He would find it very difficult to prove that the reputation or standing of the individual behind the username has been tarnished in any way. If he was identitifed by his real name, or his real business interests were targetted then that would be a different matter, but libel litigation is expensive, so individual-to-individual cases are rare. Company-to-individual cases are different. The cost of litigation to a company like Which? or UW would be small beer if it was to move to protect it's reputation against an individual or individuals who were posting things they couldn't prove to be true. The loser could pay dearly. But it would be up to the companies involved, not me, jimexbox, Quentin, Cardew, Martin Lewis, Gordon Brown, The Pope, or anyone else.
I don't believe anyone has libelled Which magazine or UW. No one, you or a rep has provided one shred of evidence to support such a claim. So why make it in the first place?0 -

"and a good job the ASA doesn't intervene over misleading claims made by the uw on the net."
A clear accusation against UW.

So you would agree that Quentin's statement is possibly libellous? Or not?
Can hardly be considered libellous to pose a question. (There was no "Quentin statement" as you allege! Using your own interpretation of libel, then to keep repeating I made a "statement" will be a libel then!)
Suggesting that somehow a nickname can be libelled by a question shows how puerile this new "libel" witch-hunt is!0 -

Your question was 'is that how you used to stitch people up as a copper' or words to that effect.
Your question regards the methods of stitch up and assumes the act as fact. This is what is meant by an implied accusation. The method of hiding your accusation in a question simply demonstrates your underhanded and hostile methods of UW and UW ID bashing.
Any comment regarding your accusations against me regarding npower's discounts?

No other reputable company's rep would wear this like a badge on all of their posts:
And that relates to your potentially libellous accusations how?

In the past the uw has been safe from ASA intervention because it didn't regulate online advertising.
Plenty of examples of that in the archives!
And you can provide examples or evidence that UW (not independent reps, but the company itself) has taken advantage of this?

During your crusade against libellous posts against an anonymous nickname, surely you realise it's no good just making up the alleged libel by using words of your own?In message 2824 you stated "Nigewick, you used to boast you are an ex-copper.
Is this how you used to stitch people up?"
That discussion seems fairly heavily pruned so I assume the board admins here thought the posts were inappropriate, even if you don't.
