However it is correct that that statement doesn't apply to UW as they remain consistently a 'worst buy' with just about the highest price gas and electricity on the market.

The bottom line is that UW prices are very very expensive and no amount of obfuscation can alter that fact

Cardew, I've edited the quote to contain the relevant points I wish to comment on.

If, as you claim, UW have 'just about the highest price(d) gas and electricity on the market', how come that ALL of my customers are saving money with UW compared to their previous supplier? And this is without the additional benefit of the Cashback card. Fact. Some customers also have the Cashback card and are making extra savings.

I have stated this in a previous post which didn't attract any comment or argument from the detractors.

This rather negates your statement and puts your mis leading comment into dispute.

My customers (residential and business) showed me their bills, I informed them of the UW tariff for their particular circumstances plus club membership and they worked it out for themselves, with no input whatsoever from me. (You can believe this or not, suit yourself). They did their own calculations and did a comparison and the choice was then up to them. If they didn't want it that was fine, if they did want it, that was fine too.

Never mind though, I'm sure there must be some part of my post that you can pick up on and nit pick to the Nth degree.

And I don't appreciate you describing my customers as 'gullible' as you stated previously. They were given the prices and facts and made their own minds up. Because these particular people don't agree with or subscribe to your opnions, there's no need to be so rude.

It's an indisputable fact that SOME people just hate UW for whatever reason or reasons they haven't got the guts to reveal.

(Apparently bold text means you have some kind of authority in your statements so, thought I'd throw that in for good measure) :D

I think I'm getting the hang of this now, thanks to Cardew.

I would just like to state that npower online 15 tariff is expensive (even though it appears towards the top of the switching sites.) :D

In other news, I hear that Sky are reducing the download limit on their Mid BB package from 40gb to 10gb per month . Even though they doubled its price recently from £5 per month to £10 per month. Also reportedly an increase to come on their line rental later this year. Crikey.

Your customers were too trusting or too lazy to seek out a cheaper deal.

Or they may be under the impression that the worthless guarantee is ensuring they get the cheapest energy as is demonstrated in this video. Notice the way the guarantee is glossed over, and the emphasis on the word "cheapest" when the rep discusses the worthless guarantee with the gullible spanish teachers:

(If you don't want to bother with the whole thing, fast forward to 5 mins 25 secs)

Your customers should have visited a switching site before signing up for uw's expensive tariffs! Then should they have still wanted to buy uw's expensive energy they could have switched via a cashback site and at least saved a bit of money (rather than simply making some for you!)

Some friends of mine just used UW, the bloke did most of the paperwork for them - he saved them a small amount on the utilities, but did manage to get them free broadband with their phone.
I am not a customer or seller, but was interested in using them.
Did a check on their web site, and it says that if you already have a dual fuel account with someone else, then they may not be able to save you money.

I wouldn't touch UW with a very long bargepole, and would advise anyone else likewise not to either.

Cheers & Best wishes to all, including those who don't agree with me.

Don't bother if you're not going to back up your statement with reason, a bit pointless and doesn't carry any weight.

I believe there is a campaign stickied at the top of this forum regarding energy companies tarrif games. I believe a figure of approx 4000 tariffs is mentioned in there. At 60th position you have a very strange idea of worst buy,

I am not certain if you are being serious or not!

As didn't put a (;)) on that remark I assume you were being serious.

There may well be 4,000 combinations of tariff.

There are scores of dual fuel tariffs. Some of these you can pay by Direct Debit, quarterly payment, Standing order and pre-payment. So that makes a few hundred.

There are scores offering electricity, again with various payment methods and of course E7, E10, and several other 'off peak' tariffs.

Yet more gas tariffs, with payment methods.

Then of course loads of tariffs that are not available to new customers. e.g With BG alone Click 1/2/3/4/5/6/7 Websaver1/2 and several Price promise tariffs.

If you took all those thousands of combinations, whichever way you try to 'fudge' things, UW would be very near the bottom. x thousand places down the list for the majority of customers

However UW state that the vast majority of their customers take both gas and electricity i.e. dual fuel.

So the only real and meaningful comparison is to compare dual fuel prices from UW with all other dual fuel tariffs that are available now.

I have just done that for the average UK consumption of 20,500kWh gas, 3,300 kWh electricity for my area.

There are 51 tariffs listed. UW occupy 47th, 48th and 50th place on the list. The tariffs in 49th an 51st places are 'Green' tariffs.

So without question UW are the most expensive provider of gas and electricity.

What is more they have consistently held that position.

The only meaningful guarantee about UW is that you can be absolutely certain of paying very high prices for gas and electricity if you take their product.

    Negates my comment???

To put it bluntly I don't believe you! I think you are mistaken!

The reason why there was no comment on your earlier statement(from myself) is that your contention IMO is peposterous and not worthy of comment.

I also re-iterate that your customers are gullible if they get their gas and electricity from UW as there are far cheaper firms.

It's an indisputable fact that SOME people just hate UW for whatever reason or reasons they haven't got the guts to reveal.

The reason why most of us dislike UW is the antics of people like yourself who post misleading rubbish implying UW prices are cheap, when it is an indisputable fact that they are amongst the most expensive in UK.

Without a counter view being expressed on this forum that rubbish might be believed by even more people than your gullible customers.

    P.S.
Please spare us the outraged and indignant response.

Try to keep any reply to the specifics of UW prices. Give me any combination of UW gas and electricity consumption and we will give you a cheaper alternative, and you can then give the good news to all your customers.
