What a load of rubbish Cardew. Nothing else to say really.

Can Southern Electric produce just one bill for all their 4 services or do they still rely on trying to put 4 bills in 4 separate envelopes with 4 direct debits?

LOL. I'm suspecting this wouldn't be a 'one bill, one DD' approach. Immaterial anyway as it's much more expensive than UW.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Thanks Carmine. Cardew & Quentin never stop trying to denigrate UW irrespective of what the company does or tries to do for its customers. They may (or may not) be dearer for some customers. That isn't the point of UW - it's about value for money - not price. But Cardew and Quentin aren't interested in value for money. They are only interested in price. Hence my comment "they know the price of everything and value of nothing."
The company itself have now decided to fight back against this misleading approach. They have removed their own comparison site and now have a new online version which gives people a chance to see possible overall savings in their post code area compared with the average household. For obvious reasons it can't be completely accurate for many , many reasons but it does give a fairer idea based on household spend and not just gas and electric. People don't just sit in their homes pumping energy around the house. They use it. They also make phone calls and texts. Surprise surprise - they go shopping. The company accepts certain assumptions based on general spending patterns but so do advertisers. The company also stress that it must not be used as a 'selling point' but simply a guide as to what is possible.
Focusing on just one or 2 household costs is ridiculous.
Why have UW removed their comparison site. The company have answered that. I hope they don't mind me publishing it here:
The Savings Calculator does, of course, rely on certain assumptions, and
these are clearly explained on our website. We feel it is a better and fairer
way of showing savings than the 'energy only' comparison sites, as these are
both inaccurate and misleading. Here's why:
1. Comparison sites tell customers what their annual saving would be
over the next 12 months using today's prices, on the basis that neither
their current supplier, nor the suggested new supplier, will change
their prices over the period. In the real world, prices change at least
twice a year! That means that the savings shown will always be
wrong, and explains why so many customers using these sites end up
paying more than if they had stayed with their current supplier.
2. Even if both suppliers change their prices by a similar amount, the
savings shown will still be wrong unless they change them on exactly
the same date!
3. Comparison sites do not take account of the huge value of our "Free
Global Calls"; our equivalent of the "dual fuel discount" offered by the
"Big 6". On average, a customer with four services from us
is receiving over £130 worth of free calls each year. This compares
with a typical dual fuel cash discount of just £30-£40 from our
competitors.
4. They do not take account of the timing of any price changes. For
example, last Summer most of the "Big 6" put up their prices during
July and August. Ours did not increase until 1 September. This gave
our customers valuable additional savings which no comparison site
ever shows.
5. They include our Club membership fee (but none of our additional
benefits and savings, like our exclusive CashBack card).
The 2 amigos will no doubt rip this to pieces in their own way. That's par for the course. But they should answer 1 simple question. If their favourite companies are so good why have so many people moved away and never gone back to them? As I am one of those former customer my own answer is: because they simply took my money off me without giving me anything back. They never valued my custom.
The UW on the otherhand treats me with respect - they really value my opinion. If I happen to pay a bit more for gas or electricity (I don't believe I do) that's a very small price to pay for the overall level of value the company gives me - eg I no longer have to worry about how much my phone bill is because I can call any other landline for FREE 24/7. I have no idea how much I have saved but looking at my most recent bill - it's a lot. One day I'll try and calculate it.

Cardew's criticism of UW with regard to price is a real puzzle, TBH, given that he has already stated on here that he could save money by switching from BT for his phone/broadband but he'd rather pay more as he has friends who have switched away from BT and not been happy with the service. To be fair to him, at least he's entirely open with regard who he uses for his utilities. Unlike 'closed book' Quentin.
PS I've been saying for a a while that the 'other' benefits of taking gas and electric from UW should be clearly shown by the switching sites (crikey, the cash back card is certainly potentially of greater benefit than a few Tesco clubcard points etc) but it's not in their interests because they make no commission from UW for a sale. I suppose the fact that the UW 'deal' really needs explaining is one of the reasons it is sold the way it is?Call me Carmine....

This comes as no surprise, coming from the "I've just found out how you can get an instant discount on your utility bills", Keggs. (And big al's day will be made reading your new opening line you now use when talking on the phone to your "warm market") http://www.networkerplus.co.uk/videos/rejection-free-presentation-big-al.html
They will certainly be pleased with a rep so company focused. (Pity you report elsewhere on the net the problem you have getting your missus interested in the uw and promoting it!).
Of course uw will be delighted with you promoting their new (worthless) "Savings Calculator".
I learn from the calculator that if I join the uw I am predicted to save £879. (Even though this doesn't bother about taking into account I will have to pay a monthly fee to be a member - though no-one from uw ever bothers about that, and I am going to save £73+ a month, so churlish to worry about the membershio fee) Were I a gullible confronted with this figure in my sitting room by gary/keggs et al I'd want to sign up immediately.
Luckily I crosschecked with energyhelpline - they accurately show that it will cost me hundreds if I switch to uw!
Now keggs will tell me to take into account other products.
But if I swap my phone and broadband the calculator tells me no matter how many people live here (between one and 12), I only will ever get £137 savings by way of free calls. Though somehow will save between £156 (with up to 3 people) and £201 (for between 4 and 12 people) on the (fixed) cost of broadband and phone????
All seems like fantasy land, but no doubt designed to help sign up your friends - after all, who would doubt their close friend telling them it's in black and white - join my club and save £73 a month.0 -
In that case, I'm very surprised (not to mention disappointed) that the only option you could come up with to 'better' my proposed UW 4 services deal was Tiscali, QuentinCall me Carmine....

I don't know why it is a puzzle!
The Gas and Electricity I get 'delivered' is the same regardless of which company I pay for those services.
I took the gamble in 2005 to go on BG's Fixed to April 30th 2010 and as a heavy user am paying the lowest rates in the market(approx £1000 pa less than UW incidentally).
When my tariff finishes in a year I will re-assess the market and move from BG if it is advantageous to do so. I have a electricity tariff in an annex that uses tiny amounts of electricity - I may consider getting UW on just that tariff if their cashcard system is still operating!!!!!
With telecoms I remain with BT because it is excellent value for myself. I won't bother listing all the perks again, but apart from my desktop PC we have 3 laptops in the house. We use the wi-fi minutes a lot and BT have just introduced the latest 'super duper' McAfee security package which I have downloaded on the 4 PCs.
For me, and I suspect the majority of people, the BT package is better value than the UW package; for my family it is excellent value.
The majority of my many calls abroad are on a free video link with Skype so cost me nothing - I spend several hours on Skype to Egypt and Oman - all absolutely free.
There is also the fact that all my family have BT email addresses and it really is a bind to change them, we are all also familiar with the BT browser and all Favourites etc.0 -

I take great offence at
(a) The sarcastic and irresponsible firts comment
and
(b) Bringing my wife into any discussion on this site.
How dare you. I expect an apology forthwith.
As for the rest of the post - it's worthless garbage. Stating how much this organisation will save you or that organisation will save you is not proof of anything. That includes UW. Only by trying something new will anyone find out whether it is is worth it. I repear you know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Thankfully most people are prepared to try new things with an open mind. Even Cardew (if he got his head out of ****) might find things a bit different if he tried things instead og pontificating from a standpoint of thinking he knows it all.

I hear Tiscali is having a lot a of diificulties. I'm not surprised - I believe it has very poor service.
I can just hear Quentin shouting "You'll pay a lot less with Tiscali but I'm afraid the quality of the service is poor. But at least you'll save money."
He knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Ps re my previous post - as a happy customer of course I'm going to recommend UW. That's a given Quentin. It's not hard to figure out.0 -

Now you know my deep hurt when you rejected me with this (too worthless to even be gathered as a prospect by a uw rep):Personally, I wouldn't have you either as a customer or a distributor
And you happily discussed your wife's attitude to the uw on the net - maybe it's just you aren't happy having this revealed here - iof you can't convince the missus, what chance of convincing the moneysaving community? Anyway, big al will truly be delighted you are his word perfect disciple on the net!
Don't come into the playground and expect to get a free run!
Why not answer the points raised about the worthless "savings calculator" instead of just shouting abuse from across the playground.0
