I signed up for the fixed rate tariff before the big price rises so I'm still paying less than the current cheapest deals. I'm not a serial switcher and I'm happy with the deal I have with SP, I keep an eye on it and if something better comes along I'll think of moving seeing as there is no exit fee on my tariff. The announcement on friday on the BBC website now makes me think a better deal is unlikely to come along so i'll probably stay put until 2011
My post was in slight jest, just demonstrating it is annoying having your choices queried all the time. Fact is, NONE os us are on the very best deal for us all the time, it would be impossible to be. You just have to get the best deal you can overall.Call me Carmine....

According to this:

You can get something called "MoreTalk 3" from UW for £7.75 a month which gives you inclusive calls to UK landlines at any time.
Though given that UW "free" calls only seem to be free for the first 75 minutes anyway, as I understand it it might actually be cheaper to use 18185.co.uk for long UK phone calls even for those people who do have "free" calls with UW. Though admittedly this does require you to remember to dial 18185 before dialling each time. (A sticker on the handset until you get into the habit perhaps?)
Thanks for this! I will look into it tonight. I'm very rarely on the phone for over 75 minutes anyway! My Nan is with Talktalk and she has to hang up and call me back if she is on for over an hour or she will get charged. I wonder if its the same deal with UW?:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

It's 75 minutes with UW, janninew. 18185 is really only for people who make very few calls, but I see it really does gte pushed a lot on the phones forum...Call me Carmine....

You can make a 75 minute call then simply hang up and dial again. No charge. Far better than dialling 18185 before every ruddy call.I just don't get this 18185 love, personally. Gets bummed to death on the phones forum. Plus a worrying trend is that they recently increased 0845 call rates from 0.5p per min to 3p per min. Just a 500% increase there.

Hello All
As you all probably know I am currently a happy UW customer but I'm needing some advice as my situation has changed!
I have today been provided with a laptop and internet access which will be paid for by my employee. So now I no longer need to pay UW for broadband. So what is going to happen now? Will I lose my free calls if I cancel my broadband?
I'm confused about what I should do?
Any help? I am now thinking that maybe I should just keep my landline with UW and change suppliers for gas and electric, but I'm very wary. If I just use UW for landline and calls, do they offer free calls after 6.00pm and the weekends? I really need to keep at least one service with UW as I use the cashback card very heavily.
Any ideas?
If you only keep one service eg phone your just get calls to other uw customers.

UW offer More Talk 2 inclusive evening and weekend calls for £3.25 a month.
If your make less then 92 E&W calls a month your better off paying their normal evening and weekend rate of just 3.5p a call.
As i said earler their is no guarantee that 18185 will work from UW perhaps a distributor can advise.0 -
hey ypaymore your good !! ever thought of being a distributor!!!! hope your smiling!!0

Fact is, UWs standalone call rates are very good anyway. They certainly blow away BT (most definitely) and talktalk (I think, lol). In your case, you really need to keep some contact with UW on account of the cashback card. This is a bit of an imponderable, TBH.
Edit: just checked and oh yes, they poop on talktalk's call rates, frankly.Call me Carmine....
