Don't normally post in here (I think everythings already been said by both sides), but often pop in for a read.
Thought this was a stand out quote though (Sorry Decado)It is true that at any given time other energy providers are likely to appear cheaper if judging purely on energy tariffs.0 -

I was expecting him/her to draw out the suspense for at least a couple of days on the pretence of being 'interested' only to ultimately deliver his/her 'daming report'. About as subtle as an air raid, to be perfectly frank. I'm disappointed. Maybe it's my fault for rumbling him/her so early (i.e. first post, lol). Felt compelled to get to the point of his/her presence here quicker than planned. One look at his/her posting history reveals the hasty accelaration of the 'plan', lol. Next!

I normally follow your reasoning, albeit as you might have gathered I often don't agree with your conclusions!
The link in your post doesn't work, and I am at a loss to understand what you have rumbled.
I had assumed you were implying that Miss Moppet was one of the regular UW detractors 'in drag' - but with the link not working???
Any chance of you elaborating on your suspicions?0 -
Hi Decardo23 and Mike by the Sea
Thank you both very much indeed for such excellent replies (your posts numbered 2746 & 2751). I really do appreciate the trouble and time you’ve both taken to reply to me, and I find myself in complete agreement with you both.
As you say, and it’s a very valid point, not every member of the public has the time or inclination to shop for the best prices, or to keep regular tabs on how well (or badly) their energy supply tariffs are fairing. There’s a lot of confusion marketing and manipulation of energy products and at first it is a minefield, I’m not surprised some people give up or don’t bother, and others haven’t access to the internet.
It may well be that UW is the optimum solution for less dedicated money savers and for people who don’t have access to the internet to compare everything and anything. For my part, I agree with epsilondraconis (post number 2745), if UW could crank up the cash back percentage to 10% it would probably be an unbeatable product but I don’t like the idea of having to pay up front for anything, such as a membership fee.
Contrary to Carmine’s accusations (blowing virtual raspberries again Carmine?) and his attempts to bully me off this thread, I came to this thread genuinely seeking information, as others do. I decided to join and ask questions, which (Carmine) is what this Forum is for, and fortunately you can’t decide whether or not I can be a member. All I could see was a knock about battle, leaving me none the wiser. Transparency is key to allowing people to decide whether they want to join UW or not, if you don’t have all the details, how can anyone decide?
I hadn’t considered epsilondraconis’ point that this was good entertainment. No doubt the entertainment will continue, but in order that the superb posts of Decardo23 and Mike by the Sea mentioned above do not become buried over time, but instead are more easily found by newcomers seeking knowledge, that they consider some sort of reference to these posts in their signatures (or similar). I’ve seen others do it on other threads.
The UW reps on this thread (including Keggs) have proved themselves to be a very decent bunch of people (once they stopped getting angry). Unfortunately, I hate to say it but I personally think Quentin feeds on that anger.
Good luck to all concerned (on both sides).
Carmine, you still haven’t answered my questions, I’d really love to hear from you with a proper answer if you can manage it.0 -
And you say I post "balderdash"???

I wouldn't touch UW with a very long bargepole, and would advise anyone else likewise.
Cheers!

Hi Carmine
Look what I’ve found.1carminestocky wrote: »Switch your supplier 4 times per year for cashback. Up to £300/yr can be made this way and as long as you land on each company's cheapest (usually online) tariff there really isn't a whole lot of difference between them.
That was posted on 11/01/2009 at 4:12pm on a thread called "Best way to save money on gas & elec".
As you seem to be a dedicated customer of UW, would you care to comment? Or are you just going to blow another virtual raspberry and run away?0 -
i've been with UW for gas and leccy for 4 months now, and my bills have been almost exactly the same as they were with EDF.
what does annoy me tho is how the DD payments they set you up with are way under what they should be, and by the time I changed them to more realistic figures we were £70 in debt with them, in under two months !!:grouphug:
no wonder he has a smile on his face...0
