get the family together, the person with the lowest energy bills joins, then the whole family including cousins etc, all use the discount card. Everyone else just go online for the best tariffs.
TBH, there's nothing stopping someone just having the phone line rental and the cashback card AFAIK. Is this right? Can't see them paying too much for that per month net. They may even get a refund (I'm led to believe any surplus from the cashback card discount is actually credited back to the customer's bank account each month).Order CashBack Cards
New customers please note: in order to apply for a CashBack card, you must also apply for at least one other service from us.g) If the value of your Cashback exceeds the total cost of services (including any Club
Membership fee) provided to you by the Utility Warehouse in any month, the credit
balance on your monthly invoice will automatically be paid to your registered bank
account. If the Utility Warehouse do not have details of a valid bank account for you,
then the net balance will remain as a credit on your account with them and you can
deduct it from any future payment for services supplied to you by the Utility WarehouseCall me Carmine....

It isn't a "discount" card, it's a prepay cash card (with risks!).
You don't need to join up to uw to get a cashcard offering similar discounts (though with more retailers involved).0 -
there's your best deal then carmine
UW take their phone service
use Websaver 3 for energy
use the discount card at Sainsburys

That is a typical post from a UW rep!
Stupid prices 'apparently' paid by an idiot! used as an example to give a £27 a month saving.
No mention of how much extra UW gas and electricity prices would cost them in your example.
£34 a month for phones?
I pay £31.73 a month(including VAT) to BT for:
line rental,
all geographic calls free 24/7,
200 free texts a month, Sent from phone or PC
Wireless Broadband hub with 20gb monthly,
free McAfee comprehensive security package, - firewall, anti-virus etc
call minder,
caller display
Free 0870/0845 telephone Nos
5gb digital vault
a second(internet) phone line with a separate telephone number(calls to many countries abroad 1.25p/min and evening/weekend domestic calls free),
350 minutes a month free internet access on BT Openzone for a laptop(for all my family).
The ability to interrogate BT call minder from abroad.
Freephone help line.
In addition I get the occasional discounts like reduced rental for 3 months etc.
I would estimate the cost for the BT package from UW at around £45.
Plus of course I save £796 per year) on UW gas and electricity prices by being with BG.
Good for you Cardew. You're a happy bunny. A lot of people aren't. Some like me actually prefer UW for all sorts of reasos. Price isn't always a consideration. A lady I signed up today bluntly told me that she can't be bothered doing all sorts of research - it would just do her head in. She loved the idea one bill for all services. That's what sold it for her. It's what sold it for me as well.
Price isn't everything - might be for you but not for me and many, many others. I prefer value.0 -
I didn't quote the whole of his post, but if you read through it (#3887) you'll see that although he used the word "can", the meaning was "will", as he goes on to explain other tariffs that uw cannot beat. (Or its just clever use of the word "can" to mislead!)
Dear Quentin
Are you some form of "virtual" mind-reader then?
I hope so, as it saves me from writing what I think about your previous post. :mad:More misleading info from a uw rep.
Even the worthless guarantee doesn't claim that! The "cheaper than BG/regional electric supplier" claim doesn't include the monthly membership fee, and you must also pay by DD!
I am giving a balanced response to a fair question and yet you still believe that you have the right to tell me that I am giving misleading info and, by changing the words I used to the words you wanted me to use, this justifies your response.
In some ways you are now making it easier for people to make up their own mind about UW as your posts are getting more and more hysterical (not in the laughing sense) and people will quickly realise that they should ignore your input and move on to more reasoned responses.
Keep up the good work

What about the 24/7 inclusive calls, though? And up to 24mb broadband with no min. contract term (subject to £50 blah blah blah)? I note that Be broadband charge a £4.50 per month premium for not agreeing to the 12 month min contract on their 24mb broadband deal (which incidentally costs the same per month as the BB AND phone line deal in my UW package, though granted it has unlimited download). And what happens when the inevitable Websaver 4, 5, 6 and very probably 7 happen during my tie-in period and they are all cheaper than Websaver 3? Decisions decisions...Call me Carmine....

Why do we never get a link to these cashcards? I haven't seen Quentin provide a link ever - whilst he seems to post the networker plus link every hour. Very curious. So, let's have a link so we can have a look at this/these similar cashback cards, please. I just don't understand the reticence. Or is it the one for expectant mothers, lol??Call me Carmine....

chrisclipson wrote: »Why do you say a customer is quickly going to realise they have been mis-sold? I would suggest that the majority of your prospects are people who have never bothered to do their own research to find out who is cheapest for them, or else they wouldn't be interested in UW in the first place; even the UW salesmen on here have admitted that they're not the cheapest.
If the new customers are unaware enough of how the modern energy market works (and frankly, who can blame them?) to have fallen for the UW line without doing their own research, then they will presumably carry on in their state of blissful ignorance. And human nature being what it is, they will probably think that compared to their previous deal, UW has saved them some money, and start to get drawn in to the UW World Of Mirrors...
Ring any bells Keggs?
Seriously, what's the point in doing this - there is no way you can have a healthy debate as the anti-UW lot either miss the point or refuse to acknowledge a better deal - instead going on with some kind of 'my package is better than your package' comment (Cardew). It's not about what you've got mate, it's about what the customer is getting.
Clipson - of course they would quickly realise - they get a MONTHLY bill and can simply compare with what they were paying previously. All my customers are advised to check the estimated consumption with their actual for the first few months so that they can make sure their payment is in line with usage.
Anyway, you missed the point. I acknowledged that our energy isn't the cheapest, but then went on to explain (again) how we're a DISCOUNT CLUB with many other benefits which far outweigh the negatives of our energy services.
According to you lot - UW is rubbish, and anyone who signs is a misguided fool, stupid enough not to do research. How arrogant - the country is full of busy people with full lives who simply want a better proposition than they currently have - it's their choice, and not my fault if they don't have time or inclination to explore every option. The markets are deliberately confusing to create this situation.
I can't participate any longer as a debate has to be two-sided and won't argue with people who aren't prepared to budge when given clear evidence.
UW ID's - let this die. Let them get on with leading their small lives, and go out and grow your business. There are people on here who seem to have appointed themselves some kind of 'People's Champion' - given the amount of posts, I seriously hope you're paid well for it! Amazing! We already have one of these BTW (top left of screen) and even his 'advice' has been shown to be contradictory.
If you need something to fill your time with, go and do some voluntary work - better still, I know a great business opportunity where you can help people reduce their spending and get paid at the same time - or did you try that and it didn't work for you, hence the vitriol.
Finally, I find it contradictory that someone who questions the ethics of representatives of a company is also comfortable accessing private information from the UW support site to post on here.
Have a good weekend/life folks.Utility Warehouse Distributor/Professional Network Marketer0
