Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

Hi Billsavings
I haven't a clue and I doubt if any UW distributor has either. If it is important to you then perhaps contacting a local AD and ask them to find out.
99% of UW distributors are ordinary people that work their UW businesses part time or spare time - we don't work for UW. We aren't in the business of working out calculations or the ins and outs of a dog's flea ear. All we do is recommend something to someone and ask them if they would like to try it. That's it and all of it.
There may be some UW distributors who like to delve into how things are worked out but I doubt if there are many. We trust the company to know what they are doing. In return they pay us for gathering customers. If members find they like what UW offers them they continue to use the services, if not they leave.
I'm sorry if this answer is not satisfactory but it's correct for the vast majority of us.
I'm not going to be disingenuous by suggesting it's a mischief making question (I would have if it came from 2 other people) but to be honest does it really matter? What really matters is than overall BT charge far more than UW (and everyone else probably), whatever the figures. I saved a lot since I left them and I'm sure most people would if they did as well.
Best wishes
Steve

Just saving it in case it gets deleted/altered.0 -
Cardew - it isn't astounding at all. It is the way it is. All our job is is to show people something warts and all - we don't hide anything or shouldn't - I never have and I doubt many you attack do either.
You might like the idea of trying to paint the Utility Warehouse as some devil and the distributors as the devil's disciples but it won't work.
It is not in my or any other distributor's interests (let alone the company's long term interests) to deliberately deceive. The company have made mistakes and no doubt will continue making mistakes but compared with your 'favourite' companies such as BT and BG these are minor. And don't bring the rubbish up about the ASA.

The bottom line as I have continually said is if people feel they will benefit then they join. If they don't they won't. Comparing rates is a fools errand. But if people like to do it then they can try and work it out for themselves.
Once again. I am NOT repeat NOT in the business of rate chasing, rate comparing or anything else. I am in the business of recommending something based on mine and others experiences. I have saved money. Other people can. Others may not.
End of story!

By the way Cardew you still haven't answered my question. What a surprise. And you dare to criticise the modus operandi of UW. Constantly refusing to answer my very simple question and then bring this rubbish up again is equally dishonest and hypocritical as what you are trying (again) to accuse us reps of doing.
Pathetic

UW Customer & Distributor - apologies - forgot to write in my last 2 posts)0 -
Whilst we are talking of modus operandi, Cardew's is deliberately ignoring questions he can't answer! What makes him 'different', though, is unlike most people once they've dug themselves into rather a large hole.....he actually KEEPS digging :rotfl:Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Maybe he'll reach Australia one day:rotfl:
The problem Carmine is he really has no understanding what the Utility Warehouse is about. It's an age old antic - what you don't understand you attack.

Keggs,
The point is you don't point out the 'warts' at all, and from the UW website is almost impossible to decipher for conditions and exclusions. A masterpiece of obfuscation.
When Quentin(in the main) myself and now 'billsavings', point out the warts, we get attacked.
What on earth have BG or BT got to do with UW; even if they are poor companies, does that excuse UW's conduct?
You have spent too much time listening to The Troll.
I am with BG because I gambled in 2005 and am on the cheapest tariff in force in UK(I believe) 2.1p/7p gas/electricity including VAT and before discounts are taken off.
I am with BT for phone and internet because I personally have had excellent service with them over many years, and my friends who have changed have all regretted that action.
You are absolutely correct that it is not in UW's long term to deliberately deceive. Which begs the question why the 'deception' on their price comparisons - on phone rental as pointed out above, and the gas/energy 'guarantee' that is absolutely worthless.
It is just too easy dismiss the Advertising Standards Agency verdicts on UW as rubbish.
All some members of this Forum are pointing out is the flaws with UW.0 -
Because that is their modus-operandi on everything they sell. They take the 'worst case' scenario of a competitors product and compare it with their 'best case scenario' No attempt to compare 'like with like'.
Very good point, Ok lets take a look
BT line rental if you pay via DD = £10.50
UW line rental if you pay via DD = £8.99Max duration for "free" or "fixed price" calls
BT = 60 mns
UW = 75 mnsBT Total Broadband: Option 3Up to 8Mb download speeds
Wireless router, unlimited data per month free calls eve and weekend£24.99 per month plus £10.50 line rental = £35.49 per month
UW BroadCall Plus
Up to 24mb download speed
Wireless router, unlimited data per month plus free weekend calls and also free calls to the top 10 international destinations and the cost inc line rental is £24.99 = £24.99
I could move on to the other services but the size of this post would be large so I hope this helps to show that UW do compare like for like and as you can see UW come out much better!:j0 -

Wouldn't you have to add £1.50 to that £35.49 figure for a paper bill? Total £36.99?And isn't the BT broadband on an 18 month contract? It would appear that UW has no contract lock-in? Of course, if you were happy to accept a 24 month contract and 60gb monthly data allowance, for £7 per month less than the BT broadband mentioned here, you could get a laptop thrown in.
Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Yes BT is a 18 month deal the price of the BT bill is if you pay dd and paperless UW do not have any contract but there is a canx chanrge of £50 in the first year. and if you go for the laptop deal then its £29.99 per month all in!:j0
