Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

UWDC should be renamed UWPC (Utility Warehouse Premium Club)
A friend of mine had UWPC's gas and electricity and then realised that she would save 26% by switching to EBICO.:D The switch has just gone through. She had received a letter on 8/11/06 asking her to call 0208 9555095 to give her final meter reading, but this number has now been discontinued. She rang their Premium 10p per minute 0871 number and was given a wait time of 6 minutes. After 20 minutes in the queue at a cost of £2.00 she gave up.
She later gave the readings to EBICO using an 0800 number, the very helpful person in their customer services advised her that they would give the readings to UWPC. Now that is customer service.:j
UWPC make a lot of their Triple value guarantee, but this only guarantees that their prices will be less than the STANDARD PRICES OF THE BIG 6 SUPPLIERS They do not compare their prices against the tariffs of the smaller companies or the on-line tariffs of the Big 6 which are all far far cheaper.
In this age of "Deregulation", No-one should still have to be paying such extortionate energy prices, dealing with such poor customer services or paying such premium rates to do so.
Even registered UWPC distributors have to phone UWPC's premium number to talk to them, this is outrageous. I can see both customers and distributors leaving UWPC in their thousands.
I believe that I am well qualified to talk about this issue as over 3 years ago I registered as a UW distributor and paid £199.50 to do so. At that time they were competitive, especially on energy, but now I have chosen to go into voluntary redundancy because in all honesty their products are now so hopelessly uncompetitive, their customer services rarely answer the phone and their new premium rate 0871 number is as bad as Tony Blair's slealth taxes.:mad:IF THIS POST HAS BEEN HELPFUL - PLEASE CLICK ON THANKS :j0 -

Nigel, still a Distributor. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

I presume it was done to increase profits as it certainly is not for assisting customers.

I too am a utility Warehouse distributor and have been for over two years
I hardly recognise the things said above as being about the same company.
I have never yet signed up a customer whose energy has been cheaper with their current supplier than our stated prices as I feel it would not be ethical to do so.
Most of my existing customers have been thrilled with the new free calls given this month and I have lots of cable customers who pay 1p for up to75min calls in the day and I have had good feedback from that.
The energy prices this year have been horrendous for everyone and we`ll just see how quickly all the companies reduce them in the new year as they should.
As to customer service - giving meter readings is automatically typing in your account number and then the meter readings - there is no need to wait on the phone. I also use the website saynoto0870 and recommend everyone doing that for any other queries.
I am a hands on distributor and offer to do the meter readings for anyone of my customers who want me to, but I don`t get contacted very often except for new referrals from existing customers.
I must just be lucky.
Those uswitch sites say something different every time I try them even if its the same day. There is definitely something suspicious about them.
I would be glad to see other companies rates for gas though quoted on here.
Ours is 2.77p per kwh wherever you live in the UK after our last rise, does anyone know any others to help us all. If we are definitely a lot more expensive, I will be not be signing energy in the future unless the customer wants 24/7 free phone calls.

They are one and the same company you represent!!!. Strange how most of you distributors dont recognise its faults, and continue to sing from the same hymn sheet.
Spamming this site by placing your T-Plus link in your signature is not allowed.
By the way the calls are not free you have to use other expensive services to get them.0 -
I realise that you are not a fan of them bendtoy from your posts, but all I can say is that I have a lot of happy customers.
I apologise about the signature.
When I filled my details in my profile it asked for a signature.
All I did was make a post - I did not personally put the signature in so why I am being told off about it I don`t know.
Are we not supposed to fill in the space that asks for our signature in the profile? Why ask for it then?

Also forgot to add for bendtoys sake.
Last night after everyone recommended npower on line as being the cheapest energy provider, I entered in my usage etc from the last 12 months on uswitch and it came up that I would save £39 a year with npower on line for dual fuel monthly direct debit.
So I took the same usage and worked out the UWDC cost plus our standing charges plus the £1.76 a month even though this charge covers 5 of my services not 2, and it was £21 cheaper, than npower on line.
So why the discrepency?
AND I get free calls in this so please prove to me bendtoys your ACTUAL proof that we are so much more expensive NOT proof from these so called unbiased switch sites who get paid for recommending companies.

Aiming High.
Your continued plugging of the Utility Warehouse (5 times in 5 Posts) will not help you pull the wool over peoples eyes. Their are numerous reasons why they are uncompetive, and unloved by some.
Heres a couple of threads to get your teeth into.
