After doing more research on here and elsewhere on the net will have to politely decline her inviation to join the ranks of UW distributors tonight which I'm sure will be slightly awkward.
Doing research is always a good idea before making a decision on any venture. If it is not for you, just say that it does not fit with what you want at this time. You never know, you may look again in the future and change your mind if your circumstances or the offer change. As to not being prepared to meet a prospective customer, each new distributor will get the manual and relevant paperwork. Part of the stuff they will get is the tariff booklet that people can use to compare their own prices against the Utility Warehouse offerings.

I am an Independent Distributor with Utility Warehouse and any opinions expressed here are my own and may not be shared by the company.

I didn't quote the whole of his post
Hasn't it been you who complains about only quoting part of a message? Most people here realise that it is for convenience in that one does not have to read the whole thing. You on the other hand complain when it is done by others yet find it to be perfectly reasonable for yourself to do.

To be fair it would appear that this friend is simply clueless about UW's high gas and electricity prices
As compared to you simply ignoring the fact that Utility Warehouse services can save many customers money I presume.

To be fair it would appear that this friend is simply clueless about UW's high gas and electricity prices, rather than deliberately setting out to deceive Malaguti.

When she has 'done her training' she will have to make the choice if she still wants deceive Malaguti and all her other friends.

    Typically constructive comments again, huh?

I acknowledge that UW energy is not the cheapest, but without going over old ground, there it's a DISCOUNT CLUB, with more to it than energy! How about the phone package, card, mobiles etc...granted it's not for everyone, and never will be, but if a customer sees the benefits compared to whatever they're currently on and likes the idea of one bill, then where is the problem

She just needs to 'do her training' and be coached on how to show the benefits of being a Club Member correctly - and what is wrong with doing that???

I saved a couple £27 a month on phone and broadband last night, and combined with the fact they spend £700/month at Sainsburys will now reduce their total spend by £72.00/month - when it came to energy they took it to get the free calls, acknowledging that we're currently more expensive than their current provider - but it was more than worth it TO THEM!

Who was that? I ask as Carmine only repeated his challenge a few pages back.

I did. That was when he was crowing about a dual fuel and broadband package. But then the goalposts were shifted and the challenge of a sudden changed.

Tie in all your food shopping and petrol money and clothes and link them via a card you can save money on your gas and electricity. Whoop-de-doo. How generous.

What is the %ge back on the card? Is it capped?

They were paying £34.00 per month to BT for line rental and calls and £23 to Virgin for Broadband on top - and had been doing so for 4 years...fixed them up with BroadCall at £19.99.

  • Has anyone ever discussed the issue of Clawback on here and how this, as well as the pressure directly from HQ, would dissuade a distributor from mis-representing?

Let me explain. A customer is going to realise fairly quickly whether they have been mis-sold. Given that they are free to move away at any time, its fair to assume they will. At UW if a customer cancels a service within 90 days of it going 'live' then any payment made to the distributor is taken back from them...meaning time and money have been spent by them to achieve nothing. Surely this is of some value to the anti-UW types in supporting the credibility of the company?

It's not rocket science, Cardew. The equivalent BT package to the one I'm getting in my deal would cost over 100% more per month. BT are so expensive that most companies use their prices to compare with theirs on account of it being easy to prove they are far far cheaper. Then we learn of the bombshell of you, who keeps crowing about people paying too much for their utilities, actually being a long-standing BT customer. You couldn't make it up, lol.

Nice one. This sort of figure, I suspect, will not be unusual for people with families and several cars who do all their grocery shopping at Sainsburys (we only do part of it there on account of being members of a supermarket overstock shop which do amazing one-off deals). When you consider Sainsburys turned over just over £20 billion last year that's a lot of potential UW 'savees' (not a word - Ed. Don't care - Carmine). If any of the Big 6 had brought out such a cashback card before UW there would be people on here (mentioning no names, lol) who would be in raptures about it. It's a weird world.

PS It's nice to see real world examples of the savings available to punters in this thread. Bring 'em on...

Edit: Apparently Sainsburys are now dealing with 18 million customer transactions per week. This is not exactly some niche market retailer here...
