marketing tactics will not be tolerated by this community.
May I respectfully suggest you look for more original means to advertise your business, while checking out the following:
That was after our friend 1Carminestocky/carespress decided to spam that site.
MSE is the most widely read forum of its kind and unless someone exposed UW's prices and sales tactics, people might actually believe their misinformation!0 -

Probably in 99.9% of cases, The ONLY way you will get business is from customers who don't use comparison sites or rely on family/friends to tell them the WHOLE truth. How many people would you sign up if you actually told them they could save more than 20% by using a large number of alternative tariffs.
PAYG customers on average usage Utility Warehouse is THE MOST EXPENSIVE.
If you tell me that the average PAYG customer will pay more for service from Utility Warehouse than other companies I am quite prepared to accept that as they are not the sort of customers the company is after. Utility Warehouse is set up to use direct debit as the preferred method of payment and therefore have pricing to remain profitable.
The bottom line for me is:- I pay Utility Warehouse less for my utilities than I would to any other supplier or combination of suppliers. I use the Utility Warehouse pre payment card to good effect. If I can do it, others can too.
I am an independent distributor with Utility Warehouse and the views I express may not be shared by the company. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Do the other companies who have different tariffs tell all their customers on their highest tariffs of the cheaper ones?
Other companies don't have 30000 reps who are encouraged to sell their products to their friends and families!
Friends/families (and mothers) don't expect that their friend/relative/son will mislead them about how good a deal they can get!0
