Just as a matter on interest for me - what is the main benefit of using this cashplus card even if I had £1000 a time to put on it?

UW Distributor & Very Happy MemberTelling your friends Martin Lewis recommended it?
IIRC they used to offer some sort of cashback on the card (actually, I think it was a bit like a cashback site in the sense of you having to purchase on the card through their affiliate links?)
I can't speak for others, but whilst I respect Martin's knowledge what I REALLY want to see is the cashback card (pre-paid or credit) that Quentin recommends. He seems remarkably reluctant to post a link (maybe because the one I *think* he's referencing is for expectant mothers)

LOL! You seem to have 'missed' the T&Cs published by Mike in relation to the cashplus card (that isn't even a cashback card) so I'll re-post them (with thanks to Mike for uncovering the relevant section):
13.9 The Financial Services Compensation Scheme is not applicable for this Card. No other compensation schemes exist to cover losses claimed in connection with this Card. This means that in the unlikely event that AFL becomes insolvent your funds may become valueless and unusable and as a result you may lose your money

I don't know if it's single items or single transaction but the only single item I've bought on the card over that amount was wife's xmas present - £176 at argos. I s'pose if they went bust between me paying at the till and collecting at the goods counter I'd have been in trouble
As for the 'interest free loan', I topped up just before heading to the store - 25 minute loan for 5% cashback (minus small fee) is a deal I can live with :-)
LOL! Don't go giving Quentin more ammo.:D You just know we are now going to read his warning about shopping at Argos on the UW cashback card on account of having to wait for your goods after you've paid for them, which adds to the risks.Call me Carmine....

At least it'll give him something new to talk about. Getting bored with the video fad.:rotfl:“Things that I felt absolutely sure of but a few years ago, I do not believe now. This thought makes me see more clearly how foolish it would be to expect all men to agree with me.” - Jim Rohn0 -
Quentin's gone awfully shy unless he's stoking his pistol for another shot.
Thanks for the info Carmine. I think I'll stick with UW's cashback card.

To Cardew and Quintin (Quentine?),
Keep on digging that hole that you've got yourselves into, it's very funny! Jeez, you must be the most mind blowingly boring people I have ever had the misfortune to come across. Get a life outside of your obssessions puuurleeeaaaase! Or at least, see a counsellor.'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

Do you consider that post really contributes a great deal to the discussion on the merits/demerits of UW?0 -
Decado23,
Thanks.
It most certainly is not an 'alleged' £5 customer discount. I have had it for a long while and even in the thread Carmine posted to prove a point it states:
Also I am perfectly happy with a paperless bill.
So based on that the UW package and BT package are roughly equal in price. I would contend that the features in the BT package make it much more attractive for the majority of people(Wireless, caller ID, Call minder, all extra on UW and wi fi mins etc etc not available) - but of course the Mandy Rice-Davies quote applies!!
Of course I am not arguing that the BT package is the best or cheapest available, just that it is better value than UW's offering.
So can we once and for all put to bed Carmine's challenge! It has been accepted and roundly beaten.(Bear in mind he said to disregard the cashback card)
Now as I have stated earlier in this thread, provided you are prepared to operate the cashback card wisely and accept the risks(which I do not feel are great) it obviously can make a great saving.
:j:j:j I agree. :eek:Call me Carmine....
