Nigel did try and help Dave and at the end of the day there will always be challenges.

Most organisations, faced with the bad publicity in that saga of bad service (which was made public on 23rd January, and has taken till now to be sorted out) would have pulled out the stops to limit the damage.

If this is how uw faces up to a public challenge, what is the service like for "challenges" from members that don't get into the public arena?

Well he certainly won't save £200 a year if the customer was on BG's standard tariff. He possibly could save that if he had elected for the BG fixed to 2012 tariff. - if he is 'very money concious' he surely should have known that he had elected to pay a lot more to guarantee his prices to 2012.

However he would have saved masses more with a tariff available from any of the Big 6 rather than switch to UW. If he is 'very money concious' he should know that fact!!

Cardew, I am an honest chap, pay my taxes etc,...I have no need to lie for UW.

The whole point I have tried to make all the way along, is that when you go and visit customers you find that a lot of people are on a lot of different tariffs.

Not sure if you fall into this category, but some people just pick and pick trying to find something that isn't there.
If someobody is on a tariff and has been for a while with British Gas, they won't get in touch with that customer and say we think we are charging you too much! And some people don't bother going on these forums or search sites looking for cheaper deals either, I know you may find that hard to believe but it is true.

Maybe I phrased it wrong when I say money conscious, but lets just say the guy is paper millionaire and succesful businessman. He was saving money or he would not have done it. We worked out his bill for that quarter, and on them findings by working out his consumption against UW prices, his bill would have been £58 cheaper for that quarter alone.

If you choose to doubt that then there is nothing I can say or do.

Where did you answer this particular question?
Anyway, weren't we told in one of the previous answers given that a rogue uw rep is doing the cashback deal via a cashback site. Wouldn't he want to help in a customer's hour of need (as well as encourage them to take out multiple utilities and give them their friend's names and addresses so they can be called on)?

One uw rep posting that someone is posting "s**t", and another (supposedly not reading my posts) posts more abuse ("boring repetition").

    Meanwhile another inists:
I would like to state that IMO UW are a very reputable company

Wonder how they view the way they are being portrayed here?

More mis-information, at least make an effort.

    !st Post 23rd Jan 09
Personal offer to help 14th Feb 09 (Happy Valentines)
    Offer repeated 22nd Feb 09
    Offer Accepted 22rd Mar 09
Write to the boss 17th April 09 (ish)
    Company phoned 5th May 09
    "Final Bill" 22nd May 09
    Resolved (hopefully) 27th May 09

This shows me that efforts were made to help, in spite of the rejections and there is a conclusion. I am sure that if UW had realised that Q was monitoring their progress in such a public arena, they would have put a full team on the case, perhaps they should focus all their attention on your posts, rather than on the business. (sarcasm again, by the way).

    Cashback Cashier
LOL. I would imagine, given what's happened to the share price and hence the capitalisation of the company since Quentin started his 'crusade' to discredit UW (both have almost tripled), the big wigs at TP Towers are hoping and praying he doesn't lose interest for at least the next 10 years. If I was them I would give him his utilities for nowt for as long as his crusade continues.

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??

    Or:

New thread entitled "Utility Warehouse. Why did I switch?" starts 23/1/09.

Various reps use it as anopportunity to contradict the impression uw is a poor company by posting glowing reports about the uw (one of them at least posing as a satisfied customer, but is rumbled)

Other dissatisfied customers/prospects join in to criticise uw.

Reps and supporters jump in to advertise how goos uw is.

Meanwhile the original problem gets worse. (DaveW007 reveals he was mislead when signing up, and that the promised energy savings weren't true)

    A uw rep reveals:
I was told not to get into discussions re prices and just to tell customers that they were the cheapest
    etc etc
    .

The conclusion is reached after just 4 months!

I accept that, and likewise would like to think that I am the same.

Since I have joined this thread I have tried to concentrate on prices, but inevitably got drawn into the Modus operandi of UW.

That stance has earned me the status of Public Enemy No2 in the eyes of many of the UW reps on this forum. I have to concede top spot to Quentin!! About whom I posted this earlier:-

Contrary to what you might believe, Quentin and I can hardly be described as 'friends'. We have never exchanged a PM and the only 'contact' we have had was when he reported me to the mods!!

Whilst I would concede he is perhaps even more dogmatic than myself(which takes some doing!) in his defence, most of vitriolic attacks have been instigated by his opponents.

As you have just joined MSE I suspect you haven’t trawled though the 3000+ posts in this thread or indeed reads Martin’s edict on UW.

The forum is about money saving. Since it was started it has been ‘spammed’ by UW reps with post after post making the most outrageous claims about price saving on gas and electricity with UW. Most of these have been deleted but went considerably further than the totally discredited Triple Value Guarantee(TVG) usually along the lines that “UW guarantee to give you the cheapest gas and electricity available”

Quentin initially was meticulous in debunking these claims, and because of this virtually all of the personal attacks were initiated by his ‘opponents.’

If UW reps conceded that their gas and electricity was just about the most expensive in UK as a starting point for discussing UW, then we could have a meaningful discussion on other UW issues.

Surely on a Money Saving forum it is a service to readers to point out that UW have very expensive gas and electricity. Unless there were people on MSE doing just that, the massed ranks of 26,000 UW reps would have a free hand.

Lastly, you stated in an earlier thread that UW are a reputable company, well frankly the videos of the selling techniques condoned by UW would not support that contention IMO. My view is supported by the actions of some of their reps on this and other forums, as well as a couple of ‘cold callers’ who have tried to introduce me to the ‘cheapest gas and electricity in UK.’
