Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

If janninew makes her longest calls to her gran (feel the love) during daytime then she could recommend her gran through the Customer Discount Plan for at least telephone and would then get free calls to her gran since UW telephone to UW telephone calls are free at all times. Likewise for gran to Janninew calls as well.
She would also get the CDP 0.5% discount for each service her gran takes knocked off her own bill. Recommending 10 people would on average cut her own bill by 20% if they each take 4 services which is the average number of services new customers have been taking over the last year. So the bigger janninew bill is the more money discount this 20% would be worth. So therefore if someone was to recommend it would be beneficial to have as many services with UW as possible as this would maximise the discount.
If janninew cannot keep the broadband with UW at least she will be able to get free calls to her gran during daytime and at no extra cost if Janninew gran is also UW customer.
The CDP discount is applied on total bill before the UW cashback card discount is applied. Recommend enough friends and her bill will be free (upto £250 a month of bill value from CDP discount) and then the cashback card discount will be paid directly to Janninew.
Just thought I would give Janninew another option as I hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere else.
Likewise I suppose its available to any UW customer, but not with other companies apparently.Quentin's Cashback Card?
Let no man, advert or internet site tell me where to get my Utilities0 -
Is that really the best you can do?
How about evening calls? - free on BT
How about weekend calls - free on BT
How many daytime calls in a month would it take for BT Anytime at £4.95 for all calls 24/7(including 0870/0845) to be the better bet?
Jannienew who raised this issue was talking about very long calls to her Granny(presumably at weekends/evening). Wouldn't they cost with UW - free with BT.
She was particularly keen to know UW do free evening and weekend calls - like BT.
If they were during the day, what about BT Anytime?
So run that by me again please with what you consider average numbers of calls?
So once again a statement with no basis of fact is trotted out in the hope that it will become the 'gospel' according to Carmine.
No wonder none of your disciples rushed in to help you out.
(Noting the time of the reply and attempting to make allowances).
Evening and weekend calls with BT are NOT free, if we are comparing like with like. There's a price to pay if you want inclusive evening and weekend calls. If you don't want to commit to them for any length of time (including avoiding the disgraceful 'rolling contract') the cost is £2.95/mth. You never seem to acknowledge these commitment when trying to compare anything, whether it be gas/electric or now phone costs. Why not? BT clearly place a price on it. As do other suppliers (Be broadband charge £4.50/mth more for no min commitment broadband, for instance).
janninews case is a difficult one. Her cashback card discount is key here. One thing's for sure, I'm sure she personally wouldn't be better off going back to BT, lol.
Forgot to say, hope you are well this morning?Call me Carmine....

Methinks jimexbox protesteth too much...........
Not at all, I prefer to use repeatable verifiable evidence that is fact, rather than heresay (poor band), which UWreps rely on. Whatever I post about my own usage I will undoubtedly be accused of fabrication (unlike carmine;)). That is why I've posted the official Ofgem standard user figures, with postcode so the UW apologists can confirm these figures for themselves....
Comparison site : Energyhelpline
I've used Bucks County Council postcode : HP20 1UA
I've used my own Eon online tariff 'save online' as the initial comparison, using Ofgems official standard user definition 20500 kWh gas and 3300 kWh electricity, paying monthly direct debit.0 -

Erm, not quite right. You prefer to use "projections" that are subject to change in the future. Also, your "evidence" is for one specific usage amount which of course is fine for those on that particular amount, but, not for the rest of us who are not "standard" or "average" users. Looking on the bright side, at least you are not using hearsay for your own usage, current supplier and tariff as you have never posted them. Carmine and I have posted our numbers for members to see.

Its verifiable by anyone who cares to use the data Ofgem has provided, therefore fact. Nige you can divert all you want, facts are facts. Rather that a mate of rep who has a tortoise called Alan received a zero bill. Which is pure anecdotal evidence, therefore null and void.
Using Ofgems own guidelines figures, UW are 23% more expensive than the cheapest tariff, Fact0 -
That seems a good system.
I got all that free with BT - no £50 connection charge, a second line, No £2 rental, caller ID and call minder on both lines for free(inclusive in the zero charge)
.
I'm not returning and I'm not going to debate with you. Your sarcastic remark failed to realise one very simple thing. The system IS NOT an equivalent to a second BT line so should not be seen as such. Nor is it anything similar to Skype so cannot be compared with that either It is a portable telephone line that can be taken anywhere in the world. The adapter can be plugged into any compatible router and calls are charged at the same rate as UW's normal HomePhone service. So it is admirably useful for Carmine's friend's son. Otherwise it would cost him around £120 for a new line from BT to be installed. Yes, I know they can get one for free. BUt this ends 30th September according to BT's web site.
It is not an eqwuivalent to BT or Cable burt a portable alternative.0 -

BT have extended the offer to 31/12/09.

However i doubt that a first year student would want to get involved in a long contract.
Unless your on cable only broadband or possibly ? mobile broadband you would need a landline to be in place to connect the broadband for the Internet Phone connection.0 -

Thanks for the info, Keggs. So, I'm assuming my mate's son uses the UW internet 'thingy' (how technical am I?) with his router in his digs and does that qualify him for inclusive calls on my mate's UW global calls package (it will be 24/7 as he's taking the 4 services). Does his son get allocated a completely separate phone number? How about someone else other than my mate ringing him? Would that be equivalent to a local call for them? Sorry to be a pain but I don't want to go back with wrong info.
PS Nigel, why do you bother with him? Is it REALLY worth it?Call me Carmine....
