Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

But you feel free to tell me that using Utility Warehouse for my electricity, gas, phone lines, broadband and mobile phones is wrong. I was asked for proof that I benefit by being a Utility Warehouse customer and did so. Quentin, Cardew and others keep trying to say that Utility Warehouse is among the most expensive suppliers of G & E, but, Carmine has found a deal that suits his requirements for low overall cost. Therefore many other people can benefit from being with Utility Warehouse too.
All I am asking is proof that you have the best deal for you in your circumstances. I did not provide false numbers for my usage and I believe that you are wrong to assume that others here will accuse you of putting up false results.
That's the bit I can't understand - jimexbox won't provide info because he thinks we will say it's false. If everybody had that attitude I doubt internet discussion forums would exist. It's really bizarre (although very much par for the course, frankly - we either get a refusal to provide info on the grounds we won't believe it or the other one - 'it's personal and none of your business'. Blimey.) He's really rather good at poking his nose into everybody else's lives and advising what to do but becomes very defensive when asked entirely non-evasive questions regarding his. I mean , how revealing can telling us his usage be?
Why the big secret? It's hardly going to endanger national security.
This is the really telling aspect of the detractor's approach - they reveal absolutely nothing of themselves, it's almost impossible to ever get them to back up their various claims/qualifications for advising others (jmjexbox's usage figs, Quentin's super duper cashback card, Cardew's shopping patterns, his cashback card experiences etc). This is hardly stuff that's Earth-shatteringly personal but they repeatedly refuse to reveal owt. The casual reader would surely come to the conclusion that they have summat to hide. Lack of credibility in the sense they just don't practice what they preach perhaps? Do as I say, not as I do? Who knows.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I was introduced some years ago to UW by a distributor. He only compared their prices to BT's at that time. At the time I did follow his advice and switched my phone billing ,only to rapidly discover that I should have done my homework better, and could have found a cheaper supplier, even then.
Unfortunately because of this network selling, he had sort of befriended me, and I felt fairly awkward about moving away from them, for some time.
I am still speaking to the guy, but I think people need to be wary of such approaches, even by family members who might be network selling , and try and make their own comparisons and decisions, independantly.0 -

You just seemed to disappear off the face of the Earth when I posted the post I reproduce below in response to your specific question (note no 'my personal life is none of your business' cop out crap! Let's have a response from you now, please.
Glad you missed me, although I think after attempting to belittle our friendship with your childish acronym Cop Out King, Im left feeling a little confused, a bit like your many of UW customers.;) Could I possibly have an apology? Its pretty infantile, and reflects badly on you, which as friends (I hope) concerns me.
I have tried to help you by supplying average energy consumption data that I hope will help you in your post fabrication, is this another new line in UW disinformation? Fabrication of entire posts, a new departure indeed. Anyway, please feel free to use the data I've provided to make up some figures.
You didn't say if you had scrolled down the energhelpline results list? Did you get repetitive strain injury? Here are my results for new and casual readers....
Hope this helps mate.0 -
Just in case any newcomer is baffled by the last few pages of contributions from those with a strong vested interest in promoting UW, all you really need to know is that UW have just about the highest gas and electricity prices in UK, and if a a relative/friend tries to tell you otherwise - do not believe them.
If you want confirmation that this is an absolute fact go to any comparison website - see those recommended by Martin on MSE.
If you believe that the all comparison websites will give you an inaccurate result if you enter kWh(the line the UW vested interests are now taking) you can still work it out manually.0 -

Of course, apologies for the bolding of the initials, which I quickly corrected before you disappeared hoping my post (reproduced below YET AGAIN) would be far enough back in the thread so you could ignore it on your re-appearance today, lol. Very telling you are ignoring this post from yesterday in which I directly answered your question (again!). Here it is again, jimexbox. i would welcome your response to the WHOLE post. This is your big chance to demonstrate you aren't just a time-waster.Quote:

After all mate, you are independent, or so you claim, yet you absolutely refuse to discuss this avenue on how to save money. Seriously, I value your money saving opinion, you have helped me in the past, of which I am truly grateful (see I'm not a guru, apology maybe?) So what is you opinion? Or do you not have one?
My discount card or yours? I'm using my discount card to maximum effect, jimexbox. I'm more than happy to pay more for my gas and electric than I would with the online deals in order to get all my calls paid for. The fact it's entirely legit as well doesn't keep me awake at night. You see, if I switched away to the cheaper deals for G&E, not only would I lose the unique stuff UW provide (like monthly billing, the ability to pay for exact usage each month, paper bill on the door mat as a reminder on usage every month, no exit fees, tie-in periods, risk of UW placing me on a silly fixed tariff automatically, no foreign call centres, ability to reduce bill further by referring like-minded individuals etc etc etc) but I would also lose the daytime and evenings inclusive calls to 01, 02, 03, 0845/0870, and crucially for us, those 2 intl. destinations that we ring).
Here's a question for you (don't panic, it's not asking for any details of your money saving regime):
If you made 5 daytime calls each of an average of 30 secs duration...how much would BT charge you just for these calls each month?
Now I've answered you (again!) are you at least going to consider asking Quentin for details of this cash back card? It would appear you can get 5% on your shopping and, crucially, you and your wife wouldn't have to change your shopping habits one iota. £6,500 x 5% = £325. In your pocket. And you stop where you are for your utilities. Why wouldn't anybody want to do this, let alone a committed money saver? It's a no-brainer, mate. Ask him....Call me Carmine....

If I answer your question, will you offer your opinon on why UW are so far down the list on energyhelpline. Which is recommend by this very site? Which seeing as you are very knowledgeable 'independent' money saving poster, we would all (I think) appreciate your thoughts?0

YAWN!! I was wondering how long it would be until you posted this thread again. Give people some credit, and stop reposting the same thread, it adds nothing new to the dicusssion and is tedius to say the least.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Are you seriously suggesting that UW are competitive in the energy market? Have you used MSE recommended energyhelpline? Or are you in the switch site 'axis of evil' conspiracy theory camp?0 -

I was commenting on Cardews post which he seems to copy and paste every few days. I was mearly suggesting that he gives people more credit. I also feel I have made myself very clear on my opinion on UW. All people have to do is read my comments to know how I feel. I know I wouldn't copy and paste the same comment every few days, because it does get rather boring.
I am not in the 'axis of evil' conspiracy camp (though Cardew nearly convinced me to join!) Plus it is clear that the information is not entirely accurate, for a start do they not include the membership fee twice?:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Seems that the A.U.W.F. have merely run out of valid arguments against UW. That is why they repeat the same posts again and again.
Solely as a customer of UW its cheaper for me overall because I have the whole package. I get free calls 24/7 to 01,02,03 and 0845, 0870 with no extra cost and I make many daytime calls. The UW cashback card is an extra discount that reduces the bill way below what I would get elsewhere.
There are a number of customers who post here who get cheaper with UW in total. For instance Carmine.
There are a number of customers who regularly receive negative bills.Quentin's Cashback Card?
Let no man, advert or internet site tell me where to get my Utilities0
