  • People who have changed to UW will always say they have benefited, because they earn money by signing up others.

Just read the last few pages of this thread. If you are comfortable with the paranoid/evangelical tone of the pro-UW posters, then take it further, do your research using the price comparison sites and see if it is the best deal for you. If it isn't, and you don't feel morally blackmailed by the acquaintance who brought UW to your notice, then steer well clear...

Is it beyond you to answer a serious question without having a pop at Utility Warehouse.

Whats wrong with having a stand in a shop and approaching people to see if their interested in your service, lots of firms do it.

What is wrong is the inevitable deceit.

This incorrect impression was no doubt left in the prospects mind by the uw rep referring to the worthless guarantee, just as we see gary (ex policeman, now a uw rep) do it here:

    http://www.networkerplus.co.uk/videos/signing-customers.html

Clearly the small print wasn't highlighted, otherwise misgrace would not have posted this misconception.

In fact they don't guarantee to be the cheapest. Only to beat british gas on their standard gas tariff (not including any discount BG may give for dual fuel, not including any of the cheaper online tariffs, and not including the monthly membership to be paid on top to the uw. The same small print applies to beating your local supplier for electricity)

Off on one a again Q. Give it a rest with your nonsense. Have you nothing better to do ? I am not a great fan of theirs but you certainly take the biscuit.

How do your know what the rep said? How do you know he even mentioned the so called guarantee?

    All misgrace said was

"just wanted general feedback on this company, as was approached the other day in a shop, well, to be fair, it wasnt me, it was my hubby, and they were trying to get him to change from BG to UW.

They gave him some leaflets, and suggested we look on thier website, which I just did."

However misgrace came to believe that, you will agree it is just not true, uw don't ever guarantee to be the cheapest!

And the "guarantee" they do use is worthless, and not a guarantee of anything, just a "sales tool" to help reps sign up more gullibles (without going into detail during the presentation of course!)

I agree with you they dont claim to be the cheapest, and that the guarantee is as useful as a Chocolate Teapot.

Perhaps she read this shortened version on their site, without reading small print underneath.

Our unique "Triple Value" guarantee will give you peace of mind.
    • For your gas, we guarantee our prices will always be lower than British Gas, wherever you live in the UK.
    • For your electricity, we guarantee our prices will always be cheaper than the prices charged by your regional electricity supplier for the area where you live.
    • And for your complete peace of mind, we guarantee our prices will always remain competitive compared with the cheapest tariffs available from the "Big 6" suppliers*
At least she picked up membership fee !!!

So you can see what a worthless item it is, but so good as a sales aid for their reps.

To ensure it's worthless, this is the small print:
Guarantees and price comparisons are based on the standard domestic usage profiles for low, medium and high users on a like-for-like basis and exclude Club membership fee, surcharge for gas customers using an Independent Gas Transporter, Dual-Fuel discounts and online tariffs. Only applies to direct debit customers.

Are you going to answer my question and are you going to apologise to Nigewick for your libel?
  • Sorry squire the records stuck, sorry squire the records stuck, Sorry squire the records stuck, sorry squire the records stuck, Sorry squire the records stuck, sorry squire the records stuck,

the same thing over and over again is what you hear people quoting from Monty Python, when what was actually said was
`Sorry squire I've scratched the record'
