Blame Vinny (uw rep) for misleading us over this:

Your taking what I said out of context and has been explained in full by me and someone else earlier. I didn't say I get a discount off my bill as you say I did. I get a cvc on my commission. You blaming someone else again for you own misquotes by any chance?

    Chinese whispers anyone.

Technically I am right and nigewick is right as well at the same time. Its just that you are misunderstanding and misquoting exactly what we both mean.

Blame MSE OAP for getting it wrong again.

Have you worked out the average because I haven't. Cannot comment without all the calculations being made.

Obviously I haven't checked many tariffs, but for the couple - using average consumption - that I have looked at it has been approx 2% and a UW rep verbally told me that was the figure. - mind you he was not an 'executive director'

You seem to have plenty of time to post on this forum, surely you have time to work out some figures for us?

None of the other UW distributors have volunteered a percentage figure either - I would have thought that you would have been anxious to announce the news? As I asked before, would it be fair to assume that you are all a little embarrassed by the miniscule reductions?

Again as previously mentioned, carmine was absolutely outraged by the cuts made by BG and the Big 6 - not a word of protest about UW it would seem;)

To speak of an average isn't really of any use as it is different for each person in the country. Its not going to be of use to anyone as a guide. One of the price comparison sites will probably put a news item out in the next few days. They have all the information on a computer already and the UW may put up an average anyway. It would take hours just to input and check all the info, 528 numbers approx. My eyesight isn't very good either.

I would have no real use for spending that time because I couldn't use it for anything. Its different for each person. I would prefer to speak to someone in my team or go sign a customer instead, or go see a friend. Better use of time. I have been out twice today already and signed a customer and seen a distributor in my team. I am just about to go out again to sign someone else.

What's the point? Even without any price reduction my utility bills still worked out cheaper with Utility Warehouse than with any other provider. Any price reduction is just icing on the cake.

According to energyhelpline the cuts were 2.3% on gas and 2.6% on electric, I woud have thought these are the average figures across the three tariffs and across all regions.

Whilst a bigger decrease would have been nice, the bottom line is, for me, note that again, FOR ME  , prices would have to INCREASE by approx 30% before I would be paying the same as those on the cheapest tariff on the market who shared my usage pattern. suspect.gif:D

And whilst we are at it, check this out:
    first:utility 10th Mar 2009 10th Mar 2009 +5.4% +7.9%

This demonstrates, to me, why you should think very carefully about getting involved with any utility company that wants to tie you in by charging you to get away from them.

I dont like the 24 month contract either, wasnt this rise about the time they abolished the connection fee?

And the prices still arent that bad on First Utility (not that I would go for it because of the 24 month contract)

Agreed, Chris, the prices are still pretty good. But if they can make that increase when all the others are decreasing alarm bells would be ringing if I was a customer. I suggested in the FU thread that my suspicion is their business plan is a very expensive one (HAS to be when you consider every new customer gets a super duper smart meter installed 'for free') and they will have to claw that outlay back at some point. Time will tell, I suppose.
