I wouldn't want Quentin as a distributor he can't even add up. He will add 2 + 2 and get 5.

To be fair he's having a terrible day, isn't he? Fisrtly the npower disaster (which he seems to be trying to forget all about) then this now. I bet he's been up all night googling Triple Value Guarantee. :D Put it down to fatigue...

My netgear wireless router was included at no additional cost - intentional misinformation or are your research abilities slipping? But how much extra will those international calls (croatia - often/israel - occasionally) cost me? And is the remainder (if any) enough to justify giving up the customer discount plan, cashback card, benefits directory, accidental death benefit... ? IMO No.

You keep attempting to score points over the Tiscali offering.

I show them as an example of how you can get cheaper combined phone/calls/broadband. I don't recommend them at all. It was you who tried to discredit the suggestion that others are cheaper by pointing out the differences.

You say your router is "no additional cost", but that is only as long as you keep on paying for the service. All you are actually getting is a router on loan. Some would say you mislead us by suggesting it matches the free gift I mentioned in the tiscali package.

But that isn't the main concern. In order to get what you want, (inclusive calls), just taking the uw product isn't enough - you have to have at least 4 services in all and pay for club membership.

Why not have the cheapest products where price makes little difference to quality, (gas/electric), from the cheapest suppliers, and get your broadband etc from a specialist individual company. If you want cheap/cheerful, then look at talk talk/tiscali/plusnet etc. Or pay more for better quality elsewhere.

Overall you will still be paying less than being "forced" to take expensive gas/electric just to get "free" phone calls.

You know what guys, ive come to realise that just looking at the threads there seems to be someone moaning about thier service or prices in one way or another no matter what the service or company.
Yes people can get cheaper or cheapest but there always seems to be problems associated with these offers, lenghty contracts(which are no longer cheaper after a while)conection problems, service, limited usage, connectons charges, disconnection charges etc, etc.
The way i see this company and this is my belief, we can offer a wide range of services at reasonable prices with good billing/customer services so thats the way i like to promote UW. As you probably know 90% of the uk consumers do not like to keep switching services so are looking for a good deal that will last.Thats where UW are able to stand out, again this is what i believe.
I dont try to kid myself thinking that we will ever be the cheapest for every service because that will never happen but aslong as i put this concept to my customers this way then its up to them whether or not UW is right for them.
    All my thoughts guys..

The free calls are included, as opposed to having to pay more to join the uw club and get 2 more expensive services in order to claim "buying more services gets me free calls".

The fact you mentioned it in your post is a recommendation, Quentin. If you don't rate Tiscali, why on earth would you even mention them? I think it's fair to say that reading the user reviews linked to below this is not a company that shoudl be recommended by anyone with any sort of reputation to uphold....

Quite possibly the worst example of customer services ever. We recently had a bereavement in the family and despite informaing Tiscali of this, they continued to upset our family by writing and calling for the deceased constantly.

I asked for suggestions as to who can provide a better package than UW, you brought up tiscali and I explained why I prefer UW. You call it point scoring, I call it discussion/debate. If you were to honestly asses your posts in this thread, how many of them would you class as 'point scoring'?

No, I'm well aware that others can be cheaper (particularly for people who like to hunt around for the best deals such as users of this site). All I really want is a suggestion of an energy suplier and/or phone/internet supplier that can match or beat (or even approach) the benefits offered by UW. These include but are not limited to:
    • customer discount plan - ongoing discount on all services for recommending others.
    • cashback card - 5% cashback (minus small administration fees - easily outwayed by normal usage) on your spend in 28ish shops, rebated off your next bill.
    • Excellent customer service/satisfaction - UK call centre, over 90% of calls last year answered within 15 seconds. 94% of customers in an internal survay say they'd be happy to recommend UW to others. Excellent results in several Which? customer satisfaction surveys.
    • Peace of mind - I know UW is not cheapest for energy. I also know that 2 of the cheapest energy suppliers are ones I've used in the past. Both of which ended up charging me more as an existing customer, while introducing lower tariffs or discounts to look good on comparison sites. At least with UW I know customer A isn't being ripped off to discount customer B. As I've mentioned earlier, savings for the 'cheapest' supplier for me would require being tied in for a year and are based on tariffs that are subject to change at any time.
    • Member benefits directory - varying discounts on a wide range of products/services; wine, travel, insurance, AA membership, driving lessons, electrical goods, golf equipment.... too numerous to list the whole brochure here.
    • Silver membership - for a small increase in membership fee (about 50p per month), customer support calls & broadband technical support calls are free (if calling from a UW landline). Also includes £10,000 accidental death benefit.
    • Single Bill - not a biggy for those focused on money saving but a big plus for many - all services on a single, simple, monthly bill. With my previous energy supplier I had 2 account numbers and 2 bills, which they couldn't even get in the same envelope :)
    • Cashflow - customers billed monthly in arrears as opposed to some other suppliers billing monthly/quarterly in advance. With current low interest rates not a massive problem, but interest rates aren't always low.
    need I go on?

I haven't checked the T&Cs so I'll take it on your word (for now) that the router is 'on loan'. Erm... so what? I have 3 routers anyway (if anyone's interested, my original lnksys 54g was great 1st one I bought, still working. The Belkin I bought while the linksys was at sister's place was pants, The linksys (bought to replace the belkin) with the 'simple secure setup' thingumy whatever it's called was also pants. Still the original linksys is now safely tucked away in a drawer in case i need it again). Routers are not expensive if I did need to buy one. I have no current plans to cancel with UW so won't need to give it back. If I do ever cancel and I didn't already have spares it's quite likely whoever I switched to would provide one.

None of this is a problem for me, although I suppose it may be for some.

I'm happy with those 4 services thanks. May up it to 5 soon. Maybe 6 if it turns out the missus is calling Croatia so much it work's out cheaper to get the internet phone line and post it to her sister. Club membership is paid for many, many times over with the combined discounts I am getting.

I thought it would be clear by now that I don't like the idea of paying a company that overcharges current customers to subsidise discounts for new customers. I posted a link in another thread (i'll find it again later) to a survey which seemed to show the people least likely to switch regularly or switch online tend to be over 65s and people from the 'poorer' demographic. I'd rather pay slightly more rather than have my bills reduced at the expense of those people. Especially when it turns out the other discounts available actually make it cheaper overall anyway.[/quote]

Not forced at all. I made a conscious choice. I believe UW have an excellent range of benefits, with much to recommend them. Nothing posted so far has even hinted to me that any other company can offer anything that competes with the UW 'complete package'.

Any apology on the way for you previous false accusation that I posted intentionally misleading information? I don't normally take internet stuff personally but that really annoyed me.

Quentin's continual refusal to apologise for his false accusation of Decado23 and what will now be known as 'the Quentin npower debacle (TM)' tells me all I need to know about the person. He's been quoted eleswhere as saying morals don't come into it whilst on MSE. I was hoping he was joking. Clearly not.
