Rather than a $64,000 question, it's a bizarre non sequitur. Perhaps that's why you get no responses?

But since, for whatever reason, you ask. Yes I have but it didn't take long because I don't have many.

But presumably you want UW distributors to do this? You want to encourage them to maximise the number of victims on expensive plans? As I said, a bizarre non sequitur.

What a silly response! I could walk down any street in any town and find a large %tage of people who would save by being with UW (of course, they would also save by being with other tariffs). The vast majority of people in this country continue to pay their energy company's standard tariff needlessly. Now then, how come this is so? If every one of the 'experts' on here agreed to get all their friends on the best tariff for them (and obviously keep up to date like I have had to do with all my friends who i got on Click 5 and now they have been told to transfer to Click 6) then people paying over the odds for gas/electric could be massively reduced. The fact they ignore my question tells me one thing: They like having a go at UW distributors for getting people on a cheaper tariff and getting rewarded but clearly can't be arsed to do it for their friends for nowt. Hypocrites...

PS I see Quentin's done a runner again. He really doesn't like being asked questions, does he?

Can you show me where I or the Which Magazine claimed Uwdc were the cheapest provider for Energy ,

Cardew are you really suggesting if a relation of mine worked for British Gas I would give them excellent reviews if my service from them was poor ,

    You ask two questions.

Firstly why do you think I am addressing my comments to you personally?

Loads of UW reps, on the now deleted thread about Which and this thread have made claims that they were top in every category including best value. e.g:
Utility Warehouse was voted the best energy supplier in the UK for value for money, customer service etc.

I suppose we will now have a semantic discussion that 'value for money' has nothing to do with price.

Secondly I am very much suggesting that vested interests will determine the how people vote in a poll.

Cyprus will vote for Greece in the Eurovision song contest, Baltic states will vote for each other.

Miners voted Arthur Scargill as BBC Man of the Year. Jean-Marie Le Pen was voted Man of the year in France.

UW reps and their families voting for UW in the Which poll? - mmmmm. Let others decide if that could possibly happen.
  • I agree with Maz,
UW is an alternative. If peope like it they'll do it, if they don't like it, they won't
The bottom line is...UW is a growing business with many satisfied customers., but it is never going to appeal to everybody.

Regarding the constant attacks by some on UW, do they , I wonder, feel the same way about other companies such as the one who 2 or 3 years ago advertised FREE services when you signed up to a lengthy contract when in fact they couldn't even provide the FREE service to about 80% of the new customers they took on? And what about the companies who give new customers a cheaper rate than existing customers? Just a thought!

I see this morning that the arguments over the "Which" report persists. I earlier mentioned the numerous newspaper reports which highlighted UW, strangely, nobody has mentioned them.

Do the "other companies" you mention get their reps to come on here and try to bend the rules to get free advertising?

(Reps who often don't declare their interest, of course)

    redarrow,

This thread is about all things UW.

I really fail to understand why you feel that the failings of other companies should be discussed in this thread.

If you look on this forum there are hundreds of threads discussing in the greatest detail the very real, or imagined, shortcomings of the ‘Big 6’ and every other utility company. Even the much respected, non-profit making, Ebico is not immune from criticism.

The major criticisms of UW centre on their misleading claims and selling techniques; in particular the attempts by some of their 16,600 representatives to spam this and other websites.

For this latter reason Martin has decided that the sensible solution would be to have this thread. It seems to me that some UW reps feel this grants licence for them to make claims without any intervention from other contributors.

There is now a very clear campaign to demonise any UW detractors. Quentin initially received the most flak, yet his posts are generally a carefully researched rebuttal of inaccurate claims.

You would be far better to address issues instead of constantly whining about unfair treatment.

IMO UW hierarchy would be well advised to dissuade their reps from participating in this thread. As a platform to advertise UW it has turned out to be a massive ‘own goal’.

(I now know how Paxman felt :p ) What company are you with, Quentin? Would you recommend them?

  • Hi Quentin, you said

I can only say...,Who knows! Unless of course they admit to doing so, but then UW hasn't advertised with misleading info to the whole country which is a little bigger than this forum.
Fortunately, I think most people are sensible enough to look past the comments on sites like this before making a final decision for themselves.

You say uw hasn't used misleading advertising outside of this forum - come off it!

As every reader of this thread knows, the ASA cannot step in over misleading claims made by the uw on the net, but it has adjudicated against them many times for false and misleading advertising elsewhere!

    ============================================

Why do you keep breaking the rules? Elsewhere you have admitted to being a uw rep, but seem to have decided you no longer are bound by the forum rules.

What rules have I broken exactly? I have simply come onto this forum to counter what I thought were sometimes distorted or unwarranted statements, I certainly haven't tried to advertise the company in any way or done anything I shouldn't (as far as I am aware).

Funny thing that, I didn't realise having an opinion was whining, sorry! To be perfectly honest, I don't give a rat's rear end what people like yourself think of UW, it is your opinion and you have every right to express it. Equally, I have the right to disagree.

Perhaps now we can get back on track regarding the real issues here.

The "whining" comment was directed at the UW reps on this thread who do indeed whine about any criticism - not you individually.

As you say we are entitled to express our opinion about UW and will continue to do so in the future.

Please do get back on track bring up some real issues, but I suggest you make sure that any statements are accurate or Quentin will be on you like a ton of bricks!
