the same thing over and over again is what you hear people quoting from Monty Python, when what was actually said was
`Sorry squire I've scratched the record'
No harm asking. He expects apologies of others so it's only fair he reciprocates. He accuses people of not answering his questions. And mine is so simple to answer.0 -
I quoted and commented on what misgrace said - see post 3848:
However misgrace came to believe that, you will agree it is just not true, uw don't ever guarantee to be the cheapest!
And the "guarantee" they do use is worthless, and not a guarantee of anything, just a "sales tool" to help reps sign up more gullibles (without going into detail during the presentation of course!)
Actually, I have the leaflet that says it, and it says they will always be cheaper than BG
I had a quick nose at thier website, and it says along the same.
I'm still not too sure, as there is no such thing as a free lunch, there is always a catch somewhere, but I will do more research.0 -

yes, they did try and get him that way lol
he is quite gullable, the other day i was upstairs in the bath, a guy came to the door, saying that we are paying too much for our electric, he had a badge thingy and clipboard.
Hubby never thought to ask him if he was from southeren electric, so he let him in to have a look at out elec tarrif, as soon as I came down stairs I knew what he was, I said, I am not interested in changing over, if I had a pound for every service that came to my door advising me to change over, then I would be well off.
I asked him to leave, then let rip at my hubby for not finding out who he actually was, I told OH that he is some bloke trying to get us to switch over.
Add insult to injury, comes back sat saying he has been approached by UW in a garden centre. Some people never learn. :rotfl:0 -
So you can see what a worthless item it is, but so good as a sales aid for their reps.
To ensure it's worthless, this is the small print:
Reading Quentin's posts you'd think it was only UW who advertise this way. Here's the 'notes' referring to British Gas's various 'headline claims' on their site :eek:See Notes

I'm still not too sure, as there is no such thing as a free lunch, there is always a catch somewhere, but I will do more research.
Doing your own research in order to find your personal best deal is the way to go as there are very few people who fit the label "average," no matter who is doing the averaging.

I would suggest, as I did to misgrace, that everyone should do their own research - all the info is readily available. The biggest danger (or plus point of course if you're a salesman) of the UW approach is that the element of 'personal recommendation' sways people into not doing the same amount of research as if they had instigated the transaction.
LOL. OK, I'll rephrase the question. In your obviously extensive experience and in order for us mere mortals to gain from your analytical research, is there an energy company whose business practices you would recommend as totally acceptable and recommendable (is that a word? - Ed)?
Surely if you are suggesting you are knowledgeable enough to NOT recommend a company (UW) then you are equally qualified to recommend a company or companies to us?Call me Carmine....

Actually, I have the leaflet that says it, and it says they will always be cheaper than BG
If that leaflet says just that, (without the small print that has the conditions that say they are only talking about BGs standard tariff, you must pay by direct debit and the claim doesn't include the monthly membership fee) then you have been given misleading and false advertising.
Put your gas consumption into a comparison site (eg energyhelpline) and see how much more expensive uw is!0
