UW trolls
I am an independent distributor with Utility Warehouse and the views I express may not be shared by the company. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

So what do you think of Rael's deceipt - or are you so used to such behaviour from UW trolls.
Not a word of condemnation for someone posing as an interested customer.
Double standards?
Taking a sermon from you on deceit is akin to taking advice on drinking in moderation from Keith Floyd. I see you continue to ignore my questions regarding whether you have ever told an untruth on here or deliberately posted misleading info. Why not just lie, it's not as if you find it difficult.Call me Carmine....

I think that must have hurt Cardew a bit more than expected - he's disappeared again. By the way where's his friends. I did expect a response earlier but he must have gone as well.
Do you think they will ever give up or will this thread continue till I'm 90. It's never ending.
Vinny can we have a bit of poetry to lighten it up a bit.

UW Distributor & Very Happy Customer0 -
I am used to such behaviour from the anti Utility Warehouse faction when they make false statements and try and use half truths to "score points."
As far as I can see UW has enough unique benefits to stand for itself (although I'll admit to the enrgy side of it being fuzzy atm).
When salesmen feel the need to make stuff up to support it, I wonder why it needs the support. Am I missing something? Should I be more sceptical?
Anyway, back to the cable issue - does it work in the same way as a 'BT -line' (carrier pre-selection) or do I need a box? Due to wierd history I currently have both Sky & Virgin TV (needs looking at) - so not averse to dropping the cable.0 -
Swanjon,
I never try to put another company down when I go and see a customer, it wouldn't be ethical to. It would be very disrespectful. After all someone has made a choice in past to go with that company whether it is right or wrong it is their choice. I much prefer to find what the customer wants and and then show them what we can do to satisfy what they want. I then let them make up their own mind as to what they want to do. I never try to influence but just show them what UW do. I much prefer to be on good terms rather than just try to get a sale. Of course being an independent distributor means that I don't have to recommend UW if I don't want to. I sometimes say its better to stay where they are, but if things change then ask if its ok to see them again. It's actually the customers who bring up what happens with the other companies. I find they often want to get away from them for various reasons. I try to defend the company they are with and don't try to put it down. It was a BG click online customer who actually brought up this point to me that the discount compared to BG standard rates reduced over time for the online click deals. After looking at the figures himself he decided that overall UW was a better deal for him when all the discounts and benefits with UW were put together. My background is as an engineer and scientist. I don't actually like pressure salespeople but they are a dying breed. I much prefer to be friendly, ethical and professional without any pressure. I wait for the customer to make a decision, its up to them.
Anyway a few numbers.
For midlands region this how the various BG online tariffs vary currently for 3300KWH electricity and 15000KWh gas using energyhelpline calculated figures from its website. I've added current BG standard rates as well.
standard £957
click 1 £922
click 2 £911
click 3 £911
click 4 £877
click 5 £902
click 6 £848
websaver 1 £853
websaver 2 £858
websaver 3 £857
websaver 4 £835
So it seems that from the figures that there is a general trend that the older the online deal with BG the more expensive it becomes compared to the newer online deals from BG. The difference between click 1 and websaver 4 is £87. Click 1 is in fact getting close to standard rates. Of course this is based on the figures put forward by energyhelpline. There is a possibility that the figures for older tariffs have not been updated correctly but there is a definite trend. Every few months the figures change and a newer on-line deal replaces the old one.
I have only brought this up because I was questioned on this by swanjon. It is not a reason not to be with BG. Its up to people what they want to do with their utilities. I am not putting other companies down. However it does clarify what I said that the discount with the online deals are only temporary. Every time the prices change a new deal is introduced that replaces the old one. People have tried swapping a few times to find out that the deal isn't as good as it first seemed.

Let no man, advert or internet site tell me where to get my Utilities0 -
The UW thing seems complicated, long winded and somewhat confusing, I did finally get the figures from the UW site when I looked a bit more, they were slightly more expensive but not to far over the top.
The broadband and landline are reasonable, but not cheap and the discount card is long winded, having to top up a prepaid mastercard, and then get 5% on the bill............ It obviously works for some people, just not me.
Unfortunatly the one thing that has come to light is the comments of distributors on this board. Every company has a place in the market and UW is one of them, but it's reps really do let the side down, and even if I was tempted by the offers, I would be put off by the unprofessional style of a few reps.
(And excuse the spelling it is 2am!!)These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -

Anyone with half a brain knows what BG is doing with its ridiculous online tariffs and the way they are superceded on average 4 times per year. It's an example of taking the punter for a ride, basically. It has always been morally questionable in the past but with the introduction of Websaver 3 the whole epsisode took on an even more sinister turn with its exit fee. No problem I hear people saying, as long as you transfer to the new BG online tariff this will be waived...won't it? Err, no. Somone wishing to transfer from Websaver 3 dual fuel to Websaver 4 will STILL have to pay the £60 penalty. Even arch-BG hugger (and shareholder) Cardew has railed against this despicable example of sharp practice. This is one of the reasons why I just can't take seriously members of the AUWF (all of whom appear to be with a Big 6 supplier, certainly those who don't see who their supplier is as some sort of State secret) when they question UWs integrity in the marketplace. It's like Pol Pot questioning Ghandi's integrity.Call me Carmine....

So we would agree then that if you are not addicted like some to 0870/0845 prefix numbers, the possibility of free broadband/phone, even a profit. (sufficient spend on discount card applicable) Would be a unbeatable combination, when used in conjunction with a cheap online energy tariff?
I still haven't heard a coherent argument, apart from addiction, as to why this package wouldn't work for the vast majority of UW customers.0
