What rules have I broken exactly? I have simply come onto this forum to counter what I thought were sometimes distorted or unwarranted statements, I certainly haven't tried to advertise the company in any way or done anything I shouldn't (as far as I am aware)......................Perhaps now we can get back on track regarding the real issues here.

Despite your protestations, you have done a lot more than merely countered statements you thought "distorted".

There are special rules for uw reps who post in this thread:
However due to past experiences some strict rules

    i. All Telecom Plus Distributers must declare it when they post

iv. Anyone breaking the above rules will be barred first of all from this board, and if they persist from the Chat Forums

In another thread you have admitted to being a uw rep, though you don't declare it in your posts, (and your posts do seem typical of a uw rep - eg your suggestion that it is only in this thread that the reps have ever attempted to mislead us, but elsewhere they don't).

You say you haven't come on here advertising your company in any way.

    What do you call this:
the UW have received numerous endorsements over the years, most recently from the "Which" consumer mag whose readers rated us No 1 for customer service & satisfaction as well as "best value" energy provider.

(and who are the "us" you refer to, if you are just here to "counter unwarranted statements"?)

In another thread you clearly advertised the uw recruitment system:
What have you got to lose? £200? Not any more......

Perhaps you just think we are all as dumb as those who sign up with you, and cannot spot an advert when you are speiling one.

    ***********************************

What do you see as the "real issues" getting neglected by your interventions?

Of all the energy companies, only uw gets isolated in its "special" thread (designed to keep all the spam etc in one space that everyone can ignore - don't you wonder why?)

Which energy company would you recommend, Quentin? :rotfl:

  • OK Cardew, fair comment! Its just that when a statement is made after a quote it does come across as being directed at that person. I accept you didn't intend that.

Quentin, as regards my not declaring I am a UW club distributor on every post, that was my mistake. I don't do forums as a rule and genuinely didn't realise I had to mention it every time. I did make it very clear on my first ever post and assumed (wrongly it would seem) that was enough.

Regarding the comment "What have you got to lose? £200? Not any more" - That was one part of an answer to another forum member who asked "can I make money with the UW?" It certainly was not my intention to advertise. I bet you are a conspiracy theorist in your spare time!

    Your comment
Perhaps you just think we are all as dumb as those who sign up with you, and cannot spot an advert when you are speiling one.
Am I mistaken or are you suggesting I am acting in an underhand way? Certainly sounds that way. If not, I apologise in advance, if so, I can only say..don't judge everyone else by your own low standards.
No doubt you will have more to say but that is my last comment on the personal side here, believe it or not, I have business to conduct.

Quentin is a mouth foaming detractor for whatever reason, accept this. I know he comes across as a psychotic nutter but, hey, maybe he is.

Cardew is a bully, with some industry knowledge and some see him as an export because of this, although he claims to have no involvement with energy companies (or at least some energy companies - so where does he get his knowledge from? I don't know either) He's eloquent with his replies to questions but that doesn't make him right.

Whatever. They have both set themselves up as the Conscience of the UK. Cardew has this weird idea that UW distributors are, wholesale, conning people, friends and family, into signing over their utilities to UW. Cardew makes the rather insulting assumption that the majority of people have no self determination whatsoever. I think that's quite patronising and I personally think he's very rude.

Given that both C and Q are extremely vociferous on this subject, almost irrational in their hatred of UW, doesn't that make you think twice about their judgement on other issues? Surely, anybody who is so focussed on one company must surely have some personal axe to grind? Otherwise, what possible conclusion could you reach?

    Maz,

There is no point in my retaliating and exchanging personal insults.

Your post above perfectly illustrates the point I have been making about attempting to ‘demonise’ Quentin and now myself. What do you feel such a post contributes to any discussion?

Also, if you believe I am rude, you might care to reflect on your opening line above.

It is quite clear, for reasons explained in great detail in this thread, that many people on MSE do not like the ethos of UW and the tactics employed by many of their reps; just accept that and move on.

Amusement in the main, and occasionally faint irritation, rather than hatred – what a silly expression to use on a discussion forum - sums up my attitude toward most of the UW reps on this forum; albeit there are a couple I like.

As for irrational! Well I like to think that is not a fair accusation; but then few of us recognise that trait in ourselves!

In any discussion forum there are some issues that cannot be proven.

UW reps crowing about the Which poll being a good example. I have set out my reasons why the Poll is flawed and can be discounted. The only ‘defence’ is to shout ever louder that Which is a respected organisation; true but IMO of no relevance in this case.

Another is UW’s claim of wonderful customer service – the Mandy Rice-Davies factor?

However of more importance are the misleading and inaccurate, at times outrageously so, claims on prices and guarantees. Quentin has done a sterling job in exposing and rebutting many of these claims and has become the target of personal abuse time and again.

So why not confine future posts to issues, as these emotive personal attacks simply damage your credibility.

Funnily enough, Cardew tried to suggest that I am some way believed he and Quentin were the same person when I at no point ever intimated such a thing. I mean, how weird is that? You are entirely right, Cardew IS a bully, a cyberspace-only one, I would imagine (how sad!) and Quentin's hatred for UW (unless something really bad has happened between him and the company in the past but as is obvious from this thread he reveals nothing about his personal situation  ) is worringly, almost psychotically, irrational. We now have Bully Cardew (or as I like to call him Hugh Jeego) stating that 'many' people on here do not like UWs ethos. Many?? How 'many' is 'many'? The man has an ego the size of Australasia.

I actually know for an absolute fact that he doesn't work in the energy industry so his obsession, particularly in promoting his 'beloved' BG, is all the more baffling. Maybe a close relative works for them? Who knows? I've given up trying to 'analyse' the man, tbh. Probably a job for a professional...

    Utility Warehouse.

Some UW distributor phoned up thinking he could advertise his wares. Explained how there was this company that offered gas, electricity, etc at a guaranteed saving. Apparently he had signed up and was so pleased with the savings he'd achieved.

So the killer question from James Max:

"So how much exactly were the savings you achieved that they guarantee?"

    Response:

"Um,... er,... well,...you see it's not quite that simple. There are lots of different discounts. But really the best thing is that I now sell the product to others and then I really earn lots of extra money as I earn a percentage of what the customers I've signed up are billed for their gas, electricity, etc. I can give you the website which explains it all"

At which point James Max cut him off and suggested the caller just emailed the details to him so he could check it out rather than allow LBC become the media on which this distributor could spam his wares.

A pity Nick Ferrarri wasn't so smart when a UW distributor (perhaps the same one?) phoned him up.

I like Bettyboo am absolutely confused. I expected to get some clear, honest and unbiased opinions when I posted an innocent question earlier.

I think I will stay where I am and suggest my husband lets his friend know that we are not interested.
I don't really like these bundles and we are so strapped for cash right now I cannot afford to make expensive mistakes.
Given that less than 3 months ago we were all urged to cap our prices and put savings into Iceland, (if only I had savings) who knows what to do in such uncertain times. It was just so much simpler when there was only one supplier.

    All very, very confusing.
