The BG customer I went to see was on the original BG click on-line deal. It was he who didn't actually like the way it worked with BG click on-line and felt that it wasn't the deal he originally went for. I remained impartial to the matter. I certainly didn't attempt to lead him towards UW but just told him how things worked with UW instead. He made the decision himself because he liked the way it worked with UW.

Thats a good one!
Why did you go to see a BG customer if it wasnt to lead them to UW?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Don't just take my word for it - check on any of the comparison websites recommended by Martin.
Anyone in their right mind wouldn't take any advice of that man - particularly over energy. I prefer unbiased 3rd parties such as Which, Financial Times, Manchester Evening News etc all of which over the years have consistently put the UW in a favourable light.
I can list the very large number of newspapers and magazines that have produced favourable articles. Martin Lewis is like yourself Cardew - one person with his own naturally biased views. It's called being human.

Hello Mr Pot. What's that in your sig?
Is that it? Turn to the personal comments?
If you look you'll see that I called you on your falsehood before you mentioned British Gas. For me it isn't personal and has nothing to do with my employer.
You regularly make claims about the rest of the energy industry (i.e. everyone except UW) - how can I believe any of them?
If I do take up UW I know I'll do as Carmine did and steer well clear of any ID. If they pull tricks like yours I can only assume they are lookig after NO 1, not me their customer.
Look I am not interested in finding customers through here, I get enough through referral from satisfied customers. It's your decision what you want to do after all. I suggest staying with BG if it makes you a happy.Quentin's Cashback Card?

You say because UW doesnt offer online tariffs it skews things, so if you go to a comparison site and select paper billing only tariffs how is it UW STILL appear down near the bottom of the list?
I couldn't care two hoots where the UW comes on a comparison site. The only proof that UW is valuable to anyone is by becoming a customer. And since the UW doesn't have a minimum term contract then why not give it a go. That's the real test. Not a comparison site. Remeber the old saying about computers. Put garbage in and you get garbage out.

Whoops, BG is not a monopoly.
British Gas used to have all the gas suppliers in the UK, but now have less than 50%.
On the other hand they used to have 0% of the electricity market and now have around 20%. So in the same time that 300,000 customers have chosen UW, around 6,000,000 have chosen British Gas. (sorry, only have the BG numbers, but same arguemnt could be used for ex-PES electricity companies and gas customers)
Numbers of customers do not make a good argument.
Ah but UW have come from 0 to 300,000 households with over 850,000 services provided and done it by referral from satisfied customers:j. BG have had the money to spend hundred of millions on many advertising campaigns and salespeople. It hasn't been easy up against the ex monopoly companies but UW have done well I think.Quentin's Cashback Card?

It's because I was asked to by a friend who knew them who had been with UW as a customer for years. They thought it best to because they were unhappy with who they were with at the time and kept moaning about that company. He told me to go and see the guy to give him peace. He is happy now though. Our mutual friend is happy as well. I am happy. I am happy for you as well that I made you laugh. I just hope you didn't roll into something.

A regional newspaper and a freelance journalist! They must be right!
Any real hard proof?
You'll be saying they have been discredited by UW ID's and Southern electric doorknockers next
Like it or not the fact is the comparison sites are far more strictly regulated than some random person in the street handing you a card or knocking on your door telling you all kinds of rubbish.
All of the big comparison sites are governed by the Consumer focus code of confidence, do UW distributers have to pass the same kind of checks?
Are all phone calls made to UW distributers recorded so they can be checked later by the customer? My guess is they are not seeing as most of them are to mobile numbers or peoples home phones.
Discredited? I would still believe comparison sites more than ANY salesman (or "distributer") from ANY company.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

So you went to see someone you had never met before, that you knew was unhappy with their current supplier and you never had any intention of leading him to UW??
Sorry, but like UW's expensive gas and electricity - I dont buy it!Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0
