Then choose an online energy tariff which everyone, even you can agree is far cheaper than what UW offer.
How about showing us you actual gas and electricity usage, present supplier and tariff so that we can see your savings? The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

For any newcomer to this thread - especially if they want to find information about UW gas and electricity prices - you should be aware that UW have just about the highest gas and electricity prices in UK.
You should also be aware that there are loads of posters with a vested interest in UW(mainly salesmen) who attempt to disrupt this thread and obsure the reality of UW's very high prices.
Don't just take my word for it - check on any of the comparison websites recommended by Martin.
From an earlier post. These are the costs for someone with an average UK consumption of 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricty living in the East Midlands.
If you wish to pay quarterly, the cheapest dual fuel would be £1060.
UW's cheapest tariff is their high user which will cost £1299 i.e. £239 more expensive.
Should you wish to pay by DD the difference a is £234. The cheapest being £949 and UW at £1183
So by DD, UW is 24.6% more expensive.
This should be posted every 6 pages or so.
I'm with UW and I pay the same 'net' tariff rate as you (BG). You have been paying that FIXED RATE for over 4 years (a time period when gas & electricity charges have almost doubled) whereas I have been with UW for just 2 months. Please explain how this can be...Call me Carmine....

The real fact is that there are 2 camps - IDs and happy UW customers and those who (for their own personal reasons) wish to denigrate the UW and anyone associated with it.
Hang on a minute here comes Mr "BG are a monoploy, big 6 discounts disappear in a few months" VinnyPlushchris,
Does it make you happy to falsely accuse and make libellous statements?
And this old chestnutHow do you explain the fact that I pay less to Utility Warehouse for my gas and electricity than I would to any other company?
Drifting away from giving UW my money now....0 -
Just a heads up to those savvy moneysavers who shop at Sainsburys with the UW card (if anyone reading ths is using Quentin's card, we would all love full details), Party Packs of Carling (10 x 440ml cans) are currently just £5. Online orders only and have to be delivered by this Sunday. I've added a couple to my 'normal' order.
PS BREAKING NEWS!! The curry sauce is back down to 4p!! :rotfl: And 24 basics Jaffa cakes still a mind-boggling 38p (they are lovely)! :beer:Call me Carmine....

Any real hard proof?
You'll be saying they have been discredited by UW ID's and Southern electric doorknockers next
Like it or not the fact is the comparison sites are far more strictly regulated than some random person in the street handing you a card or knocking on your door telling you all kinds of rubbish.
All of the big comparison sites are governed by the Consumer focus code of confidence, do UW distributers have to pass the same kind of checks?
Are all phone calls made to UW distributers recorded so they can be checked later by the customer? My guess is they are not seeing as most of them are to mobile numbers or peoples home phones.
Discredited? I would still believe comparison sites more than ANY salesman (or "distributer") from ANY company.
Believe who you like PlushChris it doesn't matter to me. I'm not going to lose any slip sleep over what you and the other naysayers say.

You're not helping. Why 2 camps? This kind of language leads to people taking sides who wouldn't normally. I'm not a UW ID or customer therefore I must be in the other camp? Why no space for neutrals, middle ground?
Hang on a minute here comes Mr "BG are a monoploy, big 6 discounts disappear in a few months" Vinny
And this old chestnut
I think Jim has been trying to clear this up for a while. You take a few deals from UW and the reduction you recieve from the card is applied against all of them. The size of the reduction would be the same if you didn't have energy with them wouldn't it? Therefore you actually need to be comparing the charges for gas and electricity (with any other beenfit like 24/7 calls) against the other suppliers, not the bottom line of the bill.
Drifting away from giving UW my money now....
OK - 3 camps - pro, anti and people who are unsure, undecideds, mildly interested.....

You really should keep up to date with the news, PC. It would save you from further embarrassment.

And we know UW isn't for you on account of you previously informing us you 'rob Peter to pay Paul' each month so prefer a plethora of DDs as opposed to the one and have a less than squeaky clean credit record. I think changing suppliers involves a credit check, doesn't it? Your credentials to offer money saving advice seem about as reliable as Cardew's...Call me Carmine....

It will depend on what your bill is for the monthly commission to effectively counterbalance your outgoings. I would suggest 50 as a first goal though. A friend of mine signed up 84 people in one month and was the top customer gatherer. He did put a lot of effort in though.
Something amiss here.
If everyone just did 50 at "first", then they would have a lot more "members" than declared.
In fact (assuming all reps are members themselves) the average looks to be 9 members a rep!
ie Their friends and relatives in the main who trust what they have been told.
Maybe this is why they are putting so much effort into getting more reps on board with the new bonuses announced for getting more to join up as reps. It's the way to "expand" - each new rep has his "warm" list of friends and relations to pester till they join. (Or cynically use their friendship to ask for help over a problem at work when really they intend to sign them up for multiple services, because that's what the top reps do:

In that case, so should this:
For any newcomer to the thread you should be aware that although UW's 'bare' energy prices may not be the cheapest, (indeed they don't claim to be), it must be pointed out that by becoming a Club Member and using different combinations of many of the other services UW offers if you are in a position to, it has been proven that you can lower your TOTAL utility bill spend significantly below the 'best prices' offered by our competitors. Some customers have even reduced their monthly bill to zero - and I don't think you can get cheaper than that. There are several happy customers who post regularly on this thread.
Superior customer service, consistently recognised 'Best Buy' in consumer magazines, backed by a UK PLC, and with the convenience of having all your services on one monthly bill.
UW is a Discount Club. If you're only interested in energy, and their rates are higher than what you're currently paying and you're not in a position to take any other services, then STAY WHERE YOU ARE! Do your own research and make your own choices based on what is best FOR YOU.

Thank you. Although your comment is fatally flawed as I've proposed once or twice;) a great way to save money using UW to obtain free broadband/phone (sufficient UW discount card spend applicable) and maybe even a profit. Then choose an online energy tariff which everyone, even you can agree is far cheaper than what UW offer.
There's also an interesting nugget some pages back, although I have no way of verifying it of course.
For the average customer, the free calls (for taking the whole package from UW, I think) is worth about £10 per month.
So if you're an 'average' customer, it seems to me that you're really facing two choices, for cost-minimising:
Telephone/Broadband + cashback card
vs
Telephone/Broadband + Gas & Elec + cashback card incl. £120 a year free calls
If if you can get your gas and elec from someone else, and save more than £120 a year purely on the tariff difference, then it's better to go with option 1. If the saving you can make taking utilities from elsewhere is less than £120, then the UW option is better.
Think that's right...
(£120 would need to change, of course, depending on where your telephone calls stand relative to the 'average'. From what I've read, Carmine's telephone saving would be a lot more than average, which would certainly explain why the UW option is the best for him).
(Oh, and since I haven't posted for a few days- I work for BG, bu any posts I make are my own views and not my company's).0
