We learn from the uw that anyone who gets a martini presentation from a uw rep will only have 3 possible responses at the end of the 5 minute presentation, and the reps are told how to deal with each possibility:1. "Yes". All you have to do now is complete the paperwork.
2. "I would like to think about it." This is what you say: "I understand that it's not the speed of the decision that counts but the accuracy of the decision that's important. So as part of your investigation it would make sense to trial the services (show the guarantees again in the brochure whilst you're saying this) wouldn't it (nod head). Your friend agrees. You complete the paperwork.
3. "It's not for me." You say this. Thanks for your honesty but if you consider our guarantees (show them in the brochure while your saying this) it would make sense for you to save some money wouldn't it? (nod your head). Your contact agrees and you complete the paperwork.
I thought there might possibly have been a fourth response, and should anyone dare say:
4) I don't like what I have heard
Obviously that classic reply of vinny's is the one to give (in the unlikely event you ever get response 4):Are you thick, just don't listen or have a problem?
Which is it?
Answer yourself that because I am off now to do something constructive0 -
The trouble is that we all fall for the diversionary tactics of vinnyph and his friends and the conversation moves away from the high prices that UW charge their unsuspecting customers.
Look how quickly we have moved away from UW's 2% cut in energy prices.
We really need to go back to basics - and discuss UW prices so that money savers are not fooled into joining the company.
We all know their prices are high, UW distributors know they are high, the comparison sites tell us they are high and discussing vinnyph's size, intellect etc only detracts from that message.0 -
Would people miss your ranting when you go? Serious question.
You rant on and on and make no sense it seems.
Must go, got to go sign up a customer and you are just wasting your time and trying to waste everyone else's. I have a life to lead. I suggest you do the same.
I am turning the computer off now. Goodbye.

That customer you are signing up, if they ask you what UW classes as a standard tariff will you accuse them of ranting and call them ignorant?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
When you try and mislead us by posting things like this, you forget how you are caught out.
This is what uw said about the reason big al was brought to your rally:
And we can all see the way the contact is manipulated by the uw reps in the martini presentation:

This aint going to disappear off the page, believe me... An example of Quentin's 'facts'.... No aplogy to decado23 so far received.Originally Posted by Quentin

I have posted why it is misleading.
Their annual discount is for the £21 direct debit discount per fuel - maximum £42. The other dual fuel discount you mention (the £63) gets paid monthly.
Sorry to labour this point but the fact is YOU OWE DECADO23 AN APOLOGY! The WHOLE of the £105 discount GETS PAID ANNUALLY IN ARREARS and your info is DELIBERATELY MISLEADING. Please corect it and APOLOGISE. Seriously, if npower can so easily pull the wool over the eyes of such an obsessive T&C-chaser as you, Quentin, what hope is there for people who actually have a life?Call me Carmine....

For such an avid reader of my posting history you should have worked out Wednesdays are the best day for doing that! (cupboard/winerack is full anyway!)
I'm a cider man myself anyway!

I've just put my usage into energyhelpline. Apparently the cheapest energy tariff for me is npower sol14, saving me £119 annually (UW membership fee included in the calculations). Of course, there's nothing stopping npower putting the price up so Sol14 becomes by far the most expensive option. Not saying they will, only that there's nothing stopping them (if only they had a TVG).
Interesting to note I was previously with npower paying considerably more for my energy. They chose not to inform me I could save lots by changing tariff.
I also notice the £119 saving includes £100 of discount I'll lose if I switch before 12 full months. So if we don't include that it's a saving of £19 annually.
Oh, I also had a new BT line installed by UW at £25 less than BT would have charged. and I get lots of free calls (including the wife's friends in germany and my family in israel & canada). and my wife can call her family in Croatia for 4.9p per minute.
and I get around £15-£20 per month discount for using the cashback card to buy things I would have bought anyway.
and I have access to the member benefits directory with lots of other discounts. Haven't used them yet but will be getting quotes for home insurance & car insurance soon and AA membership.
On top of that, If I wasn't already a distributor, I could recommend the services to others and get additional discounts on my bill for as long as they remain a customer (up to 100% if I recommended enough people - service charges only, not membership or cashback card related charges. Still, the potential for gas, elec, phone, internet & mobile all costing under £5 per month in total is still pretty good).
Oh, and that's with a company with good customer service, all services on one bill, all paid with a single monthly DD (paid in arrears).
Now, how about someone tell me a supplier that offers more benefits for their customers. Or even any benefit at all other than "we're cheap at the moment, it may not last but you have to stick with us at least a year anyway"
<
UW distributor.
Cardew commented - "As already shown above BG Websaver2 and BT is far cheaper"
according to energyhelpline, BG websaver2 is only £92 cheaper but has a cancellation fee of £30 per fuel, so potentially only £32 cheaper. Of course, there's still nothing that I'm aware of stopping them upping their price. And I want a paper bill, so that's out anyway.
as for BT, Unless I'm missing something it looks like the closest they offer to what I get with UW is the phone & Broadband unlimited package - £23.54/month for 3 months, then £29.41 thereafter. plus £11.25 line rental. 18mth contract.
With UW I pay £24.99, including line rental.
UW still looking good for me. And then we can add in the benefits directory, cashback card, customer referall discounts (if i wasn't already a distributor)...
so, my question still stands-
how about someone tell me a supplier that offers more benefits for their customers. Or even any benefit at all other than "we're cheap at the moment, it may not last but you have to stick with us at least a year anyway"
