Instead you continue writing the same rubbish in the hope a casual visitor will believe you.

    Pathetic

Defining absolutely verifyable facts about UW very high prices as 'rubbish' - would not be unexpected from a UW salesman.

However how very astute of you to realise that we are indeed hoping that a casual visitor will read our comments and appreciate that UW do indeed have just about the highest gas and electricity prices in UK.

Did you think that we were trying to convince you that UW have just about the highest gas and electricity prices in UK? You are fully aware of that fact, however as a UW salesman you are hardly going to admit the truth on a forum you think is a platform to enhance UW's image.

I suggest that you would be better employed in redoubling your efforts on the other website where Quentin has access. I was quite impressed with his account of your many criticisms of UW in that 'closed' forum.
  • This thread could (and has!) run and run. There is no resolution as each 'side' is coming from a different angle. I think the anti-UW members want to deal in 'bare' prices (which is understandable and fair) and the pro-UW promote the benefits of multi-service, Cashback card, free calls, and all the other benefits of being a UW Club Member.

I guess the 'anti' lot just 'aren't interested' in the 'pro' arguments - so there is no end to it!

The latest Which? arrived today, and despite UW coming top again, they also state that 'whilst UW's landline, broadband, and mobile deals are competitively priced, for gas and electricity you'll pay around 20% more than with the cheapest supplier on the market'. I use the Which? articles as credibility with customers, so whilst it doesn't phase me to have this in print, I think if we want to use the positives that Which? promote, as UW ID's we'll have to take this negative too. I am comfortable I can handle it though.

I guess, at the end of the day, the anti-UW folks are just not the kind of customers UW are looking for as being part of the Club and taking advantage of all it's benefits are of no interest...

Have you spoke to Which magazine and found out who supplies their gas and electricity? ;)

No - have you? I am sure that they use whoever is best for their needs. Don't be so sure it's just going to be down to price though.

Thanks for that, Cardew. You didn't post up the amount of Tier 1 units you pay per quarter on your April 2010 deal and the amount of Tier 1 units people on Click 1 pay on per quarter and the relevant notes/small print were missed off on your .jpg (did Xbox do it for you?). Have you got the rest of the .jpg? Is it the same? Thanks. ;)

    Don't mention it carmine;)!

Did you not read my post above fully?
Their Standard Tariff on that date for my area was 17.452p/10.457p electricity and 5.207p/2.941p gas and the tier 1 levels were the same as previously

The Click Tariff on that date was 10.697p/8.53p elect and 3.325p/2.553p gas - tier levels same as previously. The dual Fuel discount remained the same as the 2010 tariff.

The relevant notes (2) and (6) are on page 19 of the booklet I put on the .jpg and state tier 1 for electric is 225kWh a quarter and gas is 1,143kWh a quarter.(the same as my BG 2010 April 30 tariff

I do note that according to Energyhelpline the tier1 allocation is now 125/670kWh for Click which I assume changed when they reduced the tier 1 allocation on all BG tariffs. However the Tier 1 price per kWh has increased to compensate for that reduction. i.e. The gas Tier 1 on Click has increased by 107% from Sep 2006 and the Tier 2 by 'only' 31%

He did say they were the 'same as previously' - there is not difference in tiers between the 2 tariffs.

Note the tone of the post - as if Cardew has something to hide. A career in tabloid journalism awaits....

    Avenger,
Thanks for that, and the rest of a balanced post.

That is exactly the point I have been at pains to make for a while.

Do you not feel that frank admission does not sit well with the TVG?

    Ha ha, nice try!;)

I sit down with all my potential customers with a view to finding out what their experience is with their current suppliers, and what they want from the supplier of their services.

I'll then present the benefits of being a Club Member in conjunction with the 3rd party cred, ask them, based on what they have seen if they would like to join and if so, what services they want from us. I leave the decisions on VFM, tariffs etc completely up to them and don't try to sell them something they clearly won't benefit from.

To be fair, if someone is only interested in energy, it's generally a case of comparing tariffs unless they've had a bad experience with their current supplier and price isn't an issue. Naturally if it comes down to price and we're not cheaper, then it's a no-brainer for them to stay where they are. That said, and I speak from experience, many many people will move suppliers on the basis of many other things than price due to the shoddy way they have been treated.

Agree with this entirely! I had a bad experience with one of the big 6 and it has put me off using them for life! If I have to pay a little extra every month for great service and no stress, I will pay it. I would much rather do that then experience another year of hell that I went through a few years ago. Until you actually go through something like I did, you don't realise quite how stressfull it can be. They do say that you get what you pay for!

    janninew,

Nobody would disagree with your decision, as has been said several time.

You are prepared to pay extra for the good service you have been given.

The image is being carefully fostered on this thread is that UW service is excellent, and genuine input from people like yourself help give that impression.

However there are plenty of people who have posted on this, and other forums, about the poor service they have received from UW

Who is correct? Certainly I don't know.

The thrust of my criticism has always been the very high prices for gas and electricty and the selling tactics designed to obscure that fact.

I'm getting confused, I've given you a projected spend of £1345 for the next 12 months,
That's not what you have used to date though, is it? I am interested in seeing your actual usage, current provider and tariff. This will tell us what you are doing now. You can project as many figures into the future and prices may go up or down making those projections completely useless. We have been over the "trust" issue before. I do not trust projections or averages because they are not going to be accurate for others. You claim to be saving money, that's great, I am happy for you. Show us exactly how by producing the actual numbers.

I am fed up with your prevarication on this subject. Are you going to show us your actual usage, current provider and tariff, or not? A simple no, or, a yes with the information will do.
