    I agree - excellent point!

Avon, Tuppaware, Pippa Dee, Ann Summers and Utility Warehouse are all much the same type of company.

Perhaps UW could produce a card where you could get 10% off the products of those companies;)

give telecomplus a try you will be pleasently suprised.
    UW SPAM AGAIN

We aren't in the business of working out calculations or the ins and outs of a dog's flea ear. All we do is recommend something to someone and ask them if they would like to try it. That's it and all of it.

There may be some UW distributors who like to delve into how things are worked out but I doubt if there are many. We trust the company to know what they are doing.

    Certain conflict there methinks!

No point in mentioning about advertising links in your post I suppose.

Good point. Plus, Martin, in his first post on this thread stated ALL people who work for energy companies should make it clear when posting on here. Doesn't happen but there would only appear to be me who tries to get them to do it (then I get the 'usual suspects' attacking me for it). It really is ridiculous that UW reps are singled out like this.

    Hi Carmine

My own take on all this that I get the impression there are around half a dozen individuals who have no real interest in discussing what the Utility Warehouse has to offer which could benefit people. Instead their real agenda is to denigrate the company and anyone associated with it. It seems rather strange to me that these individuals spend so much energy villifying rather than genuinely discuss the company's merits.

Why? I have my on suspicions but obviously can't prove it.It wouldn't matter what is said on here from UW supporters, these people are pre-programmed to attack. Have they been told to?

On top of that distributors are accused of spamming when genuinely trying to answer pertinent questions.

Perhaps I've been watching too many conspiracy theory films

If all IDs here stopped stating they are IDs will we all be reported?

  • Hi Steve

The Spamming comment was aimed at poundsforu who is breaking the forum rules about posting a link to his website.

Unfortunately, as a consequence, we all get tarred with the same brush.

Also, on the subject of UW distributors, I think it is an over-simplification to say what you think most distributors are like. We are all different and I would prefer to answer for myself rather than be lumped in with over generalisations. I believe that billsavings question was a genuine one and I will attempt to answer it for him ( once I have been able to work it out :D )

My final comment goes out to all posters on this thread to remind them that there is forum etiquette that states that we should be nice to each other, even if we do disagree or feel attacked.

    That's my twopenneth worth

    Keggs,

Mindful of the exhortation from the most sensible UW rep on the Board to be nice to each other, and to save you bursting a blood vessel, a couple of answers.

I have never worked for BG, I have never worked in any industry that has any connection with the utility supply industry. I have worked and lived abroad for many years, and still spend several months of each year abroad in property I own. I am currently abroad which accounts for the late hour in UK of this posting and because the sea is too rough for me to go fishing!

I have a wide portfolio of stocks(far too many Banks!) including a very few for BG and Centrica and a number of other UK Utility firms. My dividends from BG and Centrica last year were certainly no more than a few hundred pounds.

I get my gas and Electricity from BG in UK, I am no fan of BG, I am no apologist for BG, I am amused by the irrational attacks on BG.

So if that sets your mind at rest about my involvement with BG, you can perhaps address other issues, and not be wound up by that nice man.

I don’t like UW very much. I don’t like the way they advertise. I don’t like the way many reps operate. I don’t think they offer good value.

Above all on a Money Saving forum discussing gas and electricity I feel it is perfectly in order to express those views without you and others – led by the nice man! – implying that I and Quentin and anyone else who challenges UW must have an ulterior motive.

    Mike by the sea,
I believe that Keggs’ views on the expertise and knowledge of the average UW rep are perfectly valid if this thread is representative. I of course exclude you from that observation.

No I didn't although I am aware they are currently doing well, tripled in a year?

I am not an 'ethical investor' and have made money from firms that I dislike and lost money with firms I admire.

The reason, again not as a dig, is companies like UW have no underlying value and I prefer to invest in solid companies like Banks:cry:

Leaving aside my views on Telecom Plus, they are the sort of company where you can make a lot of money in a short time, or lose it in an even shorter time!!

    Too speculative for my taste.

Oh dear  . No wonder you are so grumpy at the moment. Why didn't you say this earlier, I'd have tempered some of my comments. Probably.

Talking of banks and investments and their current modus operandi (there's that expression again), I thought Rory Bremner came up with the best description of them at the moment. He said it may say BANK on the frontage but behind lurks a casino. :D

Edit: Forgot to say, the investing world has been turned on its axis at the moment, physical assets are not the attraction they used to be, cash is king. Telecom Plus is, relatively speaking, a very profitable, cash-rich, debt-free company, selling low-cost* solutions with none of the inevitable expenditure associated with the huge companies it is competing with. A major advantage in these markets IMO. This is clearly not a tinpot company (like most network marketing companies tend to be), market capilisation over £200 million with a large cash pile last time I looked. Buying their new HQ for £9 million CASH tends to back this up.

    * I realise this will be disputed but even the most ardent naysayer (if they are entirely honest, of course) will admit that their prices are at least competitive in the marketplace (and very probably cheaper than the VAST majority of the GB popuation are currently paying).
    Call me Carmine....

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??
  • Huh? He was replying to a post of mine about broadband, exactly how far in this thread have you bothered to read?

I did bother to read the thread :D it was madjock77 who introduced the Broadcall Product earlier post no 779 to be precise.

Your notice he does not declare his interest when discussing the subject. Does not compare like for like LLU v Non LLU,does not include membership fee etc etc
