Take only UW broadband and phone (free weekend calls), and make you international calls free Skype to Skype, perfect for friends and family who live abroad. Like I've already said all this possibly for free, even a profit, if you spend on the UW discount card is large enough. If you work, which I presume many UW customers do, I cannot possibly see any reason to have 24/7 calls, its an unnecessary luxury.
So free broadband and phone with UW (subject to sufficient spend on discount card) with free weekend calls. Free Skype to Skype international calls. Use 'saynoto0870' too avoid paying for national rate numbers. Then choose a far cheaper online energy tariff. Genuine money savers should be able to see the clear benefits from such a strategy. Which is why carmine added me to his ignore list when he couldn't offer a coherent/logical reason not to follow this course.
I've used skype before but find that the call quality is questionable. There are breaks in speech and the voice goes faster and slower as it tries to catch up. Then there is the delay as well which makes people think you are hesitating when you answer. Skype often drops the call as well. For the calls I make it is important that I can be heard and that others hear me properly. There are lots of people registered for skype but most people don't use it unless they have no other choice and are frequently offline anyway so you have to ring them to go online to use skype which defeats the object. If you are using the internet at the same time as skype, for instance bbc iplayer then I find its not possible to make a proper call without skype dropping the call. You have to pay for a monthly skype package to get cheap skypeout calls anyway. Skypeout calls outside of the free calls are not cheap either.
I make significant calls during the day so skype is not for me. Most households make calls during day time anyway. This is what the research performed by UW showed. If the quality was acceptable I might use skype but it isn't. Seems more convenient to use the normal phone and the quality is better.
Hopefully soon the mobile network companies will stop charging operators for ringing to their network then landline to mobile calls will become much cheaper or even free as well.

So you see yourself as a poet, are a UW rep too? As I'm not sure because its never in your posts.
It seems you don't like poetry jimixbox. You say its never in my post that I am a UW dustributor. I direct you to my post today at 9.23am and before that also. I say this simply because I have to else I will get brandished. Or should I say falsely accused. I shouldn't have to defend myself constantly from false accusations.
didn't andrea say today
And Please I know there are two very polemic views on Utility Warehouse going to be expressed in this thread. Please do not libel anyone. Treat those with opposing arguments with respect, even though you disagree and please try and avoid personal remarks. I live in hope!
I noticed that cardew's remarks about Maz and her father have been deleted, probably by andrea.

This is what some people don't seem able to get their heads round. Evening calls generally commence from 6pm, kids tend to get home from school a couple of hours before this. My own kids have left school, one working full time but he still gets home at 4.30pm, the other starts Uni next week but has been home in the day for the last few months (works part-time). What am I supposed to do, put an embargo on them calling their mates until 6pm??
It's just a fantastic feeling to let them use the landline at any time of the day with absolutely no worries about getting a huge bill at the end of the month (this month we have made 195 inclusive calls BUT we were mistakenly under the impression that the free/inclusive calls in the day would only kick in once gas came on-board in the middle of the month so really cut back until then. Turns out the calls were actually included for the whole of the month!). Game on this month!
PS Saynoto0870 is a bit of a red herring as well - if you haven't got a 24/7 inclusive package the geographic number will STILL cost you during the day - in fact, a 1 second call to one of these geopraphic numbers will cost you FIFTEEN PENCE with Sky and BT!
PS Skype = crap IME. You tend to get what you pay for!Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Never tried Skype - I did download the software but found it rather messy to set up. So didn't bother in the end. I much pfere anyway using a phone. It doesn't cost me anything because all my land line calls are free. Only calls to mobiles I pay for and I try to use my Blackberry for them since they don't cost either.
I really like the fact that I only have to think about one lot of money every month with just one easy to read statement.

Incidentally, Vinny is right many people probably do use their phone during the day - I certainly do. Like you Carmine I don't have to worry now about making those calls, even if I am on for an hour which is very rare. What's morelikely is having to re dial for engaged numbers or being put on hold.

I have but not set up. I got it first to show other people in case they liked and second for my son who is off to Uni next week.

There's a thought - I'm assuming he can make calls in his digs and they will be included in your 24/7 inclusive calls package? Is that right?Call me Carmine....

hi, with the internet phone line you get free calls according to how many services you have(same as the l/line) it has its own number with a matching std code. it is a small adaptor that must be plugged into a router. you cant dial 999 with it,and it will not work in a powercut(router goes off!!), you can use it anywhere in the world

Independent UW Distributor and long term UW customer.
Isn't the most important point to note that for all your valid criticism of BG's marketing strategy, the price for getting that gas and electricity from UW is £1003.0
