I suspect the 0208 numbers won't be active long though, that was my point. Sorry I didn't explain myself better.

Nigewick and aiminghigh, why are you using this forum for your private conversation?
As you are both UW reps, (though you have never declared that in your recent posts), it would be more help to the remaining unfortunate UW members who are users of this forum if you posted the various geographic numbers you are using, instead of just referring to them.
Your bosses won't find out how we got to know the numbers. (They obviously don't read this forum as they would have posted defences to the many complaints about UW posted here)0 -

Why should this be a private conversation?
If anyone (including reps) have info about cheaper ways to make phone calls then surely they should be permitted to post it here.
Personally I think people make quite a big deal about these numbers.
It's not as if you have to call your gas or electricity company every day.0 -

So ok your happy paying up to 10p minute to speak to them. Not so bad if their time to answer is good, but not that good if your kept waiting.
Why should you pay these exorbitant call prices anyway, after all they take £21 a year from you for club membership, you should at least get something back.0 -

The old customer services number is 020 8955 5333.
Hurrah,

I agree that customer service should be just that, a service to customers and not a larger profit making exercise. Having said that, making a profit from phone numbers appears to be increasing and T+ are just following the trend. I have never liked the membership fee, and, believe that it should at least be used to finance free calls to the company and provide THE best service.

It has been known for your colleagues to put posts here as happy satisfied members without declaring their connection.
As far as advertising is concerned, no-one should take too much notice of UW advertising (other than to remember it is another name for T+ which has ASA strikes aginst it's name for misleading the public by making falsle claims).0 -

No I'm not happy about it, but my main criteria would be the price of the electric and gas not the price of the occassional phone call.
I didn't say it wasn't an issue, just that it seems to be out of proportion to it's importance.
I don't see why the majority of people who have an ongoing need to call their utility companies all the time. Why should you pay these exorbitant call prices anyway, after all they take £21 a year from you for club membership, you should at least get something back.
I agree you shouldn't have to pay them.
I believe you do get something back in return for club membership which I'm sure you can find out from their website.
If you don't like their offering then go elsewhere.
All I'm saying is that if spend say £1400 on gas & electricity and £1 on phone calls then I would concentrate my criteria on the gas & electricity prices and not on the phone calls.
They aren't the cheapest for these in my area so I'm not with them but I have based my decision on the price of the GAS and ELECTRICITY not the price of a phone call that has to made say once a year.0 -
I see where your coming from on this matter, but still think the use of 0871 is important but not as important as the overall costs, i am not in isolation about my views on the customer service number .

As you point out you can vote on your feet and go elsewhere. People seem to be doing this as their are cheaper suppliers.
I have searched their site and cant find what you get for the membership fee. Distributors of theirs dont seem to know either.0 -

Shame none of you can get as far as reading the terms and conditions then.

Membership Benefits:
• Unlimited free UK calls to anyone, anytime.
• Cheaper gas and electricity with our unique “Triple Value”
guarantee.
• Guaranteed savings compared to BT’s best prices with our
Home Phone service.
• Huge mobile savings.
• Great value internet services.
If these aren't applicable to you then I think you just have to look at it as a sort of "standing charge" which is quite common across the industry.
If you want to not go with them because you don't like their pricing structure, phone call rates or terms and conditions then you are free to do so.
I'm a "tart" so I tend to base most of my decisions on the finances unless something is a really serious problem for me.
Martin has always said that this company is for "ardent" money savers as they have some "unusual" terms and condition.
I would say that is fair comment.
If you don't like it then vote with your feet. I did - but on price not because of other minor irritations.
In my view if you don't want to save money because something is a minor irritation then you are "cutting off your nose to spite your face", but it's a free country, everyone is free to chose their own path.0 -
The membership benefits you quote from the site are extremely misleading.
Ardent moneysavers would surely not be using them anymore,as you can get cheaper elsewhere on all their products.0
