Once the vast majority of UW salesmen have exhausted all their friends and family, where else is there to go? Ive asked but never received a reply, how many UW customers are signed up by a salesmen that they do not know personally or know them through a 'friend of a friend'?
In my team I have around 1500 customers. From my own personal customers that I have gathered myself only 1 is someone I know. The rest are people who have approached me in one way or another.
I hope that answers your question. I'll leave the rest for Decado to answer.

My so am i post wasn't directed at you. It was in agreement with Decado about a disgracement and potentially libellous comment made by some one else.
Ahhh..... you refer to this one, which you aimed at me (nothing "potential" about the libel on show here):Attacking someone (like my wife) ...0 -

Elsewhere on the net you have bemoaned that you are unable to take advantage of the uw main technique of using your warm market to take advantage of the trust friends and family have in you. From what you say, it seems they neither like nor trust you, so you have been forced into trying other means (eg the worthless so called "authorised survey" you cold call illegally with, and the car park trick you use to "reward" motorists who don't park too close to you)keggs wrote:We are constantly told to go after our warm market because they are the people who like and trust us. Personally, I have not found this to be case.0 -
Are you saying they are selling UW products because of anything other than money? If you are selling UW products to enrich the lives of your customers, then I sincerely apologise.
Apology accepted
well, It's hard to see how a utility supplier could 'enrich the lives' of their customers in a meaningful way, but I do believe UW can save a lot of people a lot of money. Not everybody, but a lot. It's the ones that can save I want to do business with - I have no interest in ripping anyone off but if a can help some people save some cash, and along the way build a business that enables me to spend more time with my family (a business which my daughter will one day inherit) then that can't be too bad.Once the vast majority of UW salesmen have exhausted all their friends and family, where else is there to go? I know of several people that have built (and are building) substantial customer bases by running stands at supermarkets, shopping centres, door to door (not a big fan of that one myself - I don't like being disturbed in the evening so don't like doing it to others), business networking clubs, posting fliers, handing out cards.... whatever really - talk to enough people, inevitably some will be interested. The likes of Eon or British Gas etc etc, do not need to employ staff to attract new business. Unlike UW, who need new salesmen to attract new customers (their friends and family).
It's important to realise independent distributors are NOT staff and we are not comparable to staff in the way you suggest. If we assume a traditional company has a staffing budget and a marketting budget, distributors can be more closely compared to marketing than staffing. Except most marketing is paid for in advance. Most business offer a product which the public can see is attractive without a 'sales pitch' which is high on spin and low on detail.
Really?
No, really?
Since we're talking about UW I'll restrict my examples to other utility companies. I'm fairly sure similar examples can be found for any product or service.
Taking some headlines from eon's 'at home page'...
"Save up to £181 on your electricity and gas"
"Get a free energy monitor"
"Tempted by British Gas prices? - You might want to think again. Switch to Track and Save v2"
Where are the tariffs? where are the terms and conditions? Not on the front page, obviously.
As for british gas, the animated banner is a good laugh
displayed for 2 seconds - "on average we have the"
displayed constantly thereafter "cheapest standard electricity in britain"
only after clicking on find out more do we see "
** Based on average annual single rate consumption of 3,300 kWh, comparing standard tariff prices as at 7th May 2009.
"
Of course the same applies to face to face sales. Have you ever been approached by sales staff in a shop who immediately rattled off a long list of terms and conditions?
Have you ever had a utility salesman knock on your door and start going through lists of price per kwh etc? I doubt it.
The simple fact is any profit oriented business will highlight the benefits of their product or service. This is normal. Most people don't want all the little details up front - the headlines allow us to look out for the benefits we want. It is sensible, of course, to look at the fine detail before signing on the dotted line (certainly before the 'cool off' period). If say Eons customer base grows to such an extent that their current staff number are inadequate, they employ more staff. Like I said the opposite of UW.
Not really, UW does employ some staff which they expand as needed. Independent distributors are not staff and are not comparable to staff in a meaningful way.

This thread is getting funnier. Is jimexbox now implying that the Big 6 are only in business to 'enrich people's lives'?
:rotfl:
I love this bizarre unspoken mantra by some on here:
UW = The Devil.
Big 6 = Saints.
This is the energy industry we are discussing here - the one which attracted the lowest scores for customer satisafction ever recorded in a Which survey (with a couple of exceptions, of course, neither one of them being in the Big 6). I wouldn't mind but jimexbox has made it entirely clear what he thinks of his current supplier, Eon, in quite a few posts, he basically hates them with a passion, lol. AFAIK he's still with them. Why?Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Most business offer a product which the public can see is attractive without a 'sales pitch' which is high on spin and low on detail.
I know I responded to this in my last post, but I have one more example to add...
Imagine any given shop is holding a weekend sale in which prices of a selection of goods are reduced by 10% to 50%. More reductions are of the 10% type than any higher. It's difficult to find more than maybe 1 or 2 50% reductions.
are the signs in the window most likely to read..
"Sale - from 10% off"
or
"Sale - up to 50% off"

Hi Jimexbox
Juust to follow on from what Decado said. I don't want to reopen the previous discussin with you but just to say that if you and others here really knew what network marketing was about whether it's UW, Kleeneze, Usborne Books at Home or any other respectable business, then you wouldn't have needed to make this comment.
Network Marketing attracts people from all walks of like for all sorts of reasons. Not all of them for money. Getting paid for helping people is a bonus not a prerequisite for most network marketers. People who focus on just making money (making a fast buck as some here would have you believe) are the ones who fail in this type of business.
We have a saying in this business. No one gets what they want without first helping others to get what they want.
It happens to be true and only those who take the time to research what network marketing actually does and not what they think it is will really know what network marketing and those involved in it are about.
Some people, notably one individual here feeds off people's fears and apprehensions by feeding people like yourself with misleading information in the hope they can cause as much damage as possible. Once they do this they start spouting claptrap saying things like 'all their meetings are like a cult meeting.' I'm surprised they don't go the whole hog and accuse us all of being satan worshippers and ready to do all manner of obscene things to recruit people.
My request to you to educate yourself was meant genuinely and not some attempt to 'get one over on you'. There is a vast amount of material available nowadays that will teach you. If you want a recommendation for any books let me know.
All good network marketers should read and absorb as much about their industry as they can. They also should work on themselves - self development.
Unlike what one person seems to think - network marketers are happy people because they have found a vehicle that finally allows them to be themselves. It's not about ripping people off; making a fast buck. It's about caring for people in a genuine way.
Hope that helps.

Some of the things uw reps are happy to do:
1) Con your friend into thinking you have a problem at work (when really all you want is to be able to have an objection free presentation, and sign the friend up for multiple utilities).
2) Con people into thinking you are carrying out a survey, when the survey is just a way of leading into a sales pitch.
3) Con people in the street that you are lost, so that you can reward them for helping you by introducing them to uw.
4) (This one is keggs' own suggestion) Con people by leaving a card saying that they have parked carefully next to you (when in fact you have chosen to park next to them, to allow you to stick your card on their car, and written a pto to reveal your business)
5) Con people that uw comes down the list on comparison sites because they are currupt, and uw refuses to pay them to get put up the list.
etc etc.
And you claim to be caring for people in a genuine way?0 -
