People should not even think about it if they look to get only 9 customers and become a millionaire. The way it works is more complicated than you suggest so I advise you not to use your presumptions in order to only try to put it across it a bad light. You are only going to try to find bad things with it I am not going to tell you. You are the type of person who would even find god wrong and you right.

To be honest it could be argued that you constantly use underhand methods to attempt to undermine UW and Distributors without knowing much about it as you try to claim. UW beating cashback card springs to mind. Your brain washing americans, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc....

    This is totally unnecessary unpleasantness.

One of your members enquires about how many customers are needed for reps to just make enough to cover their bills.

The answer given by the uw rep is 50.

I point out (for the benefit of the interested prospect) that 50 is far from "easy" to attain, as the average is only 9!

So to get enough out of being a rep (costs £200!) you need to get more customers than 5 times the average achieved!
  • You really should keep up to date with the news, PC. It would save you from further embarrassment.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009/aug/30/office-fair-trading-price-comparison-websites

And we know UW isn't for you on account of you previously informing us you 'rob Peter to pay Paul' each month so prefer a plethora of DDs as opposed to the one and have a less than squeaky clean credit record. I think changing suppliers involves a credit check, doesn't it? Your credentials to offer money saving advice seem about as reliable as Cardew's...

That article doesnt discredit anything, it says they are going to investigate the comparison services (first paragraph seeing as you obviously didnt read it) it also seems to focus on insurance comparisons not gas and electricity (I dont think the FSA have anything to do with the gas and electricity industry do they?)

The guardian even have their own comparison service advertised on that very same page (on the right halfway down)

And your legendary selective memory once again makes a comeback, I said (a long time ago) that there have been times I have had to "juggle" bills in order to get everything paid, I am not in that position any more and havent been for some time. There has never been a time I have had to "rob peter to pay paul" thats just rubbish, there has been the odd time I've needed to delay paying a bill for a couple of weeks so I can pay something else, nobody has been "robbed" and everyone has been paid.

A plethora of DD's?? Where did you get that from? I have two DDs (one for gas & electric and one for Phone and broadband) where you just have one, I cant see how you can call 2 of anything a plethora

Changing suppliers only involves a credit check when you switch to a company that runs credit checks, I've already told you I am with Scottish power (who do run credit checks) so whats your point seeing as I must have passed the credit check to switch to SP in the first place?

You really should get your facts right, it would save you from further embarassment.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

Couldn't resist a last peek before I go...

I see you have chosen to ignore my reply that discusses gathering customers through a team - why?

My big question to you is - WHY? Why would someone invest so much time in trying to stop a small player in a big market getting more customers? I can understand why the pro-UW people are here as they want to put across the UW proposal correctly, but what is your interest?

Unnecessary pleasantness - pot and kettle!

If I were to answer you, would you have the common decency to respect that answer and not just try to make out there is another flaw?

Not a lot, no, although to supply insurance "care" products, an energy supplier will need FSA approval. (This is different from offering service products).

You're correct - this was from the October 2008 issue,

    Incorrect,

My quote was from the latest customer satisfaction survey.

A further quote from the same report.
None improved on their scores from the last survey (October 2008) and some have got significantly worse.

So from 90 UW votes(salesmen are allowed to vote!) we are to conclude that UW have the best value gas and electricity(bear in mind that there are other categories for bills, support etc) despite Which pointing out that they are far more expensive than the Big 6.

90 votes, where vested interests can vote, determine the best value gas and electricity;).

Mmmm do you think Cyprus will vote for Greece having the best song in next year's Eurovision contest?

The customer discount plan was designed so that customers can recommend a few friends and reduce their own bills down. 9 would reduce their own bill down by 18% on average before UW cashback card is applied.

Being a distributor requires more effort. People should not even think about it if they look to get only 9 customers and become a millionaire. Been meaning to ask this now I have referrals but never got round to it. Does that mean the customer discount is taken from the figure BEFORE cashback discount is deducted? My bill this month started out at £80 but of course I had £36 cashback card discount to deduct from that (you know, that initiative that the comparison sites choose never to mention but which reduced my bill by approx 45% this month )

The 90 was the total of questionnaires returned, each fuel (gas\electricity) got its own questionnaire, and Which don't say how many individuals voted. So there could have been as few as 45!

I guess its simply that the UWDC customers who voted positively are happy with the value because they benefit from all the discounts and benefits from being a member of the discount club. It reduces their bill a lot in total. Unlike yourself they understand how it works. Does it annoy you that UW have had many awards in the Which, been voted company of the year in the PLC awards in the Financial times, and their customers are very happy and don't want to listen to you.
