However the relevance is that the lure of commission is the primary reason why UW distributors are prepared to sign up family and friends to tariffs that they know full well are far more expensive than available elsewhere.
Its the only reason. I mean 280,000 customers and 26,000 reps! I didn't realise there were so many charitable folk out there wishing simply to help the average dumb UK citizen save money. Warm the cockles of my heart, it renews my pride in the human race.0 -
Anyway I tend to agree with you that the commision structure itself is not important to prospective customers.
You are right, the commission structure is totally irrelevant to prospective customers.
But it is of great relevance when vinny is giving his martini presentations - which is to prospective reps, (not to prospective customers).
I was pointing out that vinny doesn't just waste his talents selling electricity for a £2.50 commission per sale, but is also a recruiter, giving martini presentations in the hope of bringing in a like mind.
Success with 3 of those recruitment "sales" gets him the grand, (and no doubt lots more with the ongoing cuts from every members monthly bills)0 -
I note you missed out what your deliberately mileading post said:
I have posted why it is misleading.
Their annual discount is for the £21 direct debit discount per fuel - maximum £42. The other dual fuel discount you mention (the £63) gets paid monthly.
Sorry to labour this point but the fact is YOU OWE DECADO23 AN APOLOGY! The WHOLE of the £105 discount GETS PAID ANNUALLY IN ARREARS and your info is DELIBERATELY MISLEADING. Please corect it and APOLOGISE. Seriously, if npower can so easily pull the wool over the eyes of such an obsessive T&C-chaser as you, Quentin, what hope is there for people who actually have a life?
PS Decado23, I really hope you DEMAND an apology from him because anything less would be frankly pathetic behaviour and show us all what sort of person we are dealing with here. Don't let him and Hugh Jeego deflect you away from this very important principle.Call me Carmine....

Actually I have never used the martini presentation. It doesn't fit with the way I like to do things. I suggest not saying I do that presentation as I don't. I look for quality, successful people, with good standing and credibility. I look for people who are serious about the business and want to get somewhere in life. I find out about people first.
Just wondering why you seem to think you know more than people who actually do the business and the way they do it.Quentin's Cashback Card?

The way I see it I get paid for doing work and get rewarded for my efforts. Anyone sensible would not work for nothing. If UW distributors didn't get paid I would say something was wrong and would steer clear. Seems daft someone suggest someone work for nothing.
I guess everyone else who thinks that UW distributors should work for nothing have never earned money in their life. If they had they would be a hypocrite.
In any case I think the money is better going there rather than to the TV companies or the advertising companies to be bombarded with brainwashing adverts on TV. the big 6 adverts say they are excellent companies. How come they do so badly in the which energy company report. How come their customers are so unhappy? Are their TV adverts telling the truth?Quentin's Cashback Card?

Except for the fact that any customer gathering bonuses are lost if the customer cancels within 3 months of signing up (no minimum contract term for most UW services).
can we assume sales people from the big 6 suppliers get comission? We know comparison sites get comission. Even this site gets comission from links with *
of course, we don't know how much comission all of the above get, nor do we really care as long as the information they give is correct. It seems to me that UW detractors on this site give an unhealthy level of scrutiny to UW, so I ask again - name a supplier that gives a better overall package of services and benefits than UW.
The 'door knockers' of the Big 6 have a dreadful reputation that in many cases is absolutely justified; it graphically illustrates the point I was making about the lure of commission.
I totally agree that the comparison websites are driven by commission and use any 'legal' means to get people to switch. I would love to see tighter controls on them.
UW have 26,000 distributors all working on commission and all know, or should know, they are selling a product that is overpriced.
As for a better overall package than UW? Well almost any combination of a Big 6 internet tariff, and one of the major telecoms firms. As already shown above BG Websaver2 and BT is far cheaper and the telecoms package has far more facilities for most people.
If anyone is so desperate to have all 4 services from a single company that they are prepared to pay massively more for that facility, then that is their prerogative; but at least let them know that is the situation and don't try to fool them.
P.S.
Carmine - glad to see your exchange has been 21CN WBC-enabled;)0 -
Still the vote is 280,000 to 1 out voted.
By the time you stop the vote will be 2,800,000 to 1 and it would be too late.Quentin's Cashback Card?

You take it too literally. You know I was defending you against the accusation that you are wasting all your talents/gifts just selling expensive electricity at £2.50 a time.
Though I don't know why you are a rebel, and don't do the martini presentation as your company seems to want you to (from the clips we have seen).0 -

I am supposed to be the intelligent one. I say its good to be paid for doing work and helping people save money with a highly recommended, award winning company.
There is a guarantee that UW do.
"Every month we compare the prices we have charged for your calls against BT's latest prices, and we will give you an additional credit if necessary to ensure we are cheaper"
Do BT guarantee to beat UW prices?
Just thought I would add that as people are gong off topic and this is generating ranting behaviour.Quentin's Cashback Card?
