Applying your 'logic', it's also fairly easy to spot people who work for British Gas here (no, I'm not taking it seriously, btw):

Customer?Good Points: None.
Bad Points: Inept
General comments: Last year I was persuaded by a British Gas salesman that I could save money by switching my electricity supply to British Gas, who already supplied my gas. Suddenly, my montly gas payments increased from £20 to £79, despite the fact my usage had decreased, meaning I overpaid by nearly £500 by my last bill- was that just a way of them making interest on my money rather than me? Then there was the electricity. My bill tripled; I discovered that had not applied the night rate to my bill, and despite 6 calls to try to sort this out, with 3 people promising faithfully to call me back [none of them did] and hours waiting on hold, I couldn't get this sorted. The final straw was a rude 'customer service advisor' who refused to put me through to a manager to try to finally get some resolution. I've switched.
Employee? Notice this customer gets an ad in for the Fixed Deal, lol.Good Points
Good service on phone when you are switching to British Gas. Providing a warm welcome and fast connection probably within 7 to 14 days
Bad Points
Price is high and they are rising as it cannot be a guarantee that it will not rise again in few months or in few years time .
The 15% increase in gas and 15% increase in electricity prices has taken effect from 18th January 2008.
There is an offer from British Gas, Price Protection February 2009 is a new fixed offer. You will benefit from this offer if the price of gas and electricity is to increase again, as this offer will give a fixed price for contract time.
General Comments
The UK is increasingly part of a global market and what happens across the rest of the world, like natural disasters, developments in the Middle East and the price of oil, will impact on the cost of energy in the UK. This problem is not only with British Gas and electricity but in every provider. But the service is good with British Gas.Call me Carmine....

Whilst there may be some tariffs that are marginally more expensive than UW; it is an indisputable fact that UW are amongst the most expensive in UK .
You only need to look at any comparison website to confirm that fact.
For the average UK user (20500kWh gas & 3,300kWh electricity)in my area paying by DD, Energyhelpline lists 68 tariffs.
Only 5 are more expensive than UW and they are all 'Green' tariffs. Even BG's much derided Standard tariff is 5% cheaper than UW. If you want to pay quarterly it is 8% more expensive.
So can you tell us which tariffs the people you have saved money were using please?0 -

That does seem a tad... biased!0 -
More misleading info from a uw rep.
The Which surveys were completed by the customers of the energy companies (not by Which). - I actually stand corrected my apologies, but I am hardly trying to mislead you am I? I was telling you what I believed, what my own opinions were on the matter - thank you for pointing out that it was a customer satisfaction survey and for adding weight to my point!
Only 90 surveys (one for each fuel used, so sample size could be as low as 45) were sent in by uw customers (how many were reps?) - I don't know, you tell me? Please! Are you actually doubting the credibiltiy of the survey too?
(And using Which in your advertising breaks their rules!) - Who is advertising? This is an independent forum and I am an independent distributor giving my views on something. That really is a cheap shot and very poorly thought out!
For independent views of uw (where you can easily spot those completed by the uw reps) see here (sort by "date descending" to see the most recent:
I have made my points above, poor effort, must do better!0 -
I have decided I am bowing out of this now, far too childish and silly point scoring going on.
Cardew and Carmine good luck in your quest, whatever it is you are trying to prove.
That is my opinion not UW's by the way (before Carmine jumps in)
Just one point here though guys - This is an independent forum, people are only giving their views same as you. Stop using the misleading UW rep thing.0 -

Irrespective of your "point", it is the rule here that uw reps must declare their interest when they post.MSE_Martin wrote:All Telecom Plus Distributers must declare it when they post0 -
Martin's rule regarding the G&E form is that ANYONE who works for ANY ENERGY SUPPLIER should make it clear when posting, matey. The rest completely ignore the rule almost 100% of the time, of course. Haven't seen you get on their case but then that would assume you are capable of fairness.Call me Carmine....

.
In my replies to you I have concentrated on price; which is what you said you wanted to post about.
What is childish in asking you what tariffs were the people using who you helped to get cheaper gas and electricity?
You raised the Which issue.0 -

That is not correct!
It is the line you took and tried to push in this thread:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1488315&highlight=declare+interest
Martin's final post stated:
The rules have always been simple, if you are engaged in a discussion where you work for a company involved, then you should mention it. However it shouldn't be in your signature as it is only for relevant posts.
If anyone has a problem with the fact someone is posting and appears to be touting for business or misleading then as always there is NO need to react to it - simply e-mail abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
Even that aint happening, though, is it? The BG employees that I know of (I'm sure there are way more) never state where they work and there are some like Rian1988 who simply REFUSE to state which energy supplier they work for (whilst seeing fit to label a post by an authorised Eon rep 'pathetic') so it's entirely clear she aint going to comply with Martin's edict. But I suppose they are lucky they have only got an obsessive like me who actually eventually tires of 'policing' the boards but UW reps have 'uber obsessives' like yourself and Quentin who never seem to tire of 'policing'. Such is life, I suppose.
It's all good. And doesn't really mean a great deal in the grand scheme of things.
