My bill this month started out at £80 but of course I had £36 cashback card discount to deduct from that (you know, that initiative that the comparison sites choose never to mention but which reduced my bill by approx 45% this month )
I'll answer this in private so the BIG 3 cannot hear.Quentin's Cashback Card?
Let no man, advert or internet site tell me where to get my Utilities0 -
vinnyph,
I take it you are not going to reply to post#6416
Is there a reason for not replying? Could it be that your figures were incorrect?0 -
Plushchris wrote: »That article doesnt discredit anything, it says they are going to investigate the comparison services (first paragraph seeing as you obviously didnt read it) it also seems to focus on insurance comparisons not gas and electricity (I dont think the FSA have anything to do with the gas and electricity industry do they?)
The guardian even have their own comparison service advertised on that very same page (on the right halfway down)
And your legendary selective memory once again makes a comeback, I said (a long time ago) that there have been times I have had to "juggle" bills in order to get everything paid, I am not in that position any more and havent been for some time. There has never been a time I have had to "rob peter to pay paul" thats just rubbish, there has been the odd time I've needed to delay paying a bill for a couple of weeks so I can pay something else, nobody has been "robbed" and everyone has been paid.
A plethora of DD's?? Where did you get that from? I have two DDs (one for gas & electric and one for Phone and broadband) where you just have one, I cant see how you can call 2 of anything a plethora
Changing suppliers only involves a credit check when you switch to a company that runs credit checks, I've already told you I am with Scottish power (who do run credit checks) so whats your point seeing as I must have passed the credit check to switch to SP in the first place?
You really should get your facts right, it would save you from further embarassment.
It's the OFT, mate, not the FSA. And please highlight where it states in that article they are NOT looking at gas and electric? If it's on a comparison site I'm sure it will be looked at. Are you suggesting that if there's a suspicion that comparison sites are giving wrong info on, say, car insurance, the info they also give on gas and electric won't be investigated? I like your use of the word 'seems', that's far less assured than the rest of the 'claims' you are making. Did you even know about this OFT investigation before I posted the link? I'm suspecting not.
The act of delaying a payment to one company in order to pay another company is indeed referred to as 'robbing peter to pay paul'. As you well know, it's a figure of speech for what you used to do all that time ago. It's not like I've made this up, you offered all the info previously without prompting. Never mind.
PS Are mobile contract checks more stringent? You stated on here at one time you were looking at UWs PAYG offerings due to your less than squeaky clean credit rating....Call me Carmine....

HaHa! I'm assuming you are never going to reply to all my posts containing awkward questions I've posed to you over the last few days. You know, the ones about have you ever posted an untruth on here or posted deliberately misleading info? Could it be that my suspicions regarding your integrity are entirely founded? Without a doubt the most breathtakingly hypocritical person I have ever encountered, online of offline. (shudders). Here's the list of posts I'm waiting for an answer to:

For the benefit of anyone not bothering to reaad this whole thread, uw reps are only allowed to post here if they declare their interest.
vinnyph is a uw rep, but doesn't seem to think the site rules refgarding declaring your interest as a rep apply to him.
(Abusing the pm system like this to pass on details and advertise is against the rules too!)0 -

I can remember seeing the article when someone posted it on here when it was published.
The article makes only one reference to gas and electricity then goes on to say the sites have come under scrutiny from the FSA (which have nothing to do with gas and electricity) and the The British Insurance Brokers' Association (which I'm fairly sure have nothing to with gas and electricity either)
Can you highlight where in the article it DOES state they are looking at gas and electric?
It saysFinancial comparison sites such as Comparethemarket.com and Confused.com, which offer quotes on car insurance to gas and electricity deals, have come under the scrutiny of the main City watchdog, the Financial Services Authority.
The mention of gas and electricity is describing the comparison sites, then it mentions the FSA (which have nothing to do with gas and electricity) why would the FSA be interested in gas and electricity?
PS: Yes mobile checks are more stringent, whats your point?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
For the benefit of Carthorse, QueerThing and JimmySexyBox, a lot more information was provided than publicly posted here. You boys are at a distinct disadvantage because you don't know what was said. I ain't gonna tell you either, but you should be used to my 'deceipt' by now.
And before you say it, yes I know you're on Ignore, but sometimes I like to have my fun, y'know?
Very childish, I suppose if you wont apologise for your past deceitful behaviour we haven't a hope for these puerile comments. I'm sure a UW rep/customer will strangely spring to your defence....0 -
I think you are right Rael. Quentin likes to know everyone's business. What did they say about the curious cat.

Oh dear. It's an OFT investigation as you well know (well, now you know, lol). I've admitted when I'm wrong in the past, why don't you now? It only hurts for a day or 2, seriously.Call me Carmine....
