For any newcomer to this thread - especially if they want to find information about UW gas and electricity prices - you should be aware that UW have just about the highest gas and electricity prices in UK.

You should also be aware that there are loads of posters with a vested interest in UW(mainly salesmen) who attempt to disrupt this thread and obsure the reality of UW's very high prices.

Don't just take my word for it - check on any of the comparison websites recommended by Martin.

From an earlier post. These are the costs for someone with an average UK consumption of 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricty living in the East Midlands.

If you wish to pay quarterly, the cheapest dual fuel would be £1060.

UW's cheapest tariff is their high user which will cost £1299 i.e. £239 more expensive.

Should you wish to pay by DD the difference a is £234. The cheapest being £949 and UW at £1183

So by DD, UW is 24.6% more expensive.

Yes, if you get them to instal the line it is subject to a minimum 12 month contract.

It's no good asking uw reps about details, they are trained to not get involved with customer queries and just keep it simple.
The Company's very top distributors do not get hung up on the detail and their approach is simple and top-line

    As demonstrated in this video:

  • UW Guys.

Are their any conditions attached to getting the £100 credit after 1 year. Eg Minimum spend etc.

Also note that there are special rules for this forum which require UW reps to declare their interest, but a number of them are prepared to break this rule and post glowing recommendations without pointing out their association to uw. These include uw reps vinnyph and keggs.

Speaking as an actual customer, no. However there would be a disconnection fee if you left within the first 12 months.

So their is a contract with a minimum term of 12 months which you can cancel subject to paying a cancellation fee.

I couldn't agree more . I'm assuming you pay wth your normal debit card?

I believe its £50 and that includes broadband. Depending on where in the first 12 months you leave, this is normally a much cheaper option than both BT and talktalk. Be Broadband suggest the lack of a min. 12 month contract is worth the punter paying approx £4.50 per month 'extra' for the privilege thereof.
