For any newcomer to this thread - especially if they want to find information about UW gas and electricity prices - you should be aware that UW have just about the highest gas and electricity prices in UK.

You should also be aware that there are loads of posters with a vested interest in UW(mainly salesmen) who attempt to disrupt this thread and obsure the reality of UW's very high prices.

Don't just take my word for it - check on any of the comparison websites recommended by Martin.

From an earlier post. These are the costs for someone with an average UK consumption of 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricty living in the East Midlands.

If you wish to pay quarterly, the cheapest dual fuel would be £1060.

UW's cheapest tariff is their high user which will cost £1299 i.e. £239 more expensive.

Should you wish to pay by DD the difference a is £234. The cheapest being £949 and UW at £1183

So by DD, UW is 24.6% more expensive.

Amazing that I get my gas and electric cheaper with UW than with any other supplier. Any idea how that can be, Cardew? Can it be explained?

And while you are at it, how about answering these 2 questions that caused you to b*gger off the thread last night. Just so the newcomer can gauge the integrity of the person giving them advice, of course:

    1. Have you ever told an untruth in this thread?

    2. Have you ever knowingly posted misleading info in this thread?

This is incorrect, and surprising that none of the reps can be bothered to correct it.

If you have a new line installed it is subject to a minimum 12 month contract. There is no £50 cancellation fee involved when just getting a line installed.

If you want out before the 12 months are up you just have to pay up the line rental to the end of the minimum period.

The £50 cancellation fee referred to is for imposed for cancelling the internet service during the first 12 months.

Correct, although to say they 'can't be bothered' is harsh - some people don't have as much time to devote to contributing to this site as you. Still, it's good to see that you remember something from CoE training, well done.

You are an ex-ID who it didn't work out for, aren't you? If not, I find it odd that you have so much knowledge about UW - why would you need to know so much?

    I won't expect an answer.

Luckily I didn't have to have a new line installed and I know on my £25/mth Broadcall Plus package my only liability to b*gger off is just £50 in the first 12 months. When you consider the norm for min. contracts on phone/bb these days seems to be 18 months it's a great deal. If the service became garbage after, say, 6 months I could be off for 'just' £50. If, for instance, Cardew's BT phone/BB deal became garbage after the same length of time I would imagine BT would ask for the not inconsequential sum of £440-ish to be 'allowed' to leave.:eek: Of course, this is why many many people put up with a crap service these days - they simply cannot afford to leave. A shameful state of affairs....

For those interested in what an actual customer pays, since I've joined up with UW :

    Feb 2009 £66.89
    Mar 2009 £68.03
Apr 2009 £ 3.29 CR (switched to pay as you use)
    May 2009 £41.00
    Jun 2009 £49.22
    Jul 2009 £40.21
    Aug 2009 £44.04
    Sep 2009 £29.74

    Total : £335.84 (8 months)

Feb and March are Gas/Electric only
after Apr also includes Home Phone and calls.

My estimate for Oct 2009 - Jan 2010 is another £220, making a grand total of

    £ 555.84 (for Gas/Electricity, Phone and calls)

Now, how much did Les Miserables reckon I should be paying again????

Its no good trying to be honest now mate, you have attempted to deceive MSE members, threatened Cardew, and singularly failed to apologise for this behaviour.

Any post now of yours will rightly be treated with huge suspicion.
