You suggest that I am intelligent. You are right. I have one of those high IQ's I don't like telling people the true figure for. It scares people and they feel inadequate. I have been rated as 1 in 10,000 whatever that means. off it. ----

    Vinnyph,
You have informed us about your physical stature, high IQ, wonderful demeanour, exalted position in the company, previous professions, religious principles, charitable work etc.

Now I am sure many of us are impressed, and no doubt, as you say, your self proclaimed qualities “ scares people and they feel inadequate”.

It seems that psychiatry is also in your repertoire of skills.

You appear to have taken David Brent from ‘The Office’ as your role model.

Now you sell energy and telecoms – correct? Your talents are wasted!

They are certainly be far the cheapest for me (and Nigel, clearly). And that's all that matters to me (and, I suspect, Nigel).

And my usage figures are highly unusual, I would suspect (15000 gas, 6000 leccy). If I did my calculation based on the average UK household consumption (20500 gas, 3300 leccy), based on previous levels of projected cashback card spend, the results are even more extraordinary. My UW bill would net out at £744 per year! £297 cheaper than the very cheapest tariff showing on energyhelpline (which happens to be a Fixed till June 2010 E.on tariff with paperless billing and cancellation fees if you switch before then if anyone wanted to know :p ). Don't want an online account? In that case, the difference would be £330 per year (cheapest tariff here is EDF Annual Fix 2 with cancellation charges, of course. Fixed till 30/3/10. Does ANYBODY go for fixed deals these days?)

In case new readers are deceived by this nonsense; it should be pointed out that to achieve these figures you have to buy a card and spend [STRIKE]£6000 [/STRIKE]£9000 a year in other shops.

This should really be a sticky.

    EDIT
You now need to spend £9000 pa in other shops.

As I stated earlier, UW have reduced their prices in line with the TVG ........The %age change is irrelevant and totally misleading when discussing UW as their TVG is the basis of their pricing policy.........The pricing basis of UW gas and electricity is based on the TVG,

Three references giving credence to the "TVG"!

The "TVG" (triple value guarantee) is not a guarantee, we know it, you must know it if you have seen how the uw marketing director wants you to use it.

    http://www.networkerplus.co.uk/videos/triple-value-guarantee-wayne-coupland.html

It is a "sales tool", designed to make "getting energy customers much easier".

And it is used cynically, as in "we will always be cheaper than british gas for your gas" (no mention of "of course I'm talking about their standard tariff, not the others you see listed on the comparisons as being so much cheaper than uw, and you will have to pay by dd, and you will also have to pay us more by way of our monthly membership fee), etc etc!

By continually trotting out the "TVG" as something respectable and genuine, you are just insulting us.

Re-posting my summary of a few days ago to reflect new prices:
Anyway, let's re-iterate. I feel I should post up my figures again based on the fact that the previous projected cashback card spend was way too conservative. The £6,000 per year I predicted looks like it will be attained just on Sainsbug groceries and petrol alone, so the true figure could very easily run to £9,000. Let's look again. I would be most grateful if people could come up with a cheaper deal. Can I make it plain I don't want wishy washy suggestions, I would require properly researched and costed alternatives with links to each product, please. Probably just as importantly, are any of you managing to actually save as much compared to the 'best buy' products by doing something 'different' and/or innovative? Again, full supporting facts and figures would be very much appreciated (you will very probably be asked suplementary questions :p )

I've just put my usage into energyhelpline. Apparently the cheapest energy tariff for me is npower sol14, saving me £119 annually (UW membership fee included in the calculations). Of course, there's nothing stopping npower putting the price up so Sol14 becomes by far the most expensive option. Not saying they will, only that there's nothing stopping them (if only they had a TVG).

Interesting to note I was previously with npower paying considerably more for my energy. They chose not to inform me I could save lots by changing tariff.

I also notice the £119 saving includes £100 of discount I'll lose if I switch before 12 full months. So if we don't include that it's a saving of £19 annually.

Oh, I also had a new BT line installed by UW at £25 less than BT would have charged. and I get lots of free calls (including the wife's friends in germany and my family in israel & canada). and my wife can call her family in Croatia for 4.9p per minute.

and I get around £15-£20 per month discount for using the cashback card to buy things I would have bought anyway.

and I have access to the member benefits directory with lots of other discounts. Haven't used them yet but will be getting quotes for home insurance & car insurance soon and AA membership.

On top of that, If I wasn't already a distributor, I could recommend the services to others and get additional discounts on my bill for as long as they remain a customer (up to 100% if I recommended enough people - service charges only, not membership or cashback card related charges. Still, the potential for gas, elec, phone, internet & mobile all costing under £5 per month in total is still pretty good).

Oh, and that's with a company with good customer service, all services on one bill, all paid with a single monthly DD (paid in arrears).

Now, how about someone tell me a supplier that offers more benefits for their customers. Or even any benefit at all other than "we're cheap at the moment, it may not last but you have to stick with us at least a year anyway"

No, we learn that the real money isn't made from sign ups to electricity/gas etc.

See how to do their martini presentation to see where the big money is being made.

    http://www.networkerplus.co.uk/videos/gary-martini.html

Vinny & co have to learn the martini presentation off pat, then everyone they give it too can only say "yes" (they are told). If they get 3 like minds to become reps under them, a £1000 bonus is theirs for the taking (compared with just £2.50 for signing someone up to take electricity).

Is this intentionally misleading or did you just not pay attention?

    getting 3 like minds signed up = £0 comisson/bonuses

All the commission and bonuses are based on customer gathering (including recruiting new reps and helping them to get started with customer gathering).

Where did the mention of £1000 bonus for just 3 names joining up as reps come from?

If you want the UW card badly enough, just take out 1 UW service(costing the least extra) and get the other services much cheaper from other sources.

This should really be a sticky.

Npower do pay annual discounts for direct debit customers of £21 per fuel. (So the maximum involved in your example is £42 - if you are quoting their figures for dual fuel - not the £100 you cynically quote).

Good job for you the competition can't be bothered to correct your misleading post - and a good job the ASA doesn't intervene over misleading claims made by the uw on the net. (Though it has of course caught them making false claims in their adverts, and then hauled them over the coals for it).
