Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

I think the question is:- Will Utility Warehouse work out best value for me personally in my own individual circumstances?
For me the question is slightly different-
"What relationship do I want with UW to maximise my overall value?"
i.e. for me I would minimise my costs by choosing the individual products/services where UW is competitive. Because of the range of options with UW, I don't think it's a choice of whether or not UW is the best value, but rather how to personalise that relationship to drive the highest value.0 -

That is a new slant on UW, the relationship.
Personally I wouldn't pay well over the odds to 'personalise that relationship'
Unless you have the urge/need to ring folk all day, I think my proposal to have free broadband and phone (plus free weekend calls), if your spend on the UW discount card is sufficient. Then choose an online energy tariff, which whatever the reps here will tell you are far cheaper, 19% in my case, than UW tariffs. If you UW discount card spend is greater than your BB/phone charge, you could even make a profit, as UW will credit any money back to you. For a true money saver this would be the sensible approach, instead of using your discount card to reduce the cost of UW supplied energy, which as we know is very expensive.
Yes, I know that various reps have indicated that for them the free call 24/7 are must. I would say for how many ordinary folk is this a must? How often do you lie awake at night nibbling your finger nails thinking, 'Lord, I need free 24/7 calls no matter what the expense'? I tend to think having 24/7 calls for most people is like having Sky TV, nice, but not essential.0 -

Erm... it's not meant to be a new slant, just a terminology thing- I use the word "relationship" with regards to companies to encompass the products that you take from them/how you choose to pay/interact/contract commitments etc.0 -
But you would say that.
Although you chose to follow uw rep vinny and break the forum rules and not to declare it to post in favour of uw, you are nevertheless a uw rep!
The fact that I am also an ID for the UW is not relevant to my answering the question. I answered purely as a customer. The UW offers me as a customer something that's benefits me. If any other company can do the same or better then I would seriously look at it. But there is no one else. My first loyalty is to my pocket and not to the UW.0 -
I'm always amused when I hear/read people saying stuff like ' I don't use the landline in the day, I use the mobile instead'. Like using the mobile is in some way 'free'?
TRUE money savers would assess what they are paying for their mobile contract, analyse how many times they used it instead of the landline and assess whether they are actually paying way too much for the contract in the first place. I'm entirely convinced that a big %tage of punters on contracts would pay less on PAYG.
We know a couple who spend a combined £40 a month on mobile contracts between them mainly to avoid using their landline. They still have a landline so still pay line rental. Madness. But all too common....

But why do you (and vinny) feel that the rules of the forum don't apply to you?
Reps posing as satisfied customers without declaring their (obvious) interest was one of the reasons uw was banished to its own backwater.MSE_Martin wrote:However due to past experiences some strict rules

I would totally agree if I had taken out a UW mobile contract, wow they make their energy look like a bargain. Oh, you cant read this message, how sad.:rotfl:0 -

I agree with you Quentin. One more post failing to declare their interest and I will report them to MSE.0 -
(Return to the share club, lol). Any distributors know if the account reference numbers you are assigned are any indication of customer numbers and in what way?
Just referred some friends (4 services, like us) and am trying to work out the difference between their account number and mine assigned early July. TIA!

I am an independent distributor with Utility Warehouse and the views I express may not be shared by the company. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.
